The 2 glaring weaknesses of Pakistan were:
  1. In batting, the openers (Babar & Rizwan) were slow and could not take advantage of power play overs to give Pakistan flying start.
  2. In bowling, there was only 1 opening bowler (Shaheen) who was a wicket taker.

These 2 weakness could have been removed if Pakistan had selected Sharjeel and Amir in the team:
  1. In batting, open with Sharjeel and Fakhar who both are aggressive and would have taken advantage of power play overs to give Pakistan flying start.
  2. In bowling, open with Shaheen and Amir who both are wicket takers

Those 2 changes would have made Pakistan favourite to win the WC. Alas Pakistan waste a golden opportunity.

No, we did not.

Amir is a wasted bowler.

Sharjeel is too unfit and has had enough opportunities already.

Our squad was perfect for the WC. No point looking at has-beens.

Hindsight is a great thing. We also missed Wasim Akram too.

This will never happen as long as Babar is captain. The guy only cares about doing what is best for him with the bat. Why doesn’t he open the batting in Tests for Pakistan? Our openers are so poor in Tests, why doesn’t this guy and Rizwan do us all a big favour and open in Tests as well?

missed amir, but not the leg side slogger sharjeel- people keep forgetting his international record is poor for a reason - even in the uae, hes a leg side slogger and thats it

Come on, I know Rizwan blanked you when asking for his wicket keeping gloves and that grudge is strong but name one wicket keeper who opens in test matches on a regular basis? Your hate of Rizwan is bordering requiring therapy.

unhealthy. No wicket keeper or opener is as good as Rizwan apart from Babar

Aamir is an ordinary trundler and was getting smashed in a Lankan local league. I think one of Dhani/Hasnain should certainly have played ahead of Hasan.

Against good bowling sides, at best you will get 50 runs in the last 5 overs, you won't concede 70-80-100 runs in the last 5-7 overs. Therefore you must make the most of the first 6 overs like Warner and Marsh did today.

Amir was only needed if you needed another spinner.

Who are you to make sense?

This is team Pakistan. Apna style hi alag hai! We could care less if we make 36 in the first 6 because apparently we’ve got it all covered with Malik, Hafeez and Asif to come at the latter end and take us to 190 every time.

They only scored 4 more than us in pp.

Pakistan needs Mohammad Amir to win an ICC event.

Its the sad fact. We are lacking pacers who have the mental fortitude to not crap the bed when the going gets tough.

Hes proven time and time again that he can perform in high pressure situations, proved it against India and the world countless times in the 3 T20 world cups he's been in as well as the 2 champions trophy tourneys.

Yes he won't take a lot of wickets after the power play but he will be extremely economical which is just as important as wickets in LOI. Can also stabilize the innings with the bat if needed.

Imagine Shaheen and Amir both bowling at express 90 MPH pace at tandem in the bouncy wickets of Australia, we could avenge our defeat and have the last laugh.

Amir can hardly touch 85 MPH but like you said IMAGINE

That doesn't matter anyways, check his economy rates, 4.7 in ODI and 7 in T20i, other teams would kill for a bowler of his standing. Those are killers numbers in this era.

I was thinking about this earlier, how nice it would have been to see afridi and amir bowling side by side. Would have given us a better chance, because I was honestly counting how much shaheen was left to bowl as that was the game. Needed something special from amir in a knockout match, where he has previously delivered. Haris and Hassan were not looking threatening at all, It was scary to watch I was just expecting the ball going to the boundary.

No one wanted Amir back in the team more than I did. But, sadly he’s not interested in playing for Pakistan now. Looks like he’s happy playing in franchise leagues. He’s his own boss and can’t be told what to do.

We made one error, which was picking Hassan Ali even though he was out of form. Mohammad Wasim would’ve been a game changer.

In UAE we needed another frontline spinner like Raza to strangle in the innings before the last few overs Amirs 75mph pies would’ve been launched into the roads outside the ground towards the end of this game.

Whats next we need Ahmed Shehzad to win an ICC trophy :)))
What about Azhar Ali - missed him big time today. Would've been champions trophy if we had him.

What were Raza’s stats in National t20 ?

Amir is far past it. Stoinos and Wade would have feasted off his bowling.

Done with Amir. Too late now and no way Rameez will let him come that's why he hasn't taken back reretirement.
However. I am quite sure even Wahab, Dahani or an extra spent attack with Nawaz could have done better than Hasan Ali. There was no use of Wasim in 15. They should have kept Dahani or Wahab In 15.

The missing link was hassan bowling and should have been replaced way before this match. He was a captain's pick hence he stayed in the side!

100% but let’s also replace Babar with Salman Butt, bring Nasir Jamshed in place of Hafeez and Mohammed Asif in for Rauf.

An XI of match fixers would do quiet nicely

Lol is this a joke thread? Amir picked 1 wicket in all PSL UAE leg combined. Got dropped in the Hundred where he was much worse

Remind me how many did Aus score in the PP and how many did we?
