To see Naseem Shah play in almost every single leauge just shows how backward Pak cricket is. No planning, no targets, just nothing.

Why should your premier white ball bowler go and play every single leauge.

I blame the pcb they can easily say your not allowed to participate in tournaments.

For all the experience our players get in these leagues, they ultimate end up having nothing to show for it when it comes too meaningful T-20, ODI series wins against top sides or winning major ICC trophies. End result is that Pakistan's test side is low tier.

What is Naseem Shah doing in these pyjama leagues, just a couple months before the WC?

Pakistani Stars Babar & Naseem Joined Colombo Strikers in LPL 2023

Dubai

The Colombo Strikers, who will play their first season of the Lanka Premier League this year, announced a star-studded Icon Players line-up on Tuesday. Fast bowler Naseem Shah will be looking to lead the bowling attack with Pathirana. The youngster has taken 73 wickets in 76 matches at a magnificent average of 29.75.

The 20-year-old Matheesha Pathirana has caught the cricketing world by storm with his performances in T20s in the recent past. The fast bowler has picked up 22 wickets in 20 matches at a spectacular average of 22.36.

The Colombo Strikers will be in action in their first season of the Lanka Premier League in July-August 2023.

So Babar wasn’t picked in the hundred draft because of national duty clashes but is now picked in Lanka League (not through the draft system either)

Am I missing something here?

Easy money for the guys isn't it.

3 weeks of fairly low level cricket where they should dominate.

It's a step up for Babar after having recently played in the Ramadhan cup.

Does anyone know when he'll be playing in Nepal's T20 league?

2021 T20 WC: Just missed out on making the final.
2022 T20 WC: Came second place.

The 2019 WC was played with a lot of dead-weight. The current ODI team is in a great place.

Fakhar Zaman also confirmed for Kandy Falcons

So thought PCB mandated that centrally contracted players could only play in the PSL + one other league…

Then what happened here?

PCB management changed so every policy reversed on its head.

Seems the policy has changed, although nothing official from PCB.

Pakistan have very little scheduled between now and the World Cup. The Asia cup is on tenterhooks, and no announcement of any other tour , rather than sitting bone idle no harm in the boys staying match sharp and time in the middle .
Don’t see what the big deal is at all.

Looking forward to a great experience with Colombo Strikers, Says Babar Azam

Colombo, 4th June, 2023: Pakistan captain and World Number 1 ODI batter Babar Azam will turn out for the Colombo Strikers in the Lanka Premier League, in what is the team’s first foray into the tournament.

The Colombo franchise will be closely watched and followed by the fans as the hope to see Babar Azam destroy bowling attacks with immense grace. The top-order batter has amassed a whopping 9201 runs in 260 T20s at a brilliant average of 44.02.

Babar, who is also one of the first cricketers to join the Harvard Business School's executive education program, along with Pakistan teammate Muhammad Rizwan, recently met up with Colombo Strikers’ owner Sagar Khanna for a candid conversation ahead of the Lanka Premier League which will begin on the 31st of July.

The player auction for the Lanka Premier League is on 14 June and the Colombo Strikers will hope to sign on some of the most talented players up for grabs. Along with Babar, Matheesha Pathirana, Naseem Shah and Chamika Karunarathne are already included in the squad for the Colombo Strikers.

“It was great to catch up with Sagar and talk cricket. Sagar is a fantastic person to work with and is quite keen and knowledgeable when it comes to the game of cricket. I hope to have more such conversations and chats with him in the future. The Lanka Premier League with the Colombo Strikers will be a great experience for me and the others I feel with this kind of a management who is always backing the players,” Babar Azam said.

“Babar is a superb player and an inspiration to all the youngsters. His batting abilities and captaincy is fantastic and I am very happy that we are working together at the Colombo Strikers. It is always nice to talk cricket with him, and even better when it happens in person,” Sagar Khanna said.

The Colombo Strikers will be in action in their first season of the Lanka Premier League in July-August 2023.

They have worked hard to get to this stage.
PLus, they are not paid according to their value. Same players or worst players than them make 10 times more in IPL

The Lanka Premier League (LPL) auction is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, June 14, with the tournament itself taking place from July 30 to August 22, 2023.

I blame the pcb they can easily say your not allowed to participate in tournaments.

Wrong way to disillusion a young cricketer.

Give them 2 Leagues plus a Pakistan first contract clause.

Let them choose which league pays them best.

Beyond 2 leagues, if they need participation NOC.

IF playing in 2+ leagues breaks a bowler down, clause for decreasing salary based on time lost.

Simple.

Wahab Riaz has been acquired Colombo Strikers.

Muhammad Hasnain has been acquired B-Love Kandy.

