Pakistan announce T20I squad for series against Australia; Imad Wasim and Waqas Maqsood selected

Seeing Hafeez in the squad is a big disappointment . Inzi got to be worst selector we ever had.

5 pacers and no specialist spinners, instead relying on the all-rounders for spin. We just don't learn do we.

Shadab Khan and Imad Wasim are front-line spinners. Posts like this make me wonder if people would moan about a team having no specialist pacers if the bowling attack was headed by Imran Khan, Richard Hadlee and Shaun Pollock.

Imad was recently the #1 ranked T20 bowler while Shadab is a fantastic, young prospect. The fact that they can also bat should not make people underrate their bowling.

Does anyone has any confusion now to agree that MoHa's biggest bank is Ul Haq?

In a 15 member team, he has picked 5 pacers for UAE and NO WAY PAK is going to play 3 young batsmen (Farhan, Talat & Asif) in starting XI, means Ul Haq has ensured MoHa must start in T20s - probably as opener as well.

Sarfraz has saved his job at Abu Dhabi with bat and credit goes to him, would be my MoM in this game unless Abbas takes another 5; otherwise I would have put a bet here that MoHa would lead PAK in WC 2019.

Really making me desperate to say that now I am not sure whom to pick as CS between Ul Haq, Haroon Rashid & Iqbal Qashim.

I wonder how a Bangladeshi knows so much about the conspiracies in Pakistan cricket. Hafeez has been a very good T20 player and although, he is old, we must not let ageism prevent us from selecting the best players.

1) Fakhar Zaman
2) Sahibzada Farhan
3) Babar Azam
4) Hussain Talat
5) Shoaib Malik
6) Asif Ali/Faheem Ashraf
7) Sarfaraz Ahmed (c) (wk)
8) Imad Wasim/Shadab Khan
9) Hasan Ali
10) Shaheen Shah Afridi
11) Usman Khan Shinwari

Fantastic team. Sahibzada has the opportunity, let's see if he delivers. Hafee should also get a game.

This is really not very factual. Posted the stats earlier in this very thread.

Any T20 lineup with Hafeez at three is not 'brilliant'.

A reminder of his 'brilliance' in T20Is:

And this is not a small sample size, mind you.

Oh, and he's taken a grand total of 7 wickets in these 29 matches.

Yes Hafeez has been awesome in T20s recently averaging 16 at a strike rate of 100 in the last 30 matches.

A Bangladeshi can know about cricket, if he puts quality time in home work, therefore it's not a surprise. You can smell something fishy, regardless of nationality if you can read the numbers & connect dots with past history.

Unfortunately, you are wondering because you couldn't interpret some simple numbers given in this thread itself in Post No. 61.

Last PSL was pretty poor for Asghar. Agreed about Umaid Asif.

But thing about Waqas Maqsood is that he has been performing consistently in every format for sometime now

Last PSL was poor, but he was one of the finds of PSL1 and performed well in PSL2 aswell
FC performance is good aswell, so would like to see him in the test side soon aswell.

Our specialist spinner Raza Hasan has had an ordinary series against New Zealand A of all teams. Playing rubbish spinners just for the sake of playing a specialist spinner is not on.

Hasan Ali has an economy rate of 8.2 in T20s he'll do a lot better than that for sure playing fast bowlers for the sake of it doesn't work as they can be more leaky than spinners.

Hasan Ali is one of your match-winners in LOI cricket. The reason Pakistan cricket is in deep trouble is because of people like you who would like to see young players dropped after one or two failures.

Not a bad squad. Amir was okay in the Tri-series so surprised he's dropped from the T20I team too. No idea why Hafeez is there, his T20I record is awful, but I guess the fact that he can bowl works in his favour.

Good squad, tbh, but still the inclusion of Hafeez is mind-boggling.

Amir performed in the final taking 3 wickets and keeping it tight. If not for him AUS would have made 200 plus.

But its ok this series mehhh.
Amir needs to work on his bowling so dont mind him not being picked.

But hafeez:srt

He has done well in ODIs not in T20s an economy rate of over 8 overall is poor too leaky but is overlooked for some reason.

Playing 11 for 1st T20 should be,

Sarfaraz
Fakhar
Babar
Talat
Malik
Asif Ali
Imad
Shadab
Hasan Ali
Shaheen
Shinwari

Sarfaraz should open the innings at least in t20's, this will balance the team combination as well as we can get 100% out of him. He is useless at 6 or 7, where he can't clear the boundary at will.

You are pretty much disregarding half of his game. He has the 4th best economy-rate out of all spinners to have played at least 60 T20 matches.

Amir dropped is a great step, I want him to earn his place back in the side and

Guy hasn't been able to buy a wicket for the last two years, will be difficult to dislodge the guys that are performing but I guess his golden boy image will see him back sooner than later.

He has been bowling less than one over per innings in recent times. ::J

So basically, his standard contribution per match since the start of 2014 is:

16 runs off 16 balls

0.5 overs bowled, 6 runs conceded and 1 wicket every fourth match.

Seriously? :danish

Isn't that because half the time he has not been allowed to bowl? I may be wrong on this but I think Hafeez is eligible to bowl right now and should do so in the upcoming series.

Don't think the management has much confidence in his bowling. And if bowling is what he's been picked for, then he will thankfully be benched because Shadab and Imad are easily better. Heck, Nawaz has comparable bowling stats even.

Buy? Believe it’s more the past year that the problems have occurred
Ideally I want him out of the team till at least after PSL4, after that if his domestic performances are good enough select him, otherwise he can continue looking to improve

IIRC, they had Fakhar-Babar opening in the Sri Lanka T20 series with Talat at 3 and I think they should do the same here.

Fakhar
Babar
Talat
Sarfraz
Malik
Asif
Imad
Shadab
Hasan
Afridi
Usman

I think Babar opening in T20's makes a lot of sense since he usually needs some time to settle in and has the ability to play long innings unless they're able to find an opener who can score really fast like a Fakhar or Sharjeel.

Including a player in T20 squad on the basis of his century in recent TEST MATCH. Who else can do this except Pakistan :yk2

 at Imad Wasim and Hafeez. What makes it worse is both are playing tomorrow.

Personally, wouldn't have selected Maqsood in the squad but there is merit to his selection.
