India won the toss and elected to field first in the Champions Trophy final as Mohammad Amir returned to the Pakistan XI, replacing Rumman Raees. The Pakistan openers were nervy at the start with a bit of swing on offer. Bumrah has Fakhar caught in the initial overs but replays showed he had overstepped. That was to be the last chance for the bowling side for quite a while. The Indian bowlers had done their homework and gave minimal room to Fakhar which led to him taking a backseat as Azhar took over as the aggressor. The former ODI captain played some excellent shots while the Indian bowlers conceded plenty of extras meaning that the pace of the innings was not a problem. After the initial 10 overs, Fakhar settled down some what and began to go after the spinners as both batsmen brought up their fifties. However, confusion between the wickets saw Azhar run out for 59 with the team total at 128. Fakhar didn't let this upset him, instead using the platform to plunder 33 runs off the next two overs from Jadeja and Ashwin as the Pakistan innings suddenly gained momentum. With his partner now looking in brutal form, Babar looked to hand over the strike to him. It wasn't long before Fakhar brought up a magnificent 92-ball hundred. However, Pandya soon struck to remove the left-hander for an excellent 114. Babar struggled to up the ante while Malik struggled against the pacers - the latter soon perished to Kumar as Pakistan lost a bit of momentum. After the dismissal, Babar struck a few boundaries as Pakistan regained lost ground while Hafeez came out to bat like a man on a mission, smashing the spinners straight away. With around 7 overs remaining, Babar fell to Jadhav for 46 as he was caught in the deep. Hafeez continued plundering the Indian bowling attack while Imad joined in and rotated strike well while Hafeez did the big hitting. He brought up a fifty off just 34 balls. Despite decent spells by the Indian pacers at the back end, Pakistan made their way to a massive 338/4 in 50 overs.

The Indian chase got off to a miserable start as Amir swung one back into Rohit third ball to have him dismissed LBW. The Pakistani bowlers gave nothing away in the initial few overs, making the Indians work hard for their runs. Amir then got one to shape away slightly from Kohli who edged to the slip cordon, but Azhar grassed the catch. However, it didn't turn out to be a costly drop as Kohli tried to flick the next ball towards the leg-side, got a leading edge and was superbly caught by Shadab. Into the fifth over of his spell, Amir produced another beauty to get rid of the dangerous looking Dhawan who was caught behind. India's chase was in tatters by then and the situation only worsened as Yuvraj struggled against Shadab and was eventually trapped LBW after a superb decision to review the on-field call led by the 18-year-old bowler himself. Hasan came into the attack and soon dismissed Dhoni, the veteran pulled one into the leg-side and was superbly caught by Imad as India were reduced to 54/5. Jadhav played a few shots before he also fell victim to Shadab, top edging one for an easy catch. After a sedate period, Pandya decided to go after the spinners and it bore fruit for the Indian batsman as he rapidly neared a fifty, eventually getting there off just 32 balls. Jadeja was playing the supporting role while Pandya took Shadab for four sixes including three in a row, and then hit Fakhar for two more. However, a mix-up between the batsmen brought his innings to an end as he was run out for 76 off just 43 balls - the young all-rounder was furious at his senior partner. The rest of the innings was a mere formality as Junaid got Jadeja caught in the slips, followed by Hasan picking up the last two wickets of Ashwin and Bumrah, both caught behind. India were bowled out for 158 in just over 30 overs, leading to a massive 180-run defeat and a humiliating loss in the tournament final.

Congrats everyone I knew from day 1 that we were gonna do this heck I predicted it to. Feel so proud of Pakistan and this is something I am not going to forget for a long time!

Well played Pak .

We really got rolled over today , lost to some brilliant cricket . Congrats to Pak fans :)

Congratulation Pakistan and Pakistani fans.:salute.
Pakistan outplayed India in all department today. Great performance.

I sat through it once Pandya was run out by that selfish apology just because I needed to feel the hurt watching that final wicket fall as Pak celebrated.

It will make the next win we have over you that much sweeter.

Well played. This was an epic humbling. One for the ages.

Mind blowing performance by Pakistan. They annihilated two strongest teams in this tournament. Have never seen Pakstan dominating like this.

Congrats to all the players, PCB, and fans.

Congrats all the bros from Pakistan, well deserved victory, great performance.

Dil toot gaya yaar

You win some, you loose some, trophy stays in asia. Cheers!

Defeats at 1996 Bangalore, 2003 centurion haunted me for long, NO MORE ---- Congrats to the whole nation.

They've been brilliant ever since that first game to be honest. Definitely well deserved champions we beat all the best sides after the start.

Champions of the Champions

Stuff of legends.

Congrats to Everyone

Seems crazy how Pakistan simply just got better and better after each game. From getting dominated by India to pulling off a huge upset vs SA but still barely managing to win that game. Then they won more comprehensively vs Sri Lanka. Afterwards, it was domination of England. And lastly, they annihilated India who were a team that was firing on all cylinders in batting and bowling.

What a victory and it will be one for the history books and thoroughly remembered for a long time.

Just amazing. Against the odds. Fire in the blood. Really well done to the Pakistan team.

Proper thrashing. We have well and truly avenged our group-stage humiliation. Next stop is 2019, in shaa Allah. :akhtar

Painful but congrats to Pak fans and very good performance by PCT.

Pakistan kia baat hai. Finally I lived the day PAK beat India in a game that really matters.

This is one for the ages.

Amir you made us wait. Wait we did for 5 years... boy is a champ.

Already 2 icc trophies and goat performance vs the rival.

Enjoy this karachi, lahore, islamabad ... enjoy this pakistan!

Hahahaha i am so much happy. My 13 months old naphew was also claping.

Congrats to all Pakistanis.

Mubarak to all Pakistani posters here.

