Here is a list of the 31 players shortlisted and the ones highlighted in GREEN are the 16 players selected to go to WI.

1. Openers -
With Azhar Ali gone, perhaps it would be a good idea to open try opening with
Zaman & Shahzad.

On the other hand, Kamran Akmal can also open.

2. Middle Order
This has been our problem in last few years since the departure of Inzi and Yousaf.

Babar is our hope. But Malik, Hafeez, Sarfaraz and Asif Zakir don't really make it a "young" middle order.

I don't have much hopes from Hafeez but may be Asif could be a good pick given his consistent List A performance - 9 100s in 69 games with an avg of close to 45.

3. All-rounder (Fast/Med Pace)

Since Razzaq's departure our cupboard is empty.

Fahim Ashraf may be a good pick but time will tell how he fares in the international circuit.
He has an impressive bowling record and was the highest wicket taker in the 2016-17 departmental one-day cup

Not sure how much can we rely on Amir and Hassan Ali to do with the bat.

4. All-rounder (spinners)

This is where we have shown some real talent and great competition between Imad, Shadab and Nawaz.

high hopes from these two.

5. Fast Bowlers (Left Arm)

Wahab & Junaid have been picked. I would have given chance to either Usman or Rumman instead of Junaid. We all saw how different Junaid has become in the PSL compared to the Junaid of 2012-2014.

6. Fast Bowler (Right Arm)

It is truly injustice to Sohail Khan for being dropped form both T20 and ODI squad given he was the highest wicket taker in PSL.

Was he not fit? Have to ask that question to Inzi / Mickey / Sarfaraz.

7. Spinners

Asghar has been picked over Yasir. I feel both are deserving but it is great to see some tight competition in the spinning department.

My ODI XI:

1. Shahzad
2. Zaman
3. Babar
4. Kamran
5. Malik / Zakir
6. Sarfaraz
7. Shadab
8. Imad Wasim
9. Amir
10. Hassan Ali
11. Asghar

Depending on the track, could replace one of the spinners with Fahim Ashraf (I think he is a med-pacer).

Sarfraz at 6 is a waste , that's the biggest issue with this team, they have loaded it with top order players

We are forgetting that Sarfraz is not just a player right now in the team, he is captain. He might change the whole batting line up. Who knows he might come as an opener. He might not even select Kamran or ask team management not to include him.

It's just that he is not looking like a yes man like Azhar was.

I rate Nawaz lowly than duo of Imad and Shadab. while he successfully defended 1 run in three balls in PSL, he has not impressed at international stage. Imad Wasim has been phenomenal with his spin bowling but we need a big hitter who can hit from big sixes down the order , Imad is not suitable to bat lower order, unless he improve his six hitting ability considerably.
I saw Shadab hiting some good sixes PSL, excited for him to perform well against WI.
Sarfraz must bat at no.4 and Kamran must open, rest can bat around them.

My ODI line-up would be.

Shehzad.
Zaman.
Babar.
Sarfaraz.
Malik.
Zakir.
Shadab.
Imad.
Fahim.
Amir.
Hassan.

Imagine shehzad, kamran, hafeez in the top3 facing Shannon, Alzarri joseph and miguel cummins...their captain holder is a joke...

If WI bowl Shannon, Alzarri and Miguel in the first 15 overs... pakistan will be 50/5 .... Easy way to beat pak...This top order of shehzad, kamran, hafeez, malik and then sarfraz is very weak except babar who will make a 30-40 regulation inns and get out...

I expect more low scoring matches this time as both the teams have very weak batting lineup and strong bowling lineups...

Picking Hafeex will make the lineup disbalanced .

Need to giver new players full series to arrive at any conclusions , need to try different combinations before Champions trophy.
