Is the legside line being used by Asad Shafiq (and Pakistan) against the spirit and laws of the game?

Sky Comms mentioning that - wonder when the umps will get involved in this.

Seems umpires have had a word with Asad on this.

Its not negative tactics. Shafiq is a non regular bowler and is simply trying to bowl flat and quick. Their is nothing much more to his bowling.

If it is legal, I see no issue.

I support spirit of cricket but this should be a non-issue.

I don’t think so. It got them a wicket so seems like a successful tactic. Umpires should have no business to Interfere other than Probably calling wides more strictly.

But there are laws of the game which we cannot defy.

These 'spirit of the game' discussions are by far the worst thing about cricket

Lets just have the exhausted bowling line-up serve up pies to Butler so England can get to 600 asap. If we're lucky, maybe one of the fast bowlers will get injured on their way to 40 overs apiece

Bro if England are accusing him of negative bowling them shame on them (not surprisingly) and especially with Nasser Hussein sitting in there who instructed Ashley Giles to bowl outside leg stump to Sachin for the entire two sessions way back in 2002 I guess. Eventually Sachin had to step out resulting in his first and only stump out ever in tests.

Such sheer hypocrisy if English are crying over it and with Nassser sitting there.

What are these laws MIG ? I’m not aware.

Law 25.1 - Judging a Wide - states: "For bowlers whom umpires consider to be bowling down the leg side as a negative tactic, the strict limited-over wide interpretation shall be applied."

Nasser hussain talking about negative tactics. Sometimes i really wonder why he's held in such high esteem. Its exactly what he did when he captained Giles.