Pakistan Zindabad!

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

Mubarakan, mubarakan!

I was happy that we lost the toss. Only way we were going to bat first. And always fancied our chance if we batted first. Sport isn't all about statistics.

Great team performance. Everyone played their part. Happy with everyone.

Nobody gave us a chance, heck most Pakistan fans didn't give us a chance. Ranked #8 in the world, people fuming with the squad selection. Got hammered in the first match.

What a magnificent achievement to turn it around. Tactically we've been superb and Sarfraz and the team management deserve a lot of credit. It goes to show no matter the perceived gulf in quality - if you have a sound gameplan and execute it, you can overcome that.

The bowlers have been magnificent and Fakhar's introduction made a big difference like Razzaq's introduction into the 2009 WT20.

We've beaten three of the strongest teams in the tournament in England, South Africa and India. Take a bow lads, cherish this win. Congratulations to all Pakistan fans !

Amazing

Thought we'd get annihilated through the tournament

But we did it

Great for Pakistan cricket

Good stuff Pakistan .. Was really banking on an Indian win .. I guess putting total on the board in Crunch match really matters .. Imran Khan was right after all :p ..

Congrats to Pakistan and their fans. Outplayed, outclassed India through the game. All credit to PCT, batting was like the best if seen from them in ages, bowling is getting better and better each match.

Enjoy!

Yesss..what a performance and only one team in world can make a come back after that first game. Pakistan!!

Was a bit worried with Mandy Pandy hitting those sixes but it had to be us in Ramadan..had to be!!

Nassar botching presentation, when he said Sharyar Khan was handing out medals to india it seemed like he was handing out "L" 😢

Well played, congratulations to the Pakistani team.

Probably one of pakistans most complete odi performances ever. Well done on CT win and to beat india in final makes it even better :)

Welldone Pakistan... :)

Congratulations Pakistan team and fans.. :)

Completely outplayed us in each and every department.

Well played PCT, totally deserving champions! Kudos on an amazing comeback in the tournament & a clinical performance in the finals. As for the ICT, a bad day at the wrong time, happens, we just need to remember that we have a good core team, that is definitely better than what was on show today and move forward and aspire to higher standard than what we have set so far - we're sure seem capable of that.

INSHALLAH ! YOUR boys played Well !

:salute

Oh hard it is for you to soak it in. Do you remember conversation about pressure? Any more insight about not having pressure in the final? LOL. You need to remember that your SOORMAS may be world class but Pak Vs Ind in a final is not your "just another big game". This result will definitely bring humility in you. I am hoping for more encounter with Indian team in the future if MODI has some guts to bring it on!

Wow.... Am l dreaming?
Pakistan has won the champions trophy... what a beautiful day.
Best wishes to all members of Pakistan cricket team.

Markhor I enjoyed that Amir Khan interview and then Azhar Mahmood came along with some amazing insight! The pundits pointed out how Hasan Ali could benefit from a county contract and Azhar pointed out how Hasan has asked him to speak to someone, then the likes of Nasser joked that Azhar must know a few people having played for like 9 counties :)) Azar then pointed out that a county in England has offered Hasan a contract! brilliant news! hope Hasan can play here, would be great for his development

I congratulate every Pakpassioner who was as positive as me in this tournament. Big boohoo to the wrist slitters and the mamoos of the world. Cograts to all "Patriot" Pakistanis, not the wrist slitters without Passion.

The best ODI match I've ever watched since I grew up watching Pakistan from 2011. I'm so proud of my boys we made the impossible possible

Positive or negative. Wrist slitters are passionate too. Congratulations go to all fans.

A dream performance

The inclusion of Fakhar Zaman literally changed this team's fortunes. He really set the tone for the games with his brilliant batting upfront.

This is what impact batsmen can do. Fakhar replacing tuk tuk Shehzad was a game changer for Pakistan

Hasan Ali was consistently brilliant with the ball

Amir was brilliant today

Sarfraz led the side very well

Strange decision by Kohli to field first on a batting wicket on a sunny day in a pressure game (final) after winning the toss

And to think, two weeks ago, I was depressed over what had become of my team. I grew up watching a team that liked to eat up the Indian team for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Today, a similar style of cricket won us this tournament. A great, great win and may the young guys keep playing fearless and attacking cricket for years to come!

Well played Champs. Love to you all from an Indian. I have said before that PP Cricket forum is the best.

Simply amazing, outstanding and thoroughly deserved. Guys, go and party hard.

Eid Mubarak in advance to all Pakistanis.

Cheers,
PS: I have already lined up a lunch with a good Pakistani friend after Eid.

2019 World Cup is next. From losing to India by 147 runs to beating them in the final by 180 runs! Pakistan Zindabad

Commiserations to Indian fans

Pakistan were the better team on the day

Respect To India - they played superb throughout the tournament as you would expect of champions

Today the immovable came up against the unstoppable!!!

This is all I asked of Pak in the final, win or lose just play to your ability and they did themselves proud and us fans proud.

Tears of joy have been shed and pride has been restored - thank you team Pak!

This is the best cricket I have watched Pakistan play since I started watching cricket in '03

First 50 Overs ICC Tournament Final with India and Pakistan is the Winner

After so many defeats in ICC events I believe this is something to cheer about.

Amir U beauty...🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰

I forgive for 2010. Getting Kohli..🇵🇰

Congrats Pakistan. :sa

Though didn't Support India this time but still this loss hurts little bit.

Hats off to Pakistan, absolute thrashing of my team.
Perfect game played by probably most unlikely one.
This loss will hurt us Indians for long time to come, but absolutely no complains.
I hope that this win will make Pakistan a great team they used to be.
To all Pak fans enjoy and have a good time.
For my fellow Indian fans, our team had given us many good wins, so take it on chin.
