Pakistan rubbishes India’s ‘charge sheet’ in Pulwama attack case as ‘motivated propaganda’ [Post#8]

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will file a chargesheet on Tuesday afternoon in the February 2019 Pulwama terror attack case, naming Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) chief Maulana Masood Azhar, his brother Abdul Rauf Asghar, several other commanders of the terror outfit and seven arrested person accused for their involvement in the bombing at Pakistan’s behest, officials familiar with the matter said. Forty Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed in the attack that brought India and Pakistan to the brink of war.

The over 5,000-page charge sheet has been completed after an investigation by a team of deputy inspector general Sonia Narang and police superintendent Rakesh Balwal. It will be filed before a special NIA court in Jammu.

The officials cited above said the charge sheet has irrefutable evidence--technical, material and circumstantial evidence--on Pakistan’s role in the attack. It cites the roles of the JeM leadership and the arrested accused in the attack and has details like chats, calls details of terrorists.

HT reported first this month that NIA will name Pakistan and its spy agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), for planning and executing the state-sponsored attack, for which highly-trained terrorists were sent to India.

NIA probe has revealed that Pakistan used Adil Ahmad Dar, a local resident who rammed an explosive-laden car into a CRPF convoy in Pulwama, as a suicide bomber to project the attack as a result of a home-grown militancy against “India’s occupation of Kashmir”, one of the officers cited above said.

Azhar, who founded JeM in 2000 after he was freed from an Indian prison in exchange for 155 passengers of a hijacked aircraft, and Asghar have been named as the primary accused in the charge sheet.

Seven alleged JeM operatives arrested from Kashmir since February, Shakir Bashir Magrey, Mohammad Abbas Rather, Mohammad Iqbal Rather, Waiz-ul-Islam, Insha Jan, Tariq Ahmad Shah, and Bilal Ahmed Kuchey, have been named for “conducting reconnaissance, providing logistics and assisting in planning the attack”.

The names of Pakistani terrorist Mohammad Umar Farooq, who was sent to India to execute the attack, Kamran, JeM’s area commander, Mudassir Khan, and Adil Ahmad Dar also figure in charge sheet but not as accused as they have been killed. Farooq, Kamran, and Mudassir Khan were killed in March 2019 in separate exchanges of fire with security forces.

Azhar was among those India designated as individual terrorists in 2019. The move came following an amendment to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, which allows the government to designate individuals as terrorists. The US has similar laws for such designations and the 2019 move opened an added avenue for joint action against terrorists.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has denied his country’s role in the Pulwama attack and even offered to prosecute the culprits if India provided evidence. Islamabad has not, however, taken any substantive action against global terrorists operating from its soil, including Azhar even as it has been under pressure from the international community.

NIA’s probe has concluded the explosive material for the attack was collected over a period of time from mining blocks and locations used by cement factories for blasting rocks in Khrew (Pulwama), Khunmoh (Srinagar), Tral, Awantipora, and Lethpora.

The NIA charge sheet also details the email, text, and social media communications of key players in the bombing, including Azhar’s brother.

The Pulwama attack threatened to spark a full-blown conflict between India and Pakistan. JeM claimed responsibility for the attack and prompted India to carry out an airstrike on a terror camp in Pakistan’s Balakot. Pakistan retaliated a day later and triggered a brief dogfight involving warplanes of the two countries.

yawn..more media drama from the Indians to continue their campaign against Pakistan. When in doubt shout cross border terrorism. the fall back position. They have done a very good job in the last twenty years to destroy Pakistans image in the media and trot this bakwaas out when they other options have become dormant.

Got their backsides well and truly spanked by China so Indian media gets up off the floor and back to Pakistan and Lashkar-e-this or Jaish-e-that.

Smart move really, flyweight should never try to engage with a heavyweight unless it's a hot air competition.

its always the same and for some reason our lot don't seem to counter it effectively. IK has done better than most but we need to really put these guys on the spot. I'm tired of this fake narrative nd the false flags.

