A friends has asked for help in using the NADRA online system to obtain new NICOP ID cards.

The system has very strict requirements as to the size, style, background, lighting, pose etc. for the photo that needs to be attached/uploaded to the online system.

One of the key requirements is that the attached/uploaded photo must be in the form of a jpeg file that has not been altered in any way whatsoever using photoshop or similar software.
However, it also confusingly states that it must be 45mm x 35mm in size, and must not have been 'cut down from a larger photo'.

Question:
Presumably, the 45mm x 35mm size requirements cannot surely be applicable to the digitally uploaded photo since you are not allowed to crop it as that would fall foul of the requirement regarding using software to alter the photo?

Unless one of you budding photographers can advise how to take 45mm x 35mm passport photo's with a half-decent SLR camera without the need to crop it to that exact size in any way whatsoever?

If anyone with contacts with individuals involved with NADRA could perhaps get some clarification?

Thanks.

You have to go to a professional Photoshop a and get him to send it to your e- mail adress and to have a Black or blue shirt on. Dark colours. NOT White or Pick shirt. Sadly it is NOT that easy, But thats how I Got it done

Sounds as if it would be easier for him to go the NADRA offices in person!

Question directed a budding photographers.
Does the professional photo shop use specific type of lens and/or filters? My friend lives in a small out-of-the-way town and the only professional photo shop there charges an arm and a leg!

I uploaded a passport pic that I had done in a studio and went in without a whimper.

Was it an actual passport photo that you scanned? At 600 dpi? Or was it a digital copy provided to you by the studio that was already in jpeg format? If the former, would a photo taken in one of those passport photo booths found in post offices, railway stations and supermarkets suffice?

it was a digital copy by studio. The dimensions of the JPG were 440x576 px

The bigger issue with this comes later when it converts some of the English info to Urdu - jumbles it up :(

Thanks. That's the main problem my friend has. He needs to upload photos for five of his family members (wife plus four teenage children), and the studio has quoted him a ridiculous amount for doing so.

Alternatively, if he was to make appointments at the Pakistan Consulate via the online system, he could just take the photos from a standard photo booth. Or is it the case that the Consulate will take the photo themselves with their own camera?

^^ The only high stree professional photography studio in his small town has quoted him £25 for each person. £125 in total. And even then, the photographer is going to use software to crop the photo to the correct size before giving him the jpg file. Something he can do himself if he took the photo with his SLR camera!

Not sure about how its done in the UK but in the part of the middle-east I am in, I avoid any contact with the local embassy for mental stability reasons.

Which is why I was so happy with the online system

Except that its jumbled up Urdu version of my personal details

I just got a passport photo (ask for one against a white background) from the post office for like £3.50, scanned it and sent that through, went through no issues. That doesn't need to be scanned 600dpi.

I know a few people who just uploaded decent photos from their mobile phone, just Google how to turn it into a passport photo.

OK, I'll tell him to try that. As long as if the photo is unacceptable they simply email asking him to upload a better one, without charging additional fees for doing so. He has a decent SLR camera (Nikon D5300), so hopefully that should be good enough.
Thanks.

I'll tell him to try with one persons application first!

Lol brother, this is Pakistan we're talking about. For my grandmother, I just took a picture of an extra passport photo we had lying around and uploaded it. If there's any issue with the photo, the website will tell you when trying to upload.

Yup, super annoying. But easier option is to just print it out, make the corrections by hand and then scan back in.

Government abolishes NICOP for expats to visit Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has decided to abolish the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) for facilitating the Pakistani expatriates at maximum level, said spokesperson of Ministry of Overseas Pakistani (MOP) here Tuesday.

The decision was taken after the recommendation of Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari.

He said that the decision had been approved by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan.

"Now overseas Pakistani can travel to Pakistan without visa", he added.

I did this one. At first it was annoying though I managed to play around and get it right via MS paint. In paint you have the option to"resize" or something like that. I took a regular password size photo scanned it and then resized it in a way that the eyes are roughly in the area as marked in their layout. It wasn't too difficult.

I guess with digital manipulation they mean not adding effects to the picture and "beautifying" it.

NICOP card online application - advice needed

Has anyone UK based used the online Nadra website for application or renewal of NICOP cards ? just curious as to how simple the process is and how long does it take for NICOP card to be issued , and there's one other website that I have come across (https://nadracardcentre.co.uk/) that claims to do NICOP card applications within 5-7 days but then states it is not affiliated in any way to Nadra or Pak govt - anyone had any experience of using this site and are they trustworthy ? Trustpilot reviews look pretty good.

This looks like some third party website, I wouldn't trust it with my data however official nadra website is https://id.nadra.gov.pk/ and I have used it several times to renew ID cards for our family members. The process is fairly simple, a lot easier than going to the embassy however you may need someone that's Urdu literate as you have to type some info in Urdu. You'll also need an ink pad for biometric part of the application. The process is fairly simple as long as you provide them with all the information on the form: your parents details, spouse and kid's details etc. If you miss out on anything or if there's any issue with your application they'll email you and you can send any missing information through email or upload it via the website. Once successful your card gets delivered to you via DHL to your door. Simples.

