Mr. Sharif’s outburst came a day after the Lahore High Court banned broadcast of “anti-judiciary” remarks by him and his party men.

Pakistan may face another “dismemberment” like the one it witnessed in 1971 if the people’s mandate is not respected, ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif warned on Friday as he took a dig at the Supreme Court for disqualifying him.

Mr. Sharif’s outburst came a day after the Lahore High Court banned broadcast of “anti-judiciary” remarks by him and his party men. He also targeted the country’s intelligence agencies for being part of the Panama Papers investigation against him and his family members’ offshore holdings.

“This is the first time in the country’s history that representatives of intelligence agencies — Inter Service Intelligence and Military Intelligence — were made part of the Joint Investigation Agency (JIT) to investigate the case which is not related to terrorism and national security,” he said.

Speaking at a lawyers’ convention here, Mr. Sharif said the Supreme Court’s July 28 decision to disqualify him has not been accepted by the masses. “This decision will be remembered as ‘unjust verdict’ in the country’s history,” he said.

During the country’s 70-year history, all 18 Prime Ministers were sent home without completing their terms, he said. “This has to be stopped now and we must ensure respect of the ballot. If the people’s vote is not respected, I fear that Pakistan may face an eventuality like that of 1971 when it was divided into two,” he said, adding that Pakistan cannot move forward without fixing this problem.

Mr. Sharif was referring to the creation of Bangladesh in 1971 following the Liberation War against Pakistan.

“Although I have stepped down after the verdict but I have not accepted it nor the people of Pakistan. My mission is to shut down the means through which democracies are derailed and elected leaders are sent home,” he said.

Family challenges order

Meanwhile, Mr. Sharif’s family challenged the Supreme Court’s verdict.

His sons Hussain and Hassan, daughter Maryam and son-in-law Capt. (retd) Muhammad Safdar filed a review petition in the Supreme Court through advocate Salman Akram Raja.

The petitioners challenged the probe by the six-member JIT which was tasked by the Supreme Court to probe the Panama Papers scandal.

Petitioners also objected to the decision by the Supreme Court that one its judges would supervise the proceedings of the National Accountability Bureau.

Mr. Sharif has already challenged the verdict through his counsel Khawaja Haris, who filed three review petitions against the court’s ruling

What he means that he is an Indian agent. That if he is not re-elected as PM would do whatever it takes to break Pakistan. 1971 is history, times are totally different now. Nawaz wants to break Pakistan then form a united Punjab where he will sit on a throne like a king. Keep dreaming! People have more then accepted his sacking with only a few hundred turning out for his recent protests:misbah.

GT road rally totally exposed Nawaz and his plans...

If he has any supporters now they should be ashamed of themselves. The guy is a national security risk, like you said Syed1 :))

Signs of Desperation. The only thing that might happen is that his entire business empire as well as his party might get dismembered

Punjabis would burn him alive if he wants something like a severed Punjab. He is just desperate and trying to take sympathy votes and using ill defined threats to gain them. People may be emotional but not stupid. Especially the army would ever allow any such ill advised political approach. They will take him out long before something like this gains momentum

Common tactic by politicians - to be the prophets of doom if it is revealed that they aren't the ones in power to save us all.

Goodness!this is bizarre.ironically he himself is the product of worst military regime that pakistan has ever had.pak military is equally responsible for propping such goons in the first place..

What do you expect from a loser who claims that he had plans to make Pakistan an Asian tiger but couldn't implement in 4 years and even now his party is still ruling the country but he won't do anything only because HE is not in power himself, it is ALL ABOUT HIM!!

For those who follow Pakistani politics, How different is this statement to the kind of stuff Altaf Hussain used to say?

So many cracks opening up in pakistan, karachites calling for independence, nawaz sharif threatening another 1971, and there is always the great altaf bhai :srt

Punjab will never separate from Pakistan

It will have no future without it

You are right with the first statement but why wouldn't it survive as an independent Nation? Due to being landlocked? Threat of being taken over by India?

I don't think that only countries with a coastline can survive.

It won't be able to sustain itself. It has a huge population so most of the agricultural production will be for internal use.

No port would mean that it will have exorbitant costs to fulfil many basic necessities which currently it gets at minimal cost through Karachi. Obv if it's an independent country there will be a huge cost to that and most likely relations wouldn't be good with Sindh so it will always have this issue of being dependant on others.

