Pakistan FTP (August 2014 to March 2023)

hayder ali: Can you please post the months of the year when these series will be happening? (In the OP of course)

I read the FTP, but things always change. In the FTP, Asia Cup is supposed to be in May/June (after IPL), but on the Asia cup site, it says it will be happening in September of 2018.

1-January
2- May-June
3-July
4-Sep
5-October
6-Nov, Dec
7-Dec,Jan

Long gaps in pakistan schedule its not good when we are trying to rebuild our test/odi teams. Its very boring when we see other nations playing international cricket and we are sitting idle waiting for psl to happen.

Can't play every month, the players do need time off to spend time with their families.

A lot of cricket is packed into the second half of 2018.

Even this proposed summer tri-series looks in doubt due to Zimbabwe's financial woes.

1-Pakistan tour to NZ 5 ODis Jan 2018
2-Pakistan tour to Zim June 2018 3 odis, triseries is in T20s
3- Asia cup 2018 September 2018
4-Pakistan vs NZ UAE Nov 2018 5 Odis
5-Pakistan tour to RSA Jan 2019 5 Odis
6-Pakistan vs Aus UAE March 2018 5 Odis
7- Pakistan tour to Eng 3 Odis before Wc
So lots of boring stuff lined up...

15 ODIs vs RSA, AUS, & ENG right before WC. Great scheduling :afridi

Pakistan has no series between February and May?

I was going through the schedule for Pakistan and see there is nothing scheduled after the culmination of this tour. What really is the PCB doing?

Pakistan will play 5 ODIs against Australia in April before touring England for 5 ODIs.

From feb to march there is PSl and there is 5 odis against aus in uae which will i think start at the end of march

And more importantly, no test series up until Oct 2019. A gap of 10 months between the current series and next. You know what, people will forget our dismal outings against NZ and SA by then and we will have these same set of players again.

Geezer this tour ends Jan
Feb-mar is psl
Apr 5 Odis Vs aus
May 5 Odis in England
Followed by world cup.
There isn't really a proper break for our all format cricketers
It's ok to put tests on the back burner until August

PSL in Feb.Series with aus in March-April and then ODIs with England in May right before the worldcup.
Unfortunately we dont have any test series soon. The ICC test championship will start from July 2019 and i am sure that we will play the "experienced" players when our matches our scheduled as the PCB wouldnt try any new player i guess.and with such a long gap people would have likely forgotten our current performances.

The australia tour did not show up on cricinfo when I checked this morning. Had not factored in PSL. The schedule looked surprisingly sparse

You won't even be able to draw a match. 12 match losing streak will get to 15.

Draws rarely happen these days. Basically it becomes a bowling shootout between Australia and Pakistan if we play now. We know our batting line is weak, so is Australia's. Additionally, I back Babar and Azhar to come good on Aussie pitches. With Shan, Fakhar, Babar, and Azhar, I back us to win 2-1 against this pitiable Australia team.

Australian batting is still good enough for our weak bowling attack. Khawaja, Finch, Head, Handscomb etc. will score enough runs for their superior attack to win them games.

All Asian teams (minus India) + West Indies will still get blanked in Australia.

Bro...Pakistan has not even drawn a test match in Australia since 1996, let alone winning. Why you want to tour there and serve yourself for more embarrassement? :))

Just bcoz India is beating Aust left and right don't mean Pak would do the same as well. There is a huge difference in quality between no.1 and no.6 test side.

After the SA tour, it is good to take a break from tests with the WC in mind. Your schedule is perfect, plenty of rest to keep the players (esp bowlers) fresh, PSL, an ODI series in Aus followed by an ODI series against WC hosts (tournament favorites and number 1 side as well) in WC venues just before the WC. It will keep you busy till mid July. Then a couple of months rest is well deserved because by then Pak players would have been on constant run away from home for 12 months including some very stressful assignments.

PCB should use those 2 months to get the players in shape for the Australia tour. Of course there is the Sri Lanka series in between but the tour downunder is vital, Pakistan has a long losing streak there and should aim to correct it. Hopefully PCB makes it a 3 test series as Mani promised a few months back.

Khawaja, Finch lol... without their batting leaders Smith and Warner, these all are headless chickens. I assure you Pakistan won't have problems with them. It's just that our batsmen have to cope with Aussie bowlers. But after sandpaper gate I'm sure even that can be achieved now.

The fact almost every year we have huge gaps without test matches shows how pathetic PCB has been when it has come to get negotiations on schedules.

Pakistan are playing ODIs vs England in England right before the World Cup.

In addition to being CT winners just last year, you can't ask for better preparation.

Is our schedule skewed or are we actually not playing anymore ODI's after tomorrow for a whole year?

