What's new

Pakistan comprehensively defeat England by nine wickets in first Test at Lord's

But but but we were going to chase 150 and then caputalate :sree

Comprehensive win for Pakistan at Lord's once again.

Superb in all departments.

Haris Sohail giving them a strong beating in the end.

Waiting to hear Mamoon telling us how it was a fluke and how we are in disarray. Meme time.

A test match victory in England is always one to savor. Congrats to the team. And the fans.

What a waste this Bess is ....Moeen was far better.Even Root bowls better offspin than him.
Congrats PCT great win

It’s a fluke..
No no England have a mental block against us at Lords.

Fluke fluke fluke.

Well done to Team Pakistan.

Congrats to all my fellow Pakistanis who believed and didn't slit their wrists. Shoutout to my guys Markhor babajee Syed1 and others who stuck through.

For those who didn't believe and claim to be fans, tough luck. But just know this is a new era. A new dawn. You can't stop us. We are going to be a top 4 team in all 3 formats within the next couple of years, and there's nothing you can do about that.

Pakistan Zindabad. Alhamdulillah.

Congrats guys. Brilliant performance by this young team. Loads of talent on the camp. They will only get better

Have been on Umrah so have been unable to really follow but what a win!

Can't Wait to watch the highlights!

I came back 10 minutes ago. Thought thry had gone for lunch or something. Didnt know Haris had blown them away.

Must have been favourable conditions. :)))

Haha but honestly what a win by the inexperienced team without their key bowler - Yasir Shah. Absolutely brilliant. From bowling to batting to fielding all departments clicked and performed amazingly. Hats off to the coaching staff and the boys themselves who keep on improving and surprising us.

With Mickey Arthur and the current Pakistani team, i am supremely hopeful.

Since 2010 debacle ,pakistan have won 8 tests against england have lost only 2.

3-0 2012
2-0 2015
2-2 2016
1-0 2018 so far.

wow

well done Pak

thought they might blow them out early in the morning

but then to chase with 9 wickets in hand even with a low score

that's shocking for pakistan

thought it might be a bit too much for azhar to score again after a 50...

Congrats Pakistan, a dominant show against all odds (inexperience, early summer, no Yasir, pitch/overhead conditions, losing the toss etc). Now hopefully the players stay grounded and not lose focus, a series win is there for the taking. Historically the best Asian side in England, will be a travesty if that doesn't translate to a series win because even lightweights like India and Sri Lanka have won a series each over there in the last 20 years. So enjoy the win and hopefully your boys draw/win the next match.

Best part it was a team performance and there was no outstanding individual performance

We will do well in SA too.
Talented players of pace bowling like Usman and Saad are sitting out. Lot of potential in this side.

Congratulations team Pakistan. Won every session but one.

Big pressure will be on England at Leeds, Pakistan have a huge opportunity to win 2-0 and send England down the rankings.

Great performance by the team. Must say I was worried after yesterday's final session but I did not need to be at all.

Need one more big performance next week and could be our first test series win against England in England since 1996. That will be some feather in the cap for Safraz and Mickey.

Very Good win, but task is not finished yet. In 2016 Series we could have won it 2-1 but messed up at Edgbaston.
Now this time Pakistan needs to ensure they do not take their foot off the paddle and go out there in Leeds and win it or draw it atleast.

First series win since 1996.

Indeed great performance - beating Poms in a May Test and their home. I thought, I'll take a little nap & start it after lunch - bowlers ended the fun too quickly😩

Congratulations to everyone, particularly Sarfraz, for keeping fantastically throughout. This PAK side is heavily dependent on bowlers - he just proved what they (bowlers) can do if catching cordon can back them.

Well played, through professional, ruthless and confident performance- even Haris showed what I say about No. 3 for a good Test team. Abbas deserved the MoM, but I think after his opening spell on Day 1, Amir had been exceptional in this Test - just what one needs from the bowling leader, something PAK missed in past, batted well also.

Next is Leeds, where I expect Abbas & Amir to slice this Pom lineup like watermelon, if it’s a bit cloudy. FZ replaces Babar and rest is in perfect order - won’t be surprised if there is 3/4 changes in ENG XI; they have been total shambles in this Test, couldn’t match even Ireland on their debut.

Good luck for Leeds, for both Teams & fans - hope it doesn’t end in 3 days again.

Go Pakistan!!!

Discipline is what makes the difference. In batting we avoided the fishing outside the off stump line on most occasions and in bowling we kept the ball good to full length keeping the line tight closer to off stump. The coaching looks to be working and leadership maturing. All in all, fantastic display of cricket from Pakistan.

Lets hope for the good result again for Pak at Headingley where weather forecast looks to be good. A 2-0 win will be a great Eid gift to the nation.

What win!!

Waiting for Mamoon to write a three page essay as to how this was a fluke.

lol, wait for one bad session and suddenly we'll be the worst team in the world and Pakistan cricket is finished statements lol

When is our next tour to Australia... I really want us to win there atleast once and now that our team is on the upswing and Aussies are missing a few key players we can definitely beat them.

