Hopefully the PCB can arrange a series for the Pakistan A team soon, but if they did which players would you select to be in the squad? In other words, who are the upcoming youngsters that PP need to keep an eye on?

Suggest as many (or as few) names as you want.

Just so you have a starting platform, here is the A squad from the Zimbabwe tour:

 1. Zain Abbas
 2. Saad Ali
 3. Shadab Khan
 4. Sohaib Maqsood
 5. Jaahid Ali
 6. Fakhar Zaman
 7. Saifullah Bangash
 8. Mohammad Asghar
 9. Umar Amin
 10. Mir Hamza
 11. Ehsan Adil
 12. Saud Shakeel
 13. Faheem Ashraf
 14. Ghulam Mudassar

I forgot to mention the names of Azizullah and Hayatullah, who played in the ODI series of this tour.

Sami aslam, Harris Sohail, Fawad Alam, any player on the cusp of an international call up should go on Pakistan A tours, even test players who need further experience, i.e Hassan Ali, Baber Azam. similar to how england do with the lions.

Sami and Sohail are likely to feature in the Sri Lanka series so I wouldn't include them in the A tour. Would rather opportunities were given to players on the fringe of selection/ones for the future.

agreed, but if we have a big enough window with no 1st team tests planned then why not, will be good experience.

Sahibzada Farhan, Amir Yamin, Hassan Khan e.t.c

I'm hopeful Sahibzada will be taken on the SL tour. Looks as though Yamin will also be given a go (given he was given a central contract).

Imam-ul-Haq
Saad Ali
Khushdil Shah
Hussain Talat (if not part of the SL tour)
Sarmad Bhatti
Umair Masood
Ahmed Bashir
Sameen Gul
Amad Butt
Kamran Ghulam
Saif Badar

Saad Ali isn't good enough

Care to share why?

I watched him play during the pakistan cup, he couldn't play against pace. He isn't bad against spin though..... But again, we've got many batsman in domestics who are like him and have pace as a weakness....

Yes I heard he had a poor PC, do you have any highlights?

I'm not sure how much he can be judged on that performance though. He's 23, performed well in the Pakistan A tour of Zimbabwe and he has a good FC and List A average at decent strike rates with a good conversation rate.

If we write off every promising young batsman then PCT will be stuck with the likes of Hafeez forever! Don't think an A tour will do any harm.

Ahsan Ali and Saud Shakeel are two more names that come to mind. I know a lot of my fellows posters rate them highly.

Ahsan seemed to have put a bit of weight on though, I hope he has worked on that. If he has a good t20 cup he may well be selected for PSL.

Saud had a poor tour of Zimbabwe but he has shown promise and is still young. His biggest problem at the moment is lack of consistency. Needs to start scoring regularly.

Jaahid Ali deserves another tour as he has performed well on previous A tours.

Zeeshan Malik and Umair Masood are two more names that need to be considered.

Hasan Mohsin still has plenty of time- hopefully he plays for KK next PSL.

Sami Aslam , Haris Sohail, Hussain Talat

The first two are likely to play in the upcoming series against SL, so I wouldn't include them. I would rather the likes of Imam Ul Haq and maybe Umar Amin were given a chance.

Agree with Talat- looks a talented batsman. Needs to be developed in time for WC19.

Since there is an age limit on the players eligible to play for Pakistan A Side, My A team would be:
Zeeshan Malik
Umair Yusaf
Haris Sohail
Rohail Nazir
Saif Badar
Umair Masood
Hassan Khan
Shaheen Shah Afridi
Zafar Gohar
Mir Hamza
Hussain Talat
Usama Mir
Usman Khan Shinwari
Karamat Ali
Zahid Alam
Asad Raza

Heard pcb is discussing the pakistan A team tour with ECB to england and also with Nz cricket board .i hope they arrange it before emerging asia cup

My squad for odis will be
Sahibzada farhan
Bismillah khan(wk)
Asif ali
Hussain talat
Saud shakeel
Agha salman
Zeeshan malik
Ali zaryab
Usama mir
Raza hasan
Musa khan
Arshad iqbal
M imran
Ammad butt
Sameen gul

Zeeshan Malik
Hussain Talat
Agha Salman
Mohammad Rizwan
Asif Ali
Saud Shakeel
Saad Ali
Ammad Butt
Amir Yamin
Zafar Gohar
Usama Mir
Musa Khan
Shaheen Afridi
Sameen Gul

Knowing Inzi he may choose 5-6 national players if we have any break.

