I am sure it will be even more embarrassing if you take the record of last 20 years only.

Australia have had better players for years. Also they are mentally stronger and much more consistent. No surprise here.

To further add our records against other white countries is similar in this same percentage. Australia, England, South Africa. Looks like they own us!

Most of this must be since 1998. I think another factor is that most Pak Aust games take place in Australia where we have even bigger problems. That said we have lost to them in the UAE as well.

Its a sign that these countries have now moved on to much higher standards while we are still stuck in the 90's and early 2000's.

I think, sometimes at around 2002 that H2H in ODI stood around 16-16 or max 1-2 games more in favour of Aussies, and must say most of those games were played in Australia with their umpires. In Test cricket before that 1999 series the record was AUS 14, PAK 11... and after 1982/83 3-0, it was probably 9-8 or 8-8 ... may be 1-2 games I am missing.

Since then, in ODI, it’s 4 wins for PAK - 2005 WSC, 2011 WC, 2012 UAE series, 2016 series & a tie in 2009 CT. For Australia, there are some heavy numbers - 5-0, 5-0, 4-1, 3-0 ... can’t count Aussie wins without calculator. In Test, after that drawn Test at Karachi, it’s Aussies 16 including 12-0 clean sweep at home and PAK 4, with 1 draw.

This is the ultimate summery of what English County had given to PAK cricket. Now, let’s revert back to ultimate humiliation of BD when AUS declined to host them - shall we?

Your point being?

I don't take ODI/T20 H2Hs that seriously, only ICC trophies matter in these formats and Pakistan has done well there. They have as many ICC trophies in the last 10-11 years as Australia even though Australia has the grand prize (50 over WC). Of course no team can come close to the domination Australia showed in the 90s and 2000s where they won so many big tournaments. Forget Pakistan, no team can be compared to Australia all things considered.

Tests are the real problem especially in Australia. Since the 1999 tour Pakistan hasn't managed a single draw in a test match and that is a disgraceful record. That stat warrants embarrassment, not silly JAMODI results.

Why don't you clarify?

Quite easy - till late 1990s, top PAK players were developed by English counties, so they had the skills, diversity to play on different surface, adopt on different conditions and obviously had much, much better game sense - a combination that kept them fighting at per with the best across different venues. So, in short - overall quality of the players were far better and they were more confident under pressure, handled crunch situations better, could compete eye ball to eye ball. 33 years back a guy hit a last ball six against arch rival, while now 2 centuries in a loss of chasing below per total by at least 23 runs!!!!! Counties have stopped picking PAK (foreign) players, therefore that window is closed - so next possible way is to develop own system and keep the standard up or there’ll be a definite decline in production line - that H2H result is the reflection of it. On top of that, instead of competing on field, PAK players are almost submissive against top cricket stars, as if they are privileged to be in same field, which wasn’t the case in past.

My point was, this imbalance of H2H wasn’t parallel across the path, rather it’s the aftermath of a certain change in system (1998? when PCA forced Counties to stop hiring almost unlimited foreigners and play 4 in game XI). So, there is absolutely no surprise in the gap and going forward unless the on going system changes, it should widen or remain consistent (obviously you can understand that I am not a fan of natural talunt finds). Australia is brutally dominant, but I think “comparative” numbers are similar against most other teams as well, barring WIN which has gone to same path and temporarily SAF/SRL, who are also in terminal decline for different reasons - not to mention ZIM for obvious reasons. Check the comparative H2H with ENG, NZ, IND, BD - you’ll see similar trends.

Regarding cancelled BD tour of AUS - you can take it as a footnote for few posters here - don’t throw stones living on a glass house ... that too the glass house being built on quick sand. Those numbers in my first post tells that Ian Chappell was quite polite actually for his standards.

Pakistan's record in Australia has been poor even when we had the stars of the 80's and 90's. We don't help our cause by touring there after 5-6 years and also touring without preparation whatsoever.

It was around the same head to head by 99. By 2002 OZ had gone quite a bit ahead.

May be, that 3-0 in 1998 shifted the balance to Aussies. I could recall the last hurrah only 2-1 in AUS in 2002, against that team, their only home loss in decade a.

Pakistan's best performance against Australia came during Imran Khan's Era.
Poor record outside of it.

This is for tests. i think this thread is primarily about the ODI record in recent times.

Regarding ODI till 1997 Pakistan had nearly par record against Australia. But there was steep decline after that.

This is actually untrue. In PAK/UAE in the last 20 years, the head to head is 16:3 in favour of Australia.

I'm surprised we managed to win 34% matches overall. Thought it might be around 25% in ODIs. Guess pre 2000 games still boosting the stats

The Aussie dominance started with the super Australia team of 1998 onwards. They inflicted a lot of pain on us from 1998 to this day

Wow!!

Since 1998, Australia's absolutely steamrolled Pakistan.

Barring exceptions vs India in Test and South Africa in ODI's , Australia has exception record against all teams.

New Zealand have far worse test record than Pakistan vs Australia.

those some horrible numbers.

amazing how well india has done in Tests.

Aussies play on a different level to us. Pak is nothing in front of them, nothing!