No bidder for Imam at $20k

And Misbah ul Haq opened a T20 with him in Australia

No one wants Sack of potatoes Haider Ali at 30k

Asif Ali sold at 30k to We love Candy

Ibrahim Zadran unsold at $10k

Misbah Ul Haq or RizBar fans would bid $300k for him

Who set Hafeez’s base price at $50k?

He deserves 50 thousand Chittar for such a blunder!

This has to be the most embarrassing attempt at an auction I have seen.

90% of the players have gone unsold. What’s the point of having close to 400 names when the franchises already have 70-80 odd players which they want to invest in? As a result, they have to go through each and every name in the list and try to get a buyer!

Saim Ayub unsold $20k
Rassie Van Dussen unsold $20k
Umar Akmal unsold $10k

Pre-draft players:

Babar Azam - Colombo Strikers
Naseem Shah - Colombo Strikers
Fakhar Zaman - B-Love Kandy

Draft (so far):

Shoaib Malik - $50K to Jaffna Kings
Mohammad Hasnain - $34K to B-Love Kandy
Wahab Riaz - $40K Colombo Strikers
Mohammad Haris - $20K to B-Love Kandy
Iftikhar Ahmed - $50K to Colombo Strikers

There is no market value for cricketers because there is no open market in which they can be traded in. The value of the players is simply based on the value of the leagues they are being picked for.

Big demand for left arm seamers

Both Binura Fernando and Madushanka went for over 300% of their base value

Is Galle owned by Indians?

They clearly wanted nothing to do with Pakistani players

Faheem Ashraf, Haris Sohail and Imad Wasim - all unsold.

Wasim Akram was part of one of the franchises

I’m surprised as to how his franchise at least didn’t bid for Imad.

value in terms of how much revenue they bring for there bosses.

Good that Shaheen didn't register for it.

Wahab Riaz getting picked for 40-50k is hilarious.

And what kind of name is B-love Kandy? :afridi1 Is there some A-love Kandy too?

Chaminda Vaas, the bowling coach of Colombo Strikers on why Babar Azam is not leading the team in the ongoing Lanka Premier League.

“Babar wanted to play just as a batter and we respected his decision. Niroshan Dickwella is our captain. If you take Babar Azam, we all know that he’s the number one batsman in the world and the way he performs and contributes to the team is amazing"

“All the youngsters can learn so much from him. I’m so excited to see him play in the Lanka Premier League. Apart from him, there is Naseem Shah. A top bowler in the world, and working with him alongside (Matheesha) Pathirana is great"

Time to get this up and running.

Naseem Shah getting smashed. Babar dropping a dolly as well!

Colombo with 3 Pakistani core players

Absolute clueless side

Yeah that doesn’t seem to be true

Babar didn’t want to play “just as a batter for Karachi or Peshawar”

104(59) for Babar Azam - his side won

Incredible choke. Only scored 55% of the team's runs.
That is the difference between good and legend player. A big player will always finishes off the match from that position. Babar never looked comfortable at finishing off the matches

Babar can open in domestic matches but opening for Pakistan will cost them again in important matches in the future when the next T20 world cup is less than a year away.

Scoring a century in T20 cricket is like scoring a hat trick in football, if your team loses despite that then it's the team's fault, not the player's.

As things stand he scored 55% of the runs while consuming less than 50% of the deliveries, that's a match-winning effort.

Keep up your preconceived bias.

Great innings from Babar.

Only Chris Gayle has scored more T20 centuries, but experts here tell us that Babar isn’t a T20 player 😂

Please show us the match winning innings Babar has made for Pakistan in tournaments knockouts and series deciders over the last few years in T20 cricket.

Galle Titans missed a trick by getting Babar out in the final over

The game was in the bag with 14 runs to win and Babar having to do the scoring

Yes, he got the 100 but he could never have got the 14. With those sort logical deductions you should be doing Maths at MIT

But he didn’t get the 14 off the last over did he? So what exactly have I said is factually incorrect? We know from the past he isn’t a pressure player

But you said had he stayed in, they would have lost. How did you figure that out. A guy with SR of nearly 200 on the day, a guy with 10 centuries in T20 cricket couldnt get possibly get 14:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I figured that out with my elite game sense. It’s nothing personal against Babar. My mind works like the winviz. I know this game well.

I’m pretty sure Babar would have bottled the last 14.

Tbf I didn’t think Nawaz would have scored those runs either so I am happy to be proven wrong

LPL - in terms of leagues - how good is it in terms of standards?

Very poor. And it doesn’t help with plenty of decent players playing league cricket in Canada at the same time.

Today the fielding standards were horrendous. Very disappointing considering Sri Lankans are generally good athletes

Sri Lankan pace and spin bowlers are very poor as well overall

Ok so BA innings whilst good should be taken with some degree of salt.

Babar played well for what was offered to him. It was a proper innings according to his style of play. Very impressive