I hope they arrange A tours with Aus, Eng, NZ etc rather than Zimbabwe

Sethi sounded optimistic re A tours, let's see what happens

Shaheen,Musa,Umair Masood,Hussain Talat(if not in National team),Amad Butt,Rumman Raees,Hasan Khan,Agha Salman,Rohail Nazir.

These are just the names off the top of my mind.

Umar Amin
Sahibzada Farhan
Zeeshan Malik*
Hussain Talat
Umair Masood (WK)
Agha Salman
Aamer Yamin
Zafar Gohar
Rumman Raees
Raza Hasan
Shaheen Afridi

Bench: Nasir Nawaz, Saif Badar, Saad Ali, Sameen Gul, Mohammad Musa

Umar Amin
Sahibzada Farhan
Zeeshan Malik*
Hussain Talat
Umair Masood (WK)
Agha Salman
Aamer Yamin
Zafar Gohar
Rumman Raees
Raza Hasan
Shaheen Afridi

Bench: Nasir Nawaz, Saif Badar, Saad Ali, Sameen Gul, Mohammad Musa

THIS. Except I would give captiancy to Amin or Talat. Pakistan will probably give it to Rumman tho.

Can almost guarantee that 5/6 players listed will not make it & instead Pakistan will opt for the likes of Bilal Asif or Shan Masood.

Need to give chances to players like Mohammad Irfan, Irfanullah Shah, Israrullah, Shaheen Afridi, Khushdil Shah, Rehan Afridi, Mohammed Asghar, Zafar Gohar, Mohammad Musa, Arshed Iqbal, Sameen Gul, Bismillah Khan, Ghulam Mudassar, Mohammad Hasan, Saad Ali, Agha Salman, Nasir Nawaz, Sahibzada Farhan, Saud Shakil.

The issue is that we have very few promising batsmen coming through.

Under no circumstances should tried and tested failures like Shan Masood, Umar Amin, Aamir Yamin, Bilawal Bhatti etc be given opportunities.

I am a big fan of Raza Hasan but its clear after seeing him in PSL he has much work to do.

List A / T20:

1) Sahibzada Farhan
2) Zeeshan Malik (c)
3) Saud Shakeel
4) Mohammad Rizwan
5) Umair Masood (wk)
6) Nasir Nawaz
7) Mohammad Musa
8) Irfan Khan
9) Zafar Gohar
10) Arshad Iqbal
11) Mohammad Hasnain

It seems Zeeshan Malik has fallen off the face of the planet, from being the most hyped batsman from the u19 team and "one for the future" to not a single word about him in the last 2-3 years.

He's hardly getting any chances at domestics level.

How have you missed Saud Shakeel?

Definitely some of the upcoming players, but I would also include the players that the international team keeps around but havent cemented their spots yet.

Pakistan barely plays cricket, so these types of players can benefit from even A tours.

Some names that come to mind is Shaheen Afridi, Hussain Talat, Sahibzada Farhan, Zafar Gohar, maybe even give Mohammad Abbas a go to see how he does in LOIs.

Umar Amin
Sahibzada Farhan
Zeeshan Malik*
Hussain Talat
Umair Masood (WK)
Agha Salman
Aamer Yamin
Zafar Gohar
Rumman Raees
Raza Hasan
Shaheen Afridi

Bench: Nasir Nawaz, Saif Badar, Saad Ali, Sameen Gul, Mohammad Musa

Saud Shakeel?

ibtisam sheikh too.

