Here is a list of the 31 players shortlisted and the ones highlighted in GREEN are the 16 players selected to go to WI.
1. Openers -
With Azhar Ali gone, perhaps it would be a good idea to open try opening with
Zaman & Shahzad.
On the other hand, Kamran Akmal can also open.
2. Middle Order
This has been our problem in last few years since the departure of Inzi and Yousaf.
Babar is our hope. But Malik, Hafeez, Sarfaraz and Asif Zakir don't really make it a "young" middle order.
I don't have much hopes from Hafeez but may be Asif could be a good pick given his consistent List A performance - 9 100s in 69 games with an avg of close to 45.
3. All-rounder (Fast/Med Pace)
Since Razzaq's departure our cupboard is empty.
Fahim Ashraf may be a good pick but time will tell how he fares in the international circuit.
He has an impressive bowling record and was the highest wicket taker in the 2016-17 departmental one-day cup
Not sure how much can we rely on Amir and Hassan Ali to do with the bat.
4. All-rounder (spinners)
This is where we have shown some real talent and great competition between Imad, Shadab and Nawaz.
high hopes from these two.
5. Fast Bowlers (Left Arm)
Wahab & Junaid have been picked. I would have given chance to either Usman or Rumman instead of Junaid. We all saw how different Junaid has become in the PSL compared to the Junaid of 2012-2014.
6. Fast Bowler (Right Arm)
It is truly injustice to Sohail Khan for being dropped form both T20 and ODI squad given he was the highest wicket taker in PSL.
Was he not fit? Have to ask that question to Inzi / Mickey / Sarfaraz.
7. Spinners
Asghar has been picked over Yasir. I feel both are deserving but it is great to see some tight competition in the spinning department.

My ODI XI:
1. Shahzad
2. Zaman
3. Babar
4. Kamran
5. Malik / Zakir
6. Sarfaraz
7. Shadab
8. Imad Wasim
9. Amir
10. Hassan Ali
11. Asghar
Depending on the track, could replace one of the spinners with Fahim Ashraf (I think he is a med-pacer).