Congratulations to all the Pak fans.

I Haven't followed match but the scorecard suggests that it was indeed a comprehensive victory for Pakistan. I must admit that I was expecting Pak to get smashed in UK.

"Pakistan cricket has been in a downward spiral for two decades" - Fluke master

In just last 2 years

2016: Drew series with England
2016: Reached number 1 ranking in Tests
2017: Won Champions Trophy
2017: Reached and sustained number 1 ranking in T20 (no other team has held it longer iirc)
2018: Beat NZ in NZ in a T20 series (no other Asian side has done that)
2018: Beat England in a Lord's test and may go on to win series

Downward spiral :))

Didn't expect us to win the opener tbh, but not just win, but to totally dominate a Test. Fantastic cricket by the lads, and great tactics by the bowlers.

My comments are being taken out of context as usual. Just because I think the Champions Trophy was a fluke does not mean that every Pakistan win has to be one.

This was certainly not a fluke, we outplayed England in all departments over the four days and pretty much won every session barring one. That cannot be a fluke.

You can have a fluke day, but you cannot fluke over 10 sessions. Truly a clinical performance by the team. England have a lot of soul searching to do. They have been playing awful Test cricket for months now - the batting is simply not reliable at all. Certainly the worst Test cricket England have played over a prolonged period since the late 90's.

The wicket had no grass and opting to bat first was a poor decision. However, Pakistan's execution was simply far better than England's and it was a well deserved victory.

Today's iftari will taste sweeter.:inzi2 Our batsmen have been scoring runs for the last few years in test cricket, it is our pace bowlers that needed to step up. They did in this test match and we won easily.

Alhamdulillah and congratulations everyone, now Plz stay gentle and humble in victory, because things can change very quickly, well done lads keep it up, we want 2-0 iA

We were told by you that the 2016 tour in late summer was the reason why Pakistan drew it 2-2. Had we toured in early summer - things would have been different. Well you got your answer today.

Doesn’t matter what time you play - the team who plays well wins.

The newest excuse of the lot:

'Pakistan is England's Bogey team so this is indeed a fluke'

Credit should be given to Mickey Arthur.
He has turned Pakistan into a mighty side.
:salute

Sublime performance.

Micky is doing a great job and Abbas is a great find.

All XI contributed.

Overjoyed.

The conditions that Sri Lanka faced in May 2016 are different to the ones we faced at Lord's. Also, England had a few injury problems. However, this time, they have had their full strength team so credit should be given to Pakistan for outperforming England. Yes the pitch had no grass, but they still bowled and batted far better than England.

Best post ever.

I was out this morning, tuned in at lunchtime and it was already over. Very comprehensive win, and pretty hard to see England coming back at this stage. Pakistan look a very useful outfit in these conditions, their seam bowlers are loving this.

Yes, the pitch had no grass. Global warming has had a tremendous effect on Lord’s in two years that the grass was blown away this year. Had it been any other May in any other year - things would have been chaotic for Pak team.

Last year in CT - Pak team had to win 4 knock out games in a row to win the cup. It was not a fluke. It was the beginning of a new era under Arthur-Sarfraz.

You are just one bitter person - who got caught like a deer gets caught in headlights. Show me your Indian passport.

Just beacuse you are wrong almost every time doesnt mean that you are wrong

Relax bro, I am sure you are happy as well. Poms got a real hammering from unexpected corners. You can see that from their decision - batted first in a May Test, thinking whatever, over 2 innings PAK isn’t a match for them. PAK played last FC game probably in Dec ‘17 before this tour; since then Poms have played like 8 Tests & 20+ FC games... and then this. If you alter the preparation, it could have been a 2 Day Test !!!!

It’s good fortune for England that there wasn’t much grass on a softish surface - otherwise couple of 2 digit scores were waiting for them, trust me.

LOL at the GIF!

Someone explain me the logic of the poster in comments above, "You can have a fluke day, but you cannot fluke over 10 sessions." LOL. So you can have a fluke day in Champions trophy, how would you win FREAKISHLY by fluke in games after games in a tournament? So per the troll, you can only win temporarily by fluke, unless your are Pak, only then then you can win a TOURNAMENT by a fluke. This beats me.

No bro, Indians do not believe CT as a fluke win. Only some Pak brothers believe so.

It is just a case of an individual thinking they are smarter than everyone else, and now trying to "logically" justify their predictions. Classic case of the Dunning-Kruger phenomenon.

Well played Pakistan, congratulations.

The youngsters like Ali, Abbas and Shadab performed really well. The future looks bright for the team.

But what about Ul haqs selection?

Can't believe our team pulled off such a clinical performance. The stuff of dreams!!! Hopefully we can carry on from where we left off in Headingly too and claim the series.

Well done Pakistan. Brilliant performance.
Mamoon getting an absolute hammering here :)) Surprised he still continues to make definitive predictions, after Pakistan has time and again proved him wrong.

Congratulations to Pakistan, absolutely brilliant guys, to beat Eng in Eng in just over 3 days is truly magnificent.

Keep it up, Go and win the series now.
