An Indian BSF trooper fell down a valley on the Indian side of the border and was swept by the river towards Pakistan. After a request by India the Pakistan Rangers undertook a search operation, recovered the body and handed it over to India today.

Nice to see this (given the current tensions).

Chaddi brigade India would have never done the same if it was a Pakistani soldier. Great that Pakistan is acting in a humane way.

If PK soldier had died in the same manner, his body would have been paraded as someone that infiltrated the border and had been chased into the river before he drowned. Anyways any loss of life is tragic for the families concerned.

Humane thing to do.

Watch this get zero coverage in India, this is not what their rabid, war mongering leechar public wants to read or see.

Good gesture. This is not about the RSS government in India but one set of soldiers understanding this person has a family who will find some sort of peace if the body is found and taken to them for their goodbyes.

Who are you kidding. During the Kargil misadventure, Pervez Musharraf refused to accept the bodies of those soldiers claiming them to be non-Pakistani fighters even when presented with their Army ID's. Eventually, under pressure from the relatives of those who were killed, he accepted them back for a burial. The unclaimed bodies were accorded a traditional Muslim burial.

There are numerous instances where the bodies of Pakistan soldiers have not only been returned but also buried when they were refused acceptance

Another case that comes to mind is that of Saurabh Kalia whose body was mutilated by the Pak Rangers.

Whenever Inds ever claim anything its likely to be lie. We saw that before and after Pulwama.

I don't drink the kool-aid that our Govt & army feeds us and am capable of independent thinking. BTW It doesn't make me less patriotic. Religion and politics have been used for ages to separate and herd populations, no biggie

A person died a tragic death and left his family behind to mourn for the rest of their lives and all people can do is compare the notes as to how the other side would have dealt with the situation. Extremely sad.

This is pretty normal and how it’s internationally done.

Just couple of months back india handed over a child from pok who had been swept to Indian side.

Talk about lost lives and their grieving families. If possible offer help . That goes a long way in helping them than brownie point discussion.

RIP. May Krishna grant peace to his family.

Good on Pakistan. India would have done the same too. Despite the the shrill theatrics we see in the media, India and Pakistan have almost always been good at sticking to normal SOPs for events like these, even in tense situations.

Thanks to Pakistan for leading by example once again.

Don't think Modi would have allowed this if it was a Pakistani soldier.

Captain Saurabh Kalia who was captured by Pakistan during the Kargil War. That’s all I have to say.

Does the past record of Pakistan being a cricket team also implies that we are a better cricketing team than India currently?

No, but the assumption without a match being played and then judging is equivalent to the same.

You are no angels ether. You cut of the tongue of a Pak soldier who was captured and kept him in prison for many years releasing him as an old man. A humane gesture here by Pak by returning the remains of one of your soldiers. Thing is that your government will now say how Pak returned the soldier out of fear trying to win point again over the death of one of their own.