Oh btw when you view the official website you get a warning stating:

Attention!

Beware of Identity Theft!

PLEASE NOTE: Online Applications for Pakistan’s Identity Documents can ONLY be submitted at https://id.nadra.gov.pk/ – We Do NOT have any COLLABORATION with any other organization or website – Beware that Government of Pakistan does not take responsibility of any misuse of provided data or any loss of payment made on any other website.

So definitely don't go with the website you shared, I'd delete that link from here incase other people started using it.

can someone suggest something. I have been trying to renew my nicop but the online application is giving me trouble. it wont let me upload the fingerprints I have tried many times but no luck.

I renewed my POC and also applied for my 3 kids in April. I selected delivery type «Executive» where they promise that the card will be received in 7 working days, and I was shocked when I received the cards only 5 days after submitting the 4 applications. Yes, it was expensive but I never thought it could go that fast to Norway.

You have to convert to form to 600dpi If my memory serves me well.

You can use any conversion tool online to do that.

Thanks

Going to renew NICOP next year so lets see how things would change. For sure when I went to do that during PML-N times, the experience was horrible, and they had 80s style system there where you need print outs for everything. Lets see how this one is.

Online Nadra Nicop renewal issue

Can anyone please help me?

First of all this whole thing has given me a complete headache. I don’t think the website is the best. Uploading a picture is a complete hassle and I don’t understand why they ask for payment before you can start filling in the application. Thats a first for me.

Anyway I am completely stuck on a certain part of the application. So in the address part it asks you for your foreign address and your Pakistani address. For the Pakistani address it asks you for the district and the tehsil etc and that’s all fine but then it asks you for city/village and gives you all these weird options like “Lahore- circle number 1- begum kot” or “Lahore-circle number 1- Gunj Kalan”. There are many options with different circle numbers and names and I have no idea which one to choose. The address I am trying to put in is in Johar town. Even my relatives in pak don’t have any idea about this. I have been trying to cal the nadra office the whole day but no one is answering. Can someone please help?

I don’t think it really matters. If I recall I just picked any one of them to advance the process.

NADRA launches handy mobile app ‘Rahbar’
People can find about nearest centre, other facilities with a few clicks

ISLAMABAD:
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on Wednesday launched a handy mobile app ‘Rahbar’ which would facilitate every citizen to find the nearest NADRA Service Centre and much more through simple clicks.

NADRA Chairman Tariq Malik, while announcing the citizen-centric mobile app, said that citizen’s residing inside Pakistan were unable to know the location of a NADRA centre that best suited their vicinity.

“With the Rahbar app, the citizens can now make a well-informed decision about visiting any NADRA centre, keeping in view the location, distance, number of applicants-in-waiting, and average processing time through their mobile phones,” he said.

He added such initiatives towards digital Pakistan aimed at converting NADRA offices to citizen service centres, rather than only the registration centres.

“Rahbar Mobile App will ensure convenience and auto-facilitation for a common citizen along with cementing the direct partnership between NADRA services and the society as a whole,” Malik said.

“From now onwards, NADRA’s service will be seen from the public eye, which will hold the authority accountable and transparent before the people of Pakistan.”

The app would display the offices in a list view as well as on a map. The map would also show the location of nearby Mobile Registration Van along with the registration office, making it convenient for users to navigate towards any NADRA centre with ease.

The app also comprises filters to sort the centres, including female-only centres, 24/7 NADRA centres and regular and executive NADRA centres.

The app has an auto-refresh feature that would operate after every three minutes to update the data. Moreover, it has its own search engine that enables the search of all NADRA’s offices through city, name, or location.

To facilitate the Pakistani people, this app has been specially designed in both Urdu and English. This navigational mobile app showcases NADRA’s technical capabilities and citizen-centric approach.

Rahbar Mobile App can be downloaded from Google Play Store (Android) and Apple Store (iOS) which can easily be accessed from all over Pakistan.

NADRA INITIATES ‘PAK ID MOBILE APP’ IDENTITY SERVICES

National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) has initiated the ‘Pak ID Mobile App’, bringing Identity services to the mobile screens of the citizens.

Citizens can now process applications for their identity cards and documents by using the app. After completing the process through the app, the applicant could get their ID documents delivered at their doorstep, said a press release on Thursday.

With the ‘Pak ID mobile app’, citizens can now apply for CNIC, and Family Registration Certificates without visiting NADRA offices, avoiding long queues and waiting times.

Chairman NADRA Tariq Malik said the latest version of the App has a built-in document recognition system and contactless biometric verification which allow users to enjoy a wholesome experience through a complete range of ID issuance services including uploading and submitting documents, capturing photographs and fingerprints, and adding digital signatures using the smartphones.

“This innovative approach is a significant step towards achieving the goal of Digital Pakistan by improving service delivery”,” said Tariq Malik.

He said the Mobile App promises to bring maximum convenience to all citizens living within the country and beyond geographical boundaries.

Tariq Malik said that the App is built using ‘Contactless Technology’ which truly digitalizes the experience of getting desired documents.