Honestly, I think it would just be a waste of time and effort. Pakistan must have better things to focus on than India where any sort of engagement with the current administration is not going to get off the ground. It makes more sense to concentrate on developing relations elsewhere and improving conditions at home. The authorities can worry about India when there is some direct communication from them as to a particular issue. Why worry about what their media is peddling to their own people?

true. I just get frustrated with the same nonsense all the time. It is then trotted out by the western media everytime a Pakistani appears on their screens.

Yes. Pakistan manages to smuggle a massive amount of explosives into India across the most heavily militarised border on the planet.

Yawn

Even the Kashmiris here have said how tight the security is around army patrols and noone is allowed to go near. Inside job clearly. Didn't they catch their own army man in a taxi with a known militant last year or something? :))

Pakistan rubbishes India’s ‘charge sheet’ in Pulwama attack case as ‘motivated propaganda’

Pakistan on Wednesday rejected the charge sheet filed by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the Pulwama attack case, stating that the fabrications in the report were designed to further the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) anti-Pakistan rhetoric and its narrow domestic political interests.

Tensions between Pakistan and India have been high since an attack took place on Indian paramilitary troops in February last year which killed more than 40 soldiers. India accused Pakistan of being behind the attack from the get-go — a charge Islamabad has vehemently denied.

In a statement, Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Zahid Chaudhri said that Islamabad categorically rejected the “so-called ‘charge sheet’” by the NIA which “mischievously attempts to implicate Pakistan in the Pulwama attack” in Indian-occupied Kashmir.

“At the outset, Pakistan had rejected India’s baseless allegations and expressed readiness to extend cooperation on the basis of any actionable information.

“India failed to provide any credible evidence for its invective and has instead been using the attack for its malicious propaganda campaign against Pakistan.”

A day earlier, the Indian investigation agency had filed a 13,500-page report before a special court in which it named 19 people who it said allegedly carried out the attack at Pakistan’s behest, Hindustan Times reported.

Officials said the charge sheet had “irrefutable evidence” — technical, material and circumstantial — on Pakistan’s role in the attack, the report added.

In his statement, the FO spokesperson said the timing of the Pulwama attack, just two months before the Lok Sabha elections in India, the fact that the explosives used in the attack were collected from inside occupied Kashmir, and that the key accused persons in the attack have already been killed by Indian forces, “raise too many questions”.

“The world knows well as to who benefited the most from the Pulwama attack and drew electoral dividends.”

The statement added that Indian military aircraft engaged in belligerent action against Pakistan on February 26, 2019.

Timeline: Events leading up to the Feb 2019 Pak-India aerial combat

“The Indian misadventure was effectively countered by the Pakistan Air Force, which resulted in the downing of two Indian warplanes and the capture of an Indian pilot. Despite India’s provocations, the Indian pilot was released by Pakistan as a peace gesture.

“In response to a paper shared by the Indian government following the Pulwama attack, Pakistan constituted a high-level investigation team to examine its contents.

“As the information provided by India was incomplete, patchy and unsubstantiated, Pakistan shared two aides-memoir, seeking further information and supporting evidence from India.

“India has been unable to provide any corroboration of its unfounded allegations. India cannot mislead the world community with its motivated propaganda,” the press release said.

Indian allegations against Pakistan seek to divert attention from India’s state terrorism and grave human rights violations in occupied Kashmir, and the “RSS-BJP regime’s mishandling of domestic issues”, it added.

“Pakistan has been forewarning the international community about India’s use of a ‘false flag’ operation and possible ill-conceived misadventure.

“With the approaching state elections in India, the RSS-BJP ploy of raising the Pakistan bogey again for making electoral gains is palpable. We warn the world community again to be cognisant of its dangerous consequences for peace and security in the region.”

India is doing this wrong. It worked well initially about 10 years ago, but now they repeat the same thing so often that almost no one listens to them.
