Mehran Mumtaz and Saad Baig's Cricket Journey. An interesting conversation between the two talented cricketers with Sarfaraz Ahmed
Mehran Mumtaz and Saad Baig are two talented cricketers who started cricket from the grassroots level and are showing a bright future due to their excellent performance. Wicketkeeper-batter Saad Baig has captained the Pakistan U-19 team, while Mehran Mumtaz has represented Pakistan Shaheens as a left-arm spinner.
Both cricketers have spoken about their cricketing journey with Test wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed in a conversation for PCB Digital. Mehran Mumtaz says that he was initially a fast bowler but started bowling spin on the advice of the club coach. He has been playing cricket since under-13, and the journey so far has been great. Mehran Mumtaz says that he has played for Pakistan in the Under-19 World Cup; he has also played in the Emerging Asia Cup, in which Pakistan defeated India in the final, apart from Pakistan Shaheens' tour to Zimbabwe and recently to Darwin. They try to do well wherever they get a chance to play. Mehran Mumtaz says that when you play with senior cricketers, you get to learn a lot. Mehran says that the victory against India in the final of the Asia Emerging Tournament is a memorable moment for him.
Saad Baig also describes the win against India in the U-19 Asia Cup as an unforgettable moment for him. Interestingly, both players remember the ICC Champions Trophy, which Pakistan won under the captaincy of Sarfraz Ahmed, and they both say that they also wanted to win the same against India, and their wish came true. Saad Baig says that it is an honor for him to lead the Pakistan U-19 team. His family is very happy to be named in Pakistan Shaheens. His father's encouragement has always been involved in his cricket.
Both of them asked Sarfraz Ahmed that since they have not played for Pakistan yet, what kind of experience and pressure is it? Sarfraz Ahmed gave his example, saying that he also came up through the grassroots level to international cricket and played cricket in stages. Under his leadership, Pakistan won the U-19 World Cup, but he has also played club cricket regularly and has not missed any opportunity to play club cricket. He would advise these two cricketers to believe in hard work and try to play as many matches as possible, be it club matches or any other, because the more matches you play, the more match fitness you will get.
