Pakistan Cricket: A bunch of timid cats?

Some fans relentlessly say that Pakistan are talentless , no talent is coming up. Total bogus. Substance less talking.

Pakistan has talents no doubt.The main problem has been, for more than 2 decades there had been biased, ridiculous selection of the squad.it has been going on on and on.

Suppose you have Miandad, Injamam, Selim Malik in your domestic arena and at the same time you have Hafeez, Akmal and Maqsood playing domestic cricket.if you pick up the later 3 and say that there is no talent then it's bogus.

And the timing. Pakistan picked Misbah, Fawad past their prime @35 plus ,at the fading end of their career. Look at picking up fast bowlers like Sohail Khan, aizaz cheema, Mohammad Irfan, Tanveer Ahmed. Spinners like Azmal,Zulfiqar Babar . They were all good fast bowlers and spinners who could dominate. But all were picked up first at old age. Why?

The sheer stupidity of our board, selectors and team management over the years is mind boggling. They curtailed the careers of real legends way too early. Wasim could have played on a couple of years, same with Saeed Anwar, they banned Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf at one point. They curtailed Yousuf’s career way too early too. These were Legends of Pakistan cricket.

But when they have total mediocre losers like Misbah, Hafeez, Malik, Azhar Ali they decide it is time to give “seniors” extended runs in the team.

Exactly. I missed this point . Saeed Anwar, Yousuf ,Asim Kamal,Riaz Afridi ,Kabir Khan could have a great career but cut short in favor of below average players.

There was a time when Pakistani Cricketers used to outplay other nations based on skill and talent only. Your strategies, tactics, matchups, data, etc didn't mattered much. But now time has changed.

All these tools and methodologies are used cleverly and with a lot of thinking and long term planning by big Cricket nations. Mind has a huge role to play in this Sport now and just using that they outplay and outfox talented and skilled individuals.

Pakistan lost to New Zealand B/C side recently. They were probably less skilled than Pakistani main team but they used their mind and stuck to simple plans and strategies that won them the game. They held of Sodhi as Fakhar was batting and continued to bowl their main bowlers as they knew Pakistan were waiting for weak link bowlers. Kiwi team ended up squeezing Pakistan and by the time the weak links came, the required run rate was too much. But this thing Pakistani players didn't understood.

In Lahore the data showed if you post big target. It will be difficult for chasing team to chase it down. But because Pakistan lost the last game at Pindi while defending. They applied the same logic here in Lahore and overemphasized on dew.

You see while chasing other nations keep in check with their required run rate. Even guys like Marnus Labuschange focused on taking singles and doubles in the Final of WC23 when he was not getting boundaries and played a super supporting role to Head.

Pakistan Cricket needs to develop a thinking mindset in players as well. I know this is down to our nation being uneducated and poor but Pakistan cannot compete at the highest level anymore. Unless they evolve their minds as well.
