Pakistan on Thursday condemned the thrashing of people in south Kashmir for “celebrating’ Pakistan win in ICC Champions Trophy in England.

"Indian forces may be brutally beating up Kashmiris for celebrating Pakistan Cricket Team’s win in the Semi Final as they did after Pakistan won on 12 June at Cardiff. Indian Forces broke into shops and looted goods to punish Kashmiris celebrating Pakistan’s victory," Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said on Thursday.

The reaction came during the weekly routine press briefing of Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria in the capital on Thursday, Radio Pakistan reported.

He also welcomed the Russian President Vladimir Putin's offer for mediation between India and Pakistan in resolving ongoing tension between the two countries.

The prime minister had met the Russian president in Kazakhstan on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit held in Kazakhstan earlier this month, the report said.

Imagine what will happen if Pak defeat India on Sunday?

Any other source? I think half the news about Kashmir good or bad is cooked up by vested interests to either polarise Kashmiris against army even more or by governments to show they are the good guys fight in the evil guys..

Doubt this happened but you never know what Happens in this crazy world..

All of this would not happen just over celebrations.

Pretty sure there is more to this story than just some innocent bursting of fire crackers.

Some anti India slogans, some pro Pak, pro independence slogans surely would have taken place.

They had a prime time debate on channels like india today, cnn and the republic to discuss Umar Farooq's tweet in which he congratulated Pakistan for winning against England. A prime time debate for a tweet for goodness sake. Let that sink in.

I'm sure India has bigger problems to discuss than what someone is tweeting.

Still doesnt warrant violence on unarmed people.

Madplayer Was the last year's UPSC topper Athar Aamir Ali from the valley?

So much for a democratic country i can understand the situation over there.Hopefully pakistan win this match.

It doesn't mean u thrash people and enter into their houses af night......
my only concern is that if the local police does such things it can be understood bcz they will come up with an excuse but what has ARMY and BSF to do with it.... They are simply meant for guarding borders, wat are they doing on the streets of Kashmir.
I mean has Army and BSF being given the role of beating the citizens?????

Mate a leading news channel once for 3 days did continuous debates because congress in 2004 hired a Pakistani later to fight a case in ICJ.. The same lawyer is fighting for Pakistan in kulbhushan case so when they got to know congress hired him back in the day for 72 hours on stop it was "breaking news"..

News channels these days show anything and make it sound like Huge news.. The real news are never shown most of the times..

Scores of tear gas shells and chilly grenades were also fired in our locality....

If it happened then whoever responsible should be punished as per law and taken action against.. What would be achieved by taking such actions? Will only enrage people further..

Almost 90% of the aspirants do their coaching in the valley..... there is huge no. of coaching institutions for competitive exams in the valley...... there are coaching centres in far flung areas as well.... i myself haven't even heard name of those places...
some elites prefer delhi for coaching...... this year BILAL had also done his coaching somewhere outside kashmir

I was in a bus in jammu and saw a couple of burqa clad girls holding books meant for competitive exams. Went into shock as it did not conform to my views of reality.

Yes I know that but if peace is to prevail in India whoever does not follow the constitution and breaks any laws regardless of who he or she is should be dealt with by the law.. Nothing will happen ofcourse just saying what should happen..

What do u mean? Lol burqa wearing girls dont want to have a good career? Every Kashmiri wants to study and have a good career. Political views wont and shouldnt stop them from pursuing their career goals.

Brother u hav just said a thing which is the root cause of ALIENATION of Kashmiris......
Forget about punishing everyone..... if only they punish one security personal for doing injustice with people or if only one security personal accused of killing an innocent Civilian is strictly PUNISHED..... nobody would dare to do it again....
and 90% of the voilence would stop....
just one example ARMY had carried out a no. of FAKE Encounters in the valley and the Army personals got promotions after promotions for FAKE ENCOUNTERS...... but once security personals involved in MACHIL FAKE ENCOUNTER were punished..... although they were just given life imprisonment for murder but after that fake encounters have declined a hell lot....

Ofcourse army is supposed to protect people and give them a sense of safety, whenever I go near any cant area I feel like the safest place anywhere.. Same should be the case for every other citizen of he country, even Kashmiris should feel safe in he presence of army and if they are resenting the army then that perception has to be changed and the reasons for that resentment should be resolved..

