In 2016, Pakistan drew 2-2 in England after four weeks of acclimatisation and preparation.

In 2018, Pakistan has started superbly at Lords. It’s players have a combined 126 days of First Class practice in England and Ireland this season, while England only have 82.

Practice works.

Yet Pakistan lost 2-0 in the UAE to Sri Lanka because they turned up without ANY First Class practice.

Mickey Arthur really is to be congratulated on this practice. And now Pakistan needs to do he same in South Africa in November to prepare for the December series!

What’s more worrying is not grooming Shaheen Shah Afridi for SA.

What’s your XI against NZ later this year?

I totally agree.

I don’t want to play NZ in the UAE. I want to host them in South Africa!

Junaids though acclimatization does play a role, a huge factor that went in our favor was cold, early English summer, perfect swing and seam conditions, Pak given a chance to bowl first.

If this same match was being held later in the summer on the same ground, Pak bowlers would've found it hard to take wickets.

Not taking anything away, made good use of the conditions.

Building on my earlier point.....

What’s the point of playing against NZ in empty stadia in the UAE, burning out the quicks and exposing the lack of spin bowling depth?

Why not host them in SA in Mickey’s Home town of East London, Bloemfontein and Kimberley?

Small, cheap venues and a perfect time zone for Pakistani and English TV!

And perfect preparation for three Tests at bigger South African venues a month later.

the best preparation about this tour was a match agaisnt Ireland that really set the tone to get them a proper training before the big games

I think everytime Pakistan comes to England we should try to play at least 2 test matches against Ireland and some practice matches with counties that will be really goid

Trust me, if it was up to me, I would never host another Test match in the UAE.

MA’s game is not devoted to a spin-centered attack.

That’s why he lost to SL.

He didn’t want to use a second spinner even though he knew we needed it because he believed that pace was enough to hold on.

He did recently hint in an interview that he would play both Yasir and Shadab in the UAE and that Yasir would be our most important bowler.

He has learned from the SL series.

England tours are the only tours where we prepare properly.

Compare this to the shambolic preparations before the New Zealand and Australia tours in 2016-17 - our only tour match got rained off in NZ and we played one match against an Australian outfit that resembled a club team's 2nd XI.
