Pakistan won the toss for the CT semi and opted to field first as an injured Amir was replaced by debutant Rumman while Shadab came in for Faheem. England replaced the misfiring Roy with Bairstow. England got off to a decent enough start with Hales and Bairstow getting away a few boundaries though there was an early unsuccessful review from Pakistan. Hales was the first to fall in the sixth over, driving Rumman to cover for his maiden ODI wicket. Bairstow continued on while Root got runs at a good clip regardless of the lack of boundaries as the two put on a decent partnership. However, Hasan came into the attack and struck with his third ball as a top edge from Bairstow was caught in the deep, out for 43. Another decent partnership developed between Root and Morgan but the run rate remained low and it was Shadab who broke the stand as Root tried to cut one and was caught behind. The situation went from bad to worse for England as Morgan swiped at a good delivery by Hasan and was caught while Junaid got one to nip away from Buttler and had him caught behind. Moeen held out for a bit before he holed out to a Junaid short ball, with Fakhar taking a superb catch while Rashid was run out a few overs later courtesy a Shehzad direct hit. Hasan returned to bring Stokes' fighting 34 to an end with a good slower delivery as he was caught while Rumman got Plunkett. Wood was the last one out, run out by Sarfraz as England were bowled out for an underwhelming 211 with a ball to spare.

Pakistan's chase began brightly with a top edged six by Fakhar in the very first over followed by Ball gifting five wides which was to set the tone for the rest of the innings. Once again, it was Fakhar who was the aggressor as he looked to punish even the slightest mistake while Azhar looked to anchor the innings. For a chase of 212, this seemed like an ideal approach and that certainly seemed to be the case as the two were able to deflect everything that the English threw at them. England's short ball strategy didn't bare fruit as Fakhar swayed out of line, but when it wasn't head high, he pulled the ball away to the boundary. Azhar also looked to be in some semblance of form as he played some superb drives as the two put on a hundred partnership. Fakhar got to his fifty off 49 balls while Azhar got there at the 68 ball mark. Fakhar's strike-rate ensured Pakistan were well ahead of where they needed to be though he eventually fell to Rashid as he went for a big shot, missed and was stumped for 57. Azhar carried on while Babar looked at ease from the moment he arrived at the crease, hitting Rashid for a maximum early in his innings. The runs continued to come at a good clip for Pakistan as the English bowlers wilted. A shorter ball saw England dismiss Azhar as he dragged it on to his stumps but he had done his job with a good knock of 76. Hafeez looked to be in the mood to finish off the game soon and that he did, as he smacked Rashid for a six and then took Stokes for a maximum and a four as well. Two boundaries off Moeen and another off Stokes and Pakistan had raced to the target with 12.5 overs and eight wickets remaining, a massive win for the men in green.

A near perfect display from Pakistan. Kudos!

If someone had told me that Pak would reach the final of the CT before the tournament, i'd have laughed at their face. Time to eat some humble pie.

What an amazing win. England looked so strong and it turned out one sided match.
Congrats everyone and now please finish the job in the final.
Crushing Victory!!

An emphatic victory and a memorable day for all Pakistan supporters.

An excellent all round display.

Green storm all over the world.
Go for it boys and bring the cup home.
#BringTheCupHome

congratulations to Pakistan on a tremendous victory, one to savour. Proud of the cornered tigers, they came out fighting and proved their worth, Made the country proud.

Smart man.

This is what all players should do. Use a translator.

Look how easy it is for him.

Yeaaahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cmon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alhamdulillah we are in the Finals!

:pakflag2

Pakistan Zindabad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay! 18th June is real now!
#No mercy
Specific team should be up for a real beating

At one point we weren't even gonna qualify for this tournament.

Now we're gonna play in the finals, haha.

I cant express my emotions at the moment.
I am just overwhelmed.
I hope India was watching the game. And of course Bangladesh. Green tigers are in the finals, waiting to prey.