Anyways it's all ideal world talk nothing is gonna happen so no point talking about it further

TURKWANGAM (SHOPIAN): Army soldiers revisited Turkwangam in the middle of the night to inflict more injuries and damage and humiliation on a village they had attacked just three nights before. Twenty-five persons have been reported to be injured, at least 10 of them suffering fractures in their legs and arms, in the brutal assault carried out by soldiers past Friday midnight.
Fayaz Ahmad Lone, a resident of the village, told Kashmir Reader that at least 20 army soldiers barged into his house at 2am. He said they assaulted every family member who was inside the house. “They beat us indiscriminately,” he said. “My wife and my sister-in-law have fractures in their arm and leg. The soldiers hammered me on the head with gun butts. They beat my wife and sister-in-law with metal rods and gun butts.”
Seven women from the village had fractures or severe injuries due to the assault. A 50-year-old woman was seen crying from the pain of her injuries.
Family members of Ghulam Hassan Dar told Kashmir Reader that about 30 soldiers barged into their house and beat them for an hour. “They left two of my sons with fractures. They used gun butts and metal rods to beat us. We cried for help but no one could come, as the forces had laid a siege outside our house,” said the wife of Ghulam Hassan.
Family members of Abdul Aziz Lone said that the soldiers broke down the front door of their house. The soldiers beat up and harassed the women when they tried to rescue the males, the family said. A girl from the family said, “One of the soldiers put two of his fingers into my nose and tried to kill me by suffocating my breath.”
A group of elderly people from the village said that there isn’t anybody in the world to punish the army. “Where can we go, what is our crime? Were we born to face the frustration of the army in this lawless land, where anyone can enter our houses and beat us?” lamented 70-year-old Abdul Rasheed.
Jameela Banoo, 40, wife of Gulzar Ahmad Lone, said that 20 soldiers broke down the front door of her house and beat up her family. “About 20 troopers entered our house and beat us. My two sons have severe injuries,” she said and began to cry.
The soldiers also smashed vehicles parked on the streets or in the courtyards of houses. Villagers said that several residential houses were ransacked and damaged by the soldiers.
According to the villagers, several people have been referred to Srinagar hospitals for treatment of their injuries and bone fractures. This could not be verified and it was not clear which person had been referred to which hospital.
Three nights before this assault, army soldiers had attacked Turkwangam village after Monday midnight, breaking into some 40 houses and severely beating up their inmates, leaving many of them with fractures. The soldiers also vandalised houses and vehicles. So terrified were some villagers that several of them fled the village in the middle of night when they heard that soldiers had arrived in the village once again.
Defence spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia did not respond to repeated calls.

The villagers should not sleep now. They should gather out in collectivity and keep watch during the night. Thats the best they can do now.

This is what pushes people to take up arms. The helplessness, the humiliation, the fact that nobody would listen to their pleas. What a scary situation!!

That is just horrible, what I dont get is how normal Indians can defend or even just ignore this? I mean I understand being patriotic and supporting the army but if sections of your army are committing clear human right abuse then the least you can do is admit that its wrong and needs to stop .

If it happened then whoever responsible should be punished as per law and taken action against.. What would be achieved by taking such actions? Will only enrage people further..

IRRC didn't the army guy who used a innocent as a human shield, get rewarded for his actions? Hope the same dosen't happen here.

Like you said people responsible for this should be punished by the law but unfortunately that seems unlikely, hope I am wrong though.

Normal Indians don't defend it neither do they ignore it...... they hav always raised their voice against it and we are thankful for that.... they simply can't do anything beyond that and whatever they do is appreciable.... big_gamer007 is one amongst them....

It's just those so called FAKE PATRIOTS whose job is to just add fuel to the fire and it's only them who defend these things and even award and encourage such people....... they are small in no. but the fact is they are most powerful.....
Their voice overpowers the voice of a BILLION people in INDIA...

I don't really follow news but I think there was a thread started here that he got promoted or got a medal..

One can only hope and pray but that doesn't really change ground realities.. No one should live in fear and terror and the only way forward is for top army generals and government to punish anyone who breaks the law and also to engage with the local people to build back up the trust in the Indian state..

The more you hear of such instances the more people would be alienated, TBH I have had a talk about it with many people over the years and people don't wanna hear about the other side of the story and are actually of the view what happens to Kashmiris is their fault and they deserve it.. You can blame the media for it but I don't think these people are in minority I think they are in majority..

Its going to be a s#itshow in the valley and social media tomorrow.. Expect a lot of filth on either side .. .

Mubarak to all Kahsmiri brothers and sisters , this trophy is just as much yours as any Pakistanis.

Thank you to the Kashmiri brethren for their love and support. We know that you are more Pakistani then the Pakistanis themselves. No matter how much India tries to blame Pak military for the situation in IoK you hearts beat with Pakistan and it's people! I don't see any Pakistani fauji or ISI forcing them to celebrate today's win.