We have 3 ODIs against SL in December :ua

Well hey at least this time we'll hopefully have a new young captain who can gain confidence from some early wins. But come on do these guys not get tired of booking matches against SL over and over again. I really want to see a series with Bangladesh or even West Indies right now.

ODIs will never be the same after World Cup 2019.

All the teams will be playing 3 match ODI series' max

So what's next for Pakistan now? Pakistan, SA and Bang have clear calenders after WC. Schedule with them?

We are free till October... enough time for fans to forget the follies of the WC excellent planning PCB :salute

Pakistan caught fire but it turned out to be a little too late.

You should still be proud of the way you guys came back in the tournament. For the first time after Champions Trophy, the Pakistan team looked very good, in the last 4 games, including the one against Afghans.

Good core of players to work on, but build up on it, don't let it slip away again. Pakistan need to ge more self confident and consistent.

Upcoming ODI series for Pakistan......

When is Pakistan going to play an odi series & who are they going to play against???

Our first series will be against SL in October beginning with tests i believe.
A rest of 2 months should do good to players to refresh and regroup, and also make some key structural changes.

pakistan has total of 6 odis in next 16 months and three of them are against the Netherlands.

I have my hopes from wasim khan hopefully he arranged something .2 month gap is bit too much

When is Pakistan's next Cricketing assignment?

Sri Lanka? Netherlands?

With the 2019 World Cup over and the subsequent series' only being 3 match ODI series' will Cricket ever be the same?

Cricket will never be the same.

It's been a fun ride from August 2018 up until now.

See you for the T20 World Cup ride.

If my memory serves me right, pakistan has played 3 ODIs since the world Cup ended . . How does that compare to other teams?

And we don't seem to be playing many ODIs in the future either. Its something like 18 in the next 2 years. . How is that acceptable . . Instead playing useless t20s . .

Someone like babar is missing games in his prime . . He has played 74 games only . .

I am amazed at this scheduling. We just don't play enough cricket.

We need to play a minimum of three test series. 6 tests in the whole of 2021, that is simply too low. Atleast play 10.

We have 13 Tests until July 2022

Englnad and Australia will probably play 10 Tests between each other only by then.

And then people criticise Babar for not scoring enough runs or centuries against the top nations.

Sick of reading these 2 Test series against teams ranked above us. What is the ICC doing? Or shall we say its completely under the influence of BCCI??

Where is the 3 tests that was planned for windies next year in windies originally

@Saj

Sir, are you sure its the actual FTP of Pakistan.

If I am not wrong, we are scheduled to play 3 test & 3 T20s in West indies in July/Aug'21, soon after England tour.

Apart from that, we were scheduled to play 3 ODIs against Afghanistan in Sep'21. Is that series cancelled?.

Moreover, we couldn't play few matches due to covid19. Will they be rescheduled. Below is the list of those tours.
1 test against Bangladesh (Home)
3 ODIs against Netherland, they were scheduled in Jul'20 (away)
2 T20s against Ireland in Aug'20 (away)
3 ODIs & 3 T20s against South Africa, we were supposed to play the series in Sep/Oct'20 (away)

Yes most realible websites I visit list the 3 tests vs windies next July I for one look forward to that series as windies has improved quite a lot.

Not as bad as it seems, we have a 3 test series against the windies, 3 reschedules ODI's and T20's against SA in SA as well as a ODI series Afghanistan and not to forget the rescheduled test against Bangladesh.

Future Test Series for Pakistan for remainder of 2022

July - August 2022: Pakistan plays 2 Tests in SL

Oct - November 2022 - NZ plays 2 Test in Pakistan

Nov - December 2022 - England plays 3 Tests in Pakistan

SL Series should be time for Pakistan to test its bowling and batting bench strength

2022 looks like it will be Pakistan's best year in terms of playing against the TOP teams in Test cricket when in the past few years they were relegated to playing mostly Zimbabwe, WI, Bangladesh

I think this means 2022 will provide Pakistan Cricket enough experience to see the future of Pakistan cricket especially test cricket because they will be playing tough cricket not just cricket where they are easily expected to win

^^ Thankfully a good itinerary for 2022 hopefully the Test team will improve but the big worry is the lack of quality spinners

PCB spokesman regarding tour of Sri Lanka:

"We have a very strong relationship with the Sri Lankan Board, the two countries have always supported each other in difficult situations"

"In the past, tours have been held in a tense situation, Pakistan did not refuse to play there despite difficult conditions, Sri Lanka also toured Pakistan"

"SLC, viewing its circumstances, would take a decision which will be accepted, including playing on their grounds or neutral venue," he concluded.