An absolutely superb performance...

Could not have gone much better...

Where are all the people who did nothing but talk smack against Azhar in the match thread?

Twice now he's top scorer

This is unbelievable. Ecstatic right now. Congrats everyone. What a day

micky safaraz and azhar(both mehmood and ali) deserve the credit. try not to forgot hassan ali

Absolutely gobsmacked to be honest. I don't know why, I should have learned by now, England always look like world beaters and then they come up against Pakistan. Just their bad luck that they have run into a team which is shedding the old guard and is revitalised by the new blood. Great win, some of England's super-hitters now need to have a look at their game and ask themselves if they really are all that.

Congrats, credit goes to the youngsters hope bangladesh make the final so i can buy cheaps ticket for the final.

Fakhar, Junaid instead of Shehzad and Wahab have made such a difference. Obviously Hasan Ali has been great. Going forward Harris should also be reinducted in the playing 11.

Congrats Pakistan. well deserved victory ✌.
Bowlers bowled really well. Batting also good today. Though fielders held catches today (except that one drop catch) they need to work on their ground fielding. There's some easy doubles which should've been just a single.

Congratulations..
Regardless of the final's result, some one can make a film out of it already. Can turn out to be a great inspirational flick for your next gen cricketers.

The climax will be a bit disappointing though. 😁

satisfying to win, but also to see a real contest between bat and ball. a complete cricket match.

Can't believe it to be honest. After the India match I feared the worse. But a few changes have given us a great combination. No more shezad and no more wahab..

For me I don't care what happens now..this team is ready to get up those rankings and fight a proper WC campaign..

Masha'Allah great win by Pakistan hopefully win the final as well Insha'Allah

We barely qualified for CT'17 & now we're in the finals. Our team never fails to amaze us, kudos Green shirts. Lets win the final also and say hello to a new era of Pakistan's Odi cricket.

Out in the group stages they said.
Not winning a single match they said.

Abysmal loss against India as predicted.

South Africa will send Pakistan out the tournament they said. Bowled them out for 219.

Lankans beat India so they should beat Pakistan they said. Bowled them out for 236 and chased a thriller.

England the destructive undefeated tournament favourites England will bounce Pakistan out the tournament with short pitched deliveries they said and bat Pakistan out the game with 350 they said. Bowled them out for a mere 211.

Pakistan at the start of the innings I was like they dropped their best lower order bat in Fahim Ashraf and stuck with Hafeez and Azhar and what a gamble it paid off.

When have we ever seen or witnessed a one-sided dominating match in which Pakistan were the dominators?

Bowling has clicked and Safraz has put some confidence in his batsman to go out there and chase.

It just goes to say you get the basics right and everything else will fall into place. Fakhar Zaman has been a breath of fresh air up the order and Azhar supported him very well today. Both of the openers really played the english attack with ease!

Pakistan were always a fast bowling formidable unit and once they get going there is no stopping them!

This is the perfect opportunity to end this losing streak against India. Its high time they got brought back down to earth.

If there is a team that is lifting the trophy on Sunday its Pakistan be it against Bangladesh or be it against India who we never seem to beat.

We just beat the crap out of England in their back yard infront of their home fans!

This is World T20 2007 all over again and 1992 all over again.

We are PAKISTAN and we are here to WIN!

Bring it on!!!

This would never have been possible without Hasan Ali as simple as that.
He has taken 9 wickets in his last 3 matches and has now 39 wickets in 20 games at an average just under 24.
Never knew that the guy that made his debut last year, would be this good. Amazing progress ma sha Allah.

Congrats Pakistan for being the first team to reach Finals.
I knew you were gonna make it.

See you there, bring your best

We bowled yorkers
We bowled short. Gave England taste of there own medicine.
We choked them with spin
We bowled fast and straight and accurate.
We played with heart and passion
We stopped the runs
We kept on attacking and stopped there flow of runs.
We held on to the catches and attempted some difficult ones.
We hit the stumps with a direct hit.
We batted with intent.
We rotated the strikes with singles and doubles and triples.
We hit the boundaries
We built the partnerships.

