Pakistan army decides to 'limit' National Day parade amid economic woes

Debt servicing is killing the economy of Pakistan, it is double the defence budget

PPP+PMLN leadership should be hanged in a chowk if they can't answer why they had to take $60b of loans and where they spent it.

Where do you think the money to buy oil, power stations and other imports came from?

Pakistan was (and still is) running a deficit in its overall foreign trade (merchandise, services and remittances) so it naturally had to keep borrowing money from foreign countries. Because they borrowed money doesn't mean it ended up in the pockets of the politicians. Some of the money was no doubt stolen, but a tens or even hundreds of millions is a small fraction of total borrowing.

If you want to stop borrowing money, the best way to do it to increase your exports. Imports such as oil and power stations cannot be reduced without harming the economy.

And who stopped these 2 parties from increasing exports in last 10 years?

PPP had to face global crisis, high oil prices so at least they have an excuse to escape but what excuse PMLN got? they came in a time when oil prices were at all time low and they had massive CPEC investment.

This year 2.5 to 2.8 trillion will be spent on debt servicing alone out of a 6.8 trillion budget.

I have already answered your question in multiple posts.

Briefly, the security situation and foreign policy choices that Pakistan has made is not conducive to Western FDI (which has been the driver for exports development in every country that has succeeded in the last 50 years). You can't expect US FDI if the Taliban armed by you is killing US soldiers in Afghanistan. Security situation and foreign policy choices are largely out of control of the civilian government.

I think out of my 5K posts to this forum, no fewer than 1K posts make the same point.

So people are praising Military to take the budget cut when they have no say in the matter to begin with?

Sums up how powerful the Military has been in Pakistan.

Military does.

You don’t since you have mentioned multiple times that you have no interest in returning to Pakistan.

Either you are too naive or you are simply lying.

Army has officially no say in making the budget.

You have 'no say' in Pakistan's military or any budget matter.

You have said multiple times, you got nothing to do with Pakistan and have no interest in returning to Pakistan.

So either you are lying or you forgot to remember your memorized narrative.

Pakistan army decides to 'limit' National Day parade amid economic woes

Amid economic woes, Pakistan Army has decided to ‘limit’ the Pakistan Day parade which is held every year on March 23, people familiar with the developments told ARY News on Friday.

Pakistan Day is celebrated to commemorate the passage of the 1940 Lahore Resolution, with Pakistan’s army showcasing its weaponry and military prowess.

People familiar with the developments within the Pakistan Army said that the parade will be held at the Presidency not at Shakar Piryian Parade Ground due to the economic crisis.

They further added that the decision was taken in line with the austerity drive announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Pakistan Army stands firmly united with the masses and will continue to work for the development of the country, the sources said.

Pakistan is facing an economic crisis and has been working for the revival of the IMF-stalled loan programme.
