I agree with you that Sarfraz is not a leader, and this has more effect on the team's mentality than any other aspect including the unpredictable tag. However the reality is your argument boils down to 2 points - 1. Pakistan are predictably mediocre, 2. Any win beyond expectation is a fluke vis-a-vis point 1.

What you should be arguing is why Pakistan’s Captain shields himself behind the unpredictable tag, rather than trying to demonstrate Pakistan are predictable through selective pigeon-holing statistics, when the facts demonstrate Pakistan is anything but predictable.

Tell me, was 105 all out a fluke from Pakistan's perspective, or from West Indies' perspective, because even you of all people were not expecting Pakistan to be skilltted for 105, and neither were the West Indies.

As for your view towards everything Pakistan, I really do not need to repeat this, it is clear as daylight, but I will say your feelings towards Pakistan not only skew your judgement but remove all hope of objectivity, and doubt.

105 was no fluke. Everyone and their mothers know Pakistan can collapse at any time, and to answer your unpredictable tag lets bring in logic and reasoning.

Which of the following teams is more likely to fold on 105?

Pakistan, India, Australia or England?

That right there is a symbol of being bang average. Not unpredictable.

Very true. We have become predictable at being mediocre. But things can change with confidence and bit of fluke like last CT 17
 
Oh and 105 all out is not even mediocre, it is outright garbage - hence was a fluke result.

That wasn't a fluke, it was an anamoly, sure, but that's the beauty of sport. Bangladesh making the semi-final was a fluke, as the rain saved them vs Bangladesh + other results went their way. Pakistan winning every game after the India loss was anything but a fluke. We looked like a very energetic, motivated team. But yes, Mamoon is spot on regarding the whole mentality debate, it's embarrasing and it's not even a good thing to be predictable, you want to be one of the most consistent teams.

It is not a contest, but the time has come for our fans as well as our players to change their mentality. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening.

In 2023, we will still be gloating over our unpredictability and cornered tigers mentality, as well as attempting to recreate what happened in 1992. When you thrive in mediocrity, you will never become a top team.
 
I think today's match against England is going to finally decide our fate in cricket for few years to come. We always were known to be the unpredictables, and many times we surprised the cricketing world. But to be honest I think this is a mediocre team and this unpredictable tag is finally gonna meet its logical end/conclusion today.

We need cricket structure reforms in the country where merit and discipline are valued. It will take few years of true reforms for us to rise again. We should learn from Bangladesh and India. Even Afghanistan may overtake us in few years, mostly because India is providing them with good facilities, in this way they will learn a lot from the top structure there in India and after applying it they may overtake us as well.

PSL isn't enough to save cricket when you have boring and mediocre domestic talents. The modern day cricket requires reliable power hitters or batsmen who can bat at a S/R of 100 at will. PCB should scout for power hitters in the country, as its the modern day requirement, kind of, for survival.

There is no other Pakistan. Pakistan have a batting lineup that can fire on a flat track. They scored 340+ 3 times recently

That 1st defeat was embarrassing. It's not wrist slitting. Getting out for a 105 is pathetic and there is no excuse for that.

The only difference between this match and the previous matches in the ODI series is that we managed to win the crunch moments. Otherwise, we competed very well against them throughout.

Idk why everyone is acting like this match has turned into a big revelation of some sort.

Unless we advance to the second round this win wouldn't mean much in hindsight.

Pakistan has been crossing the 300 mark consistently. It was a matter of getting the bowling sorted out which they did to some extent.
The first 6 games of the 13 were played by the B team which I believe was a horrible move by inzi.

Other than whatever dent Pakistan has done to England's confidence, the kind of performances we are seeing from England they will be a difficult side to beat this world Cup . This English team is a giant.

It's a shock considering we got whitewashed 5-0 in the recent series against England and then in our opening game we got bowled out for 105.

They beat us at the 2003 WC. They showed some highlights during today's game lol. They also beat us in the 2009 World T20 and at the 2010 world T20 .

Where did you get your facts from ?

England is the team to beat in this WC, with the kind of hype they are playing with. Any other team would take a lot of confidence from this victory. Pakistan even moreso, considering our suicidal run of form preceding this match.

You can be happy other the win but our fans are acting as though we have won the WC by talking about unpredictability and stuff. Only talk about that when we have won the tournament.

Me personally, I am just thinking about beating Sri Lanka. I am certain this game against England will be analysed to we play Sri Lanka. This WC format doesn't give you time to concentrate on winning 1 game. You concentrate on the next game.

India and Australia wouldn't be celebrating this win as much as Pakistan.
 
Pakistan will always be unpredictable , people should not waste their time trying to analyse this team , it will only make you look silly as we can see on this thread .

The only prediction which makes sense is Pakistan will entertain.
 
Yesterday's result doesn't change the fact that we're not 'unpredictable'. The stats don't lie, how often do we win series against big teams? How often do we win tournaments? You can count on one hand. Yes, it's true Pakistan have developed a reputation of being a strange team as one day they can play awful then the next day against the same opponents can just turn up and blow them away. No one denies that, that's more or less fact and a universal cricket rule of thumb. But unpredictable isn't the right word to use. I'd say we were unpredictable if our win/loss ratio (excluding minnows) was equal, i.e. an equal amount of wins and losses but it's clear that we get beaten a lot more often than we win, hence our record in bilateral series is as poor as it is. So I think a fairer assessment of PCT is a mediocre team who have a reputation of turning up and being capable of beating the big team every now and then, but no more than that. This isn't me bashing the team and I'm not really trying to downplay yesterday's win either, as I'm absolutely delighted with that and had that amazing feeling of a Pakistan win after a very long time, but just a frank assessment of where we are as a team overall. :)
 
Pakistan Unpredictable or not but certainly most dangerous team for any team in the world cup.