We put trust in the batsman and they all delivered and we won by 8 wickets chasing 212 with 13 overs to spare.

Today we saw the real PAKISTAN team turn up and destroy the English destructive batting!

This match was very similar to the India vs SL match.. It wasn't that India played bad.. SL was simply beautifully playing out of their skin to win that one. Same thing with Pakistan.. Pakistan throughout the match played beautifully well to outperform the English.

great captaincy by sarfraz. he was asking bowlers where he wants his fielders. agressive inteligent captaincy.

Indians are gonna get more value for their money!!!!!

..A word to the wise, that shameless lot would do anything to see Pakistan lose. The tickets were wasted in the sense that, they never got what they came for; Pakistani tears.

P.S. It will surely be a Pakistan vs India final. Looking forward to the spectacle!

He was brilliant tonight, it was a wonderful blend of attack, choke, damage limitation and destroy. Pakistan well and truly played to their potential today, now if they can yield such results on a regular basis; this team could fast become a force to reckon with.

congratulations guys for making into final, played like lion and rightly well deserved !!

Absolutely delighted. Perfect birthday for me. I had an A level in the afternoon and was watching the match at home before my exam. Moeen Ali had just got out before I went into my exam and by the time I came out, first thing I done was checked the score saw we were 90 odd for 0. Absolutely delighted

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat performance..just one more boys and you will make us fans even more happy.

Three matches in a row where the Pakistan bowlers have shown a lot of skill and reminded observers that limited overs cricket need not just be about thrashing blades. The Pakistan approach to subverting the muscular style of batting prevalent in this era has been to attack with the ball, to look to take wickets.

My only concern is that if they play the final on a flat pitch, which to some extent negates their bowling, it then becomes more of a contest between the batting teams and Pakistan don't tend to out-fire many teams with the bat, notwithstanding a good display with the bat today.

For the first time in many years, I really enjoyed watching Pakistan on the field. There was quality bowling, aggressive captaincy, no Misbah like strategy with the ball or bat, etc. The young guys have a swagger about them and they should keep believing in themselves. Bring on the final!

Congrats Pakistan absolutely brilliant with the ball and on the field once again. Pretty much a perfect performance with even the batsmen coming to the party. England just had no answers. Hasan Ali whattay find. Player of the tourney thus far for mine.

Ain't no cornered tigers anymore. We're out in the open and hunting prey left and right. Ain't nobody safe. The beast has been unleashed. :akhtar :akhtar:akhtar

Wow wow, just wow! What a demolishing job done by Pakistan! A near flawless win and the first real convincing win by the team. This team looks strong to touch the trophy come Sunday. :afridi1

It may sound negative to be saying this after the kind of performance Pakistan have put in yesterday, but do not forget the three dropped catches. Maybe difficult chances, but nowadays teams take at least one or two of such catches, easily.

For a team to win a global event anyway, tough chances will have to be taken. Such let-offs in the final will prove costly, even if the bowling continues to strike regularly after those dropped catches. This surely needs to be looked at. Even in a crushing win like this, Pakistan´s tendency to field badly stays on....

It was such a humiliation and a billion dollar fluke :moyo

What a birthday gift this was. Had an exam this day but was more nervous for this semi final. The exam was in the afternoon and instead of revising in the morning, just watched this. Pakistan were dominating when I went into the exam and all I could think of in that exam was the prospect of a Pakistan India final. This was just a great day!

We domlished them comprehensively.Apart from start of the first innings,Pakistan was in compleete contro.

One of the best matches I remember watching.

I hope you passed your exam too!

While the final was pure, epic joy, the epic stomping and absolutely clinical ruthlessness in this game was just pleasing to follow. I was working and all I could do is follow ball by ball commentary.