Finally. Since it will have no clout of its own it will have to be a client state of India for it to survive and not be in a constant tthreat of destruction

Pakistan was the best thing that happened to Punjab. Prior to that it was a plaything for many empires east and west of it for most of modern history (besides Sikh empire)

It is not; both are traitors and people who support such people need a reality check. They are more loyal to traitors then their country.

Don't know why but that made me go .... :))) :)))

Waiting for likes of Stewie Eagle_Eye and many departed posters to condemn Nawaz Sharif and the ethnicity that supports him in the same way and enthusiasm with which they condemn Karachiites and mqm

No bro we are busy giving "Altafi threats" meanwhile their favorite Punjabi politician is clamoring for the solidarity and unity of Pakistan.

Both are equally as bad; we should stand united as Pakistanis and condemn all scums who bark against our motherland. NS doesn't represent me as a Punjabi and am sure Altaf doesn't represent you as an Urdu speaker. We are better then these traitors.

I am Punjabi and hate NS and Altaf. Comdem both these vile creatures.

Hope more people can rise out of slave mentality

Yes but we need to overcome personal backgrounds and think as Pakistanis. These political parties want to divide us for their own evil agendas. Nawaz and Altaf are exposed; they will do anything for power.

But an ordinary punjabi does not support Nawaz sharif the same way as Altaf hussain is revered by most urdu-speaking karachiites. They refer to him as Altaf bhai and have slogans like "Jo Quaid Ka Ghaddar Hai, Woh Maut Ka Haqdar Hai".

its semantics

both are die hard supporters

as if calling someone 'Sher' is not reverence :))

esp when you look at the 'shakal' and 'huliya' of this so called Sher

Yeah ordinary Punjabi doesn't support Nawaz that is why he has 180 odd seats in the parliament and an overwhelming majority of them from Punjab.

:salute

There was a lot of rigging in Punjab by PMlN. They control Punjab like mafia; example: Hamza Sharif controls the meat market and most meat is provided by his company. He sets the prices.

Ok, NS managed to jump up Modi and Trump on my list of most hated politicians.

He must be punished publicly. In Lahore's main square.

I know there was rigging and alot of Punjabis hate this guy from the core of their heart like alot of Urdu speakers hate Altaf. I was just dispelling the notion of the poster that I quoted who was off the opinion that all Urdu speakers revere Altaf meanwhile Nawaz has only fledgling support in Punjab which is simply not true. Despite the rigging Nawaz has vast number of people supporting him.

Now Sharif is an Indian agent? The conspiracies here :misbah

Done it already.... Last throws of a man whose world is falling apart.

Equating foreign funded mafia party with the blood of tens of thousands on its hands to NS is a non starter. You don't have gangs of NS killers roaming around every street in Lahore collecting money and threatening people.

It's how first past the post system works.... what's the vote share of pmln in Punjab compared to MQM in Karachi in contested seats.

At the moment MQM seems like the lesser evil compared to your beloved Punjabi Sharif.

I think all the provinces would have struggled , not only Punjab. One thing is for sure, the money punjabis living abroad has, if it was distributed properly to the needy in Punjab and in other parts of Pakistan you wouldn't have many poor people there then.

You don't?

Ask that to the people killed in model town in broad daylight a few years ago? Or the kid and old man killed by Nawaz's motorcade a couple of weeks earlier. I can keep on listing if you want

Not an mqm supporter and I accept that they are thugs but don't whitewash Nawaz sharif and his crimes. Nawaz and his cronies have certainly caused more harm to the country than a party restricted to one city

Quite disappointing to read some of the stuff on this thread, quite a few of us STRONGLY criticise Nawaz and others without thinking about ethnic background.

Nawaz Sharif is a GREEDY self centred and incompetent fool who did not steal from the nation to spend on Punjab or Punjabis but it is ALL ABOUT HIM. Altaf Hussain did not sell himself for Muhajirs as time proved, it was ALL ABOUT HIM and Zardari isn't doing it for Sindh or Sindhis either.

Why are we discussing ethnic backgrounds when voter stupidity is common across the country??

I agree; it's distressing seeing people backing Altaf and Nawaz. Well, they have a soft corner for them both due to ethnicity. We should condemn them both as Pakistanis.

I am Punjabi but hate Nawaz. Funny thing is that Nawaz is not even ethnically a Punjabi so it's a weird situation.
