From the talent pool to the fitness levels to the game awareness to the composure in pressure situations.... India has progressed far ahead in every aspect of the game .

Not just Pakistan but every team apart from England and Australia is not in the same conversation as this Indian limited overs outfit.

It’s been a ten year process and is tied to IPL. The league has been pushing indian standards to new highs every year. In the early years the novelty was having young Indian cricketers play with the best players in the world and in front of packed crowds. But since then the aim for the IPL teams have to gain every incremental advantage possible and with quality international players in the roster being a given that has led to focus on making the players the best athlete they can be. I’m sure if there was a yo-yo Test among then Pakistan and Indian teams we may have maybe one Pakistani in the top ten if were lucky. The Indian players have great game awareness and their decision making is usually spot on. And most are unfazed by pressure.

Pakistan has PSL now so you don’t hear much moaning about IPL now but the fact is that our players have lost a lot by not having the chance to compete in IPL and see what standards the top players have. Sure right now we might only have a handful of them as starters in IPL team but just being around and taking that experience and knowledge back to the international camp is something the players have lost out on.

To sum it up indian cricket is leagues ahead in every possible way to Pakistan cricket and I don’t see it changing anytime soon. We may win here and there but doesn’t mean we are competing at same level as them. Time we accept it

Pakistan can't do much about BCCI and IPL. Best to focus on things we can control and that is our domestic cricket structure

The gulf between our cricket and theirs reflects in the difference of both countries captain.

After 1998ish all India ever needed was bowlers and they've finally got them.

Zaheer, Irfan Pathan, etc these guys were good but they weren't Bhuvneshwar & Bumrah good.

Their batting has always been top class.

Pakistan only had Inzi and Yousuf and then we had gun bowlers.

But now our batsman are even more awful and our bowlers are awful as well.

CT 2017 was the worst thing to happen to us.

No CT was great thing- why was it a bad thing. If we had lost then, it would have made no difference to the result today.

Yea as if some major rebuild after CT17 would have happened if we didn’t win

I read loads of posts and threads about IPL not being good and pakistani players being not exposed to that league is a 'blessing in disguise'.

Things change.

If we lost the CT, we would still picked the same dross because that's all we have, and we would never had the few weeks of joy that we did have.

IPL is T20 stuff, the PSL isn't bad either. We all know what the problems with Pak Cricket are on a hole. This is a 50 overs competition where India again are just too good for us. We have no world class bowlers, perhaps Amir if I am pushing it. No world class batsmen and a very average keeper/captain. There are no replacements who can do any better then the current lot having tried so many they have all failed.

We have invested smartly in both IPL and domestic first class cricket. Both have helped. T20 leagues can only help produce T20 level cricketers like Andre Russel who is a nobody in test cricket. Jasprit Bunrah is a test match superstar already and won us a test series in Australia and a test in England. He was quick to give credit to first class cricket which helped him become a complete player.

Pathetic domestic structure is the real reason behind our demise. IPLs and PSLs are just excuses.

I'm sure the middle order could have been strengthened if Pak had planned properly 2-3 years beforehand. Sarf is not good enough as a batsman and buday babay like Hafeez and Malik have no business playing international cricket never mind trying to compete with India at the WC. These players belong to a bygone era. But hey, seniority culture rules.

We say that every world cup that the next one will be different. In four years time the faces of our batsmen may be different but the quality will not be so. Hafeez is actually one of the best batsmen we have at the moment. Umar Akmal has failed and Haris Sohail is not gonna make it either to name just two.
