What's new

Pakistan cricketers spend day(s) in a local mosque ahead of tour of South Africa

You cant control a society as a whole but you surely can control small group of players under you. Else you can do anything and pass the blame on to the society.

These players found a way to go against NZ protocols, where they’re very stringent with their rules for covid. I didn’t see people blaming NZC for not controlling the players better. At some point these adults need to take responsibility for their own actions.

Yes. We agree the players are equally guilty, however for sure there has to be some control over the deviating ones.

Asking them to take responsibility for their own actions is right but who is taking action if they don't follow this dictum. After all the laws are well written but we still have the Police and the Judiciary for compliance and penalties.

Amazing that some ignorant folk still believe that this was an ok thing to do. It makes no difference which day it was, it was a silly, high risk and dangerous thing to do.

As far as I am aware mosques had to be closed as did other places of worship around the world. If they were exempt from Covid, then why the need to close them?

Is the pcb going to hold these players to account?

I think they are part of the problem If they are gonna shrug their shoulders each time and not sanction players then these things are going to.keep happening

I am sure no God is so selfish He will say spread disease and kill old and vulnerable peole to pray to me. Its not even about being religious or secular but about having a bit if humanity and consideration for those vulnerable

Comprehension fail. The guy I was responding to had issues with cricketers being seen praying at the mosque. The usual nonsense from the secular brigade.

In these times, every notable Islamic scholar has stressed the importance of praying at home, social distancing, wearing a mask, etc. I don't support the careless attitude towards public safety in Pakistan, as I've alluded to in a previous post.

This cricket strategy does not work, otherwise Pakistan would have been world champions in all 3 formats for the last 20 years.

Cricketers are a reflection of the society and country they live in. Pakistan as a country overall has taken Covid very lightly and chill and its a miracle that the country hasn't faced a health disaster

Think people by large in several countries are taking the covid situation lightly, not until long back the US president was talking that masks are useless. However, in all the countries, the educated folks, the ones playing sports are aware of the need of masks and social distancing. What surprizes me is in Pakistan that doesn't seem to be the case.

From what I’ve heard, a single, good and effective face mask costs around Rs 1000 or even Rs 1500 in Pakistan.

If you look at the inflation and population under the poverty line, for many, it perhaps becomes a question between bread vs mask.

Any month+nose covering is better than nothing. Its disingenuous to claim poverty when defending carelessness.