Totally forgot about him.

Need to groom another leggie, he seems promising. I think he can bat a bit too.

Muhamnad Hasnain and Nasim Shah. These two have been singled out in the high performance emerging camp at Lahore NCA.

List A / T20:

1) Sahibzada Farhan
2) Zeeshan Malik (c)
3) Saud Shakeel
4) Mohammad Rizwan
5) Umair Masood (wk)
6) Nasir Nawaz
7) Mohammad Musa
8) Irfan Khan
9) Zafar Gohar
10) Arshad Iqbal
11) Mohammad Hasnain

Replace Rizwan with Danish Aziz.

Hasan Mohsin should feature in these tours or the Emerging Team (U23) Asia Cup.

Didn't Inzi say that nobody over the age of 30 will be selected for Pakistan A? I expect him to honour that statement.

Disgusting if true. How will PCB apologist defend this if true ? mak36

I'm not sure I follow. Are you suggesting I am a PCB "apologist" (whatever that means)?

Danish Aziz should be in the team, he seems to have a lot of potential.

Would also like to see a young off-spinner.

Whatever decision is made , you always defend it. Will be hilarious to see how you will find a way of defending the indefensible which this will be if true.

I was trying to give you a "get out" clause, but it appears you want to make a fool of yourself. Very well.

You imply from your statement that you read my posts but the evidence suggests otherwise; my views on Salman Butt are very clear which you would know and if you had actually bothered to read my previous posts. In fact I have already shared my views on this very topic (i.e. Butt potentially playing in the A team) when the issue first arose some time ago.

As for the more general observation you make, i.e. that I defend "whatever decision is made [by the PCB]", I am afraid you are mistaken once again.

For me, this management in particular deserves a lot of praise not least because there is an actual method/logic to what they do and the results speak for themselves. That is a sentiment I share with many others including Markhor. But that doesn't mean the PCB/management is beyond reproach. Indeed, if you had actually read my posts there are plenty of times I have criticised the PCB and its decision(-makers) as well as the management.

I appreciate objective critical analysis might be a difficult concept for you and your taskmaster Mamoon to grasp, particularly given your love for twisting the facts to fit your depressing narrative (in what one can only assume is a desperate attempt to be "edgy") but I think people have got bored of that pretty quickly.

Please do think for yourself. It's very refreshing...

p.s. I do hope this post was 'hilarious' enough for you.

I was referring Ataullah to your previous answer lol.

Ha, LOL...my stance, ... LOL

Well, we were granted some wishes like Hafeez, Imam etc. out, so can't have everything our way!

I just wish I can run in to Butt on the street and ask him if he is missing anything, when he asks what could that be...I would say 'Some sense of pride, ghairat, morals etc.'

The posts I have come across from you are defending the PCB like your life depends on it.

Also not agreeing with your every word doesn't make someone depressing. I will take a leaf out of your book , if you actually follow my posts you will see that I am much more positive about the future of Pakistan cricket than Mamoon. I have always maintained the stance that if we select the right players, we will be a top nation but obviously that doesn't fit your narrative.

Seems as though you are only seeing the posts that suit your narrative. Furthermore I am not on this forum to be positive for the sake of it , I am here to give my opinion and I won't apologise for it being different from yours.

I do think for myself thank you very much and will continue to post my opinions and not be positive and blindly patriotic for the sake of it.

The fact you needed to write such a long post , I find that humorous that you have been so riled :)) .

Stop embarrassing yourself.

Acknowledge your mistake and move on.

I believe you may be confusing him with someone else.

mak36 has always indulged in heavy criticism of PCB and Sethi where it's been warranted.

Thanks bhai.

I must admit it's been a strange couple of days.

On the one hand, I have had a poster accusing me of 'defending the PCB like my life depends on it' and and going so far as to say I would defend Butt's apparent selection for the A team, whilst another poster alleges I said Mickey liked Imad so much that he would fake his fitness tests- all in the space of one day! (Both false I should add).
