Pakistan suffer another fourth-innings collapse, New Zealand win first Test by four runs

I guess Yasir, Bilal, and Hasan were right. They didn't trust Azhar can finish it. He had 6 overs to make 12 runs but he couldn't. But now they really need to get Hafeez and Billal out to bring in Fakhar and another spinner or go with Shaheen.
 
Sarfraz's mentality is reflected on the rest of this team.

He has to be sacked !
 
Sarfraz should step down, Bilal needs to be dropped. It’s time to bring in Fakhar and take out Hafeez.

Changes are needed. This is a blessing in disguise.

Batsmen take the biggest blame but some of the extreme negative posters should take some too.

Another blessing in disguise. Better team win to be honest. Our players are mentally handicapped. Can't expect better from them in longer formats

Azhar should have looked to finish it, dragging it out like this was stupid. It only increased our chances.

Agree and Abbas should be blamed most of all. Didn’t give Azhar enough support.
 
Hard to believe Azhar played so many balls towards the end but cannot find a single boundary neither did he manage any 2s or put any pressure on kiwi fielders.

This is a very very disappointing loss for Pakistan, this will hurt them for very long.

I was watching The batsman, had chance to go for a big shot, 2s are never gonna come as both slow running between the wickets and field is well widespread. But why didn’t he take a chance and gone up and over, down the wicket against the spinner? The tailender was defending well, should’ve trusted him more.
 
Just shows, that these Hafeez and Azhar ******* have never been match winners. Any sign of pressure, and they never see a situation through.
 
Still two tests to go. This is a new team. Pakistan might win the next two. Bobby Azam will come good in the next two tests.

But,for now LMAOOO lost by 4 runs at home!!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
 
Kiwis always turn up against us.

Imagine India chasing this today. Would have barely gotten out of second gear.

You just know now that any score is defendable against this brittle pak batting line up
 
Just to add, the wicket was fine for batting, it never deteriorated and there really are now excuses for this.
 
The field was spread for 5 of the 6 deliveries

If he got caught in the deep you guys would have gone nuts
 
What a Test match, I thought I'll go for a nap at lunch, but then last ball before lunch ......

Test cricket at it's best. I knew it'll be close over 170 target, but PAK really made is silly from 147-3. And, Kiwi supporters should be more polite against Ken next time - I'll give him MoM only for his 4th innings Captaincy.

Great Test, PAK will come back, but Sarfraz needs to win the toss here - batting first Kiwis will give fight to the end.

I'm from NZ but haven't come here to boast. Sincerest commiserations. It was a magnificent test in which it was very sad that one team lost. Perhaps a tie would've been a fairer result. It was great to see the respect between the two teams and I hope the other two tests are played in such great spirit.

True. And the problem is that Azhar is a limited batsman. He just does not have enough ability or enough shots to manipulate the field. At the most he could take a single once in an over in such a situation. So he sticked to that strategy. It was bound to backfire.
 
Very nice field placements by kane.
Blocked the limited area of azhar to get any boundary. The boundary fielders were 20 yards inside so cut the doubles.
Great tactics. Pak as usual crumbled under slight pressure.
 
Pakistan deserve to lose for the following reasons

1. When you have a captain who can't bat or lead the side
2. Hafeez opening the batting order
3. Perhaps most importantly in this test - dropping your best player of spin (Fakhar)

As soon as the lead crept over 150 I couldn't envisage a win with such a spineless batting line up.

Azhar Ali is at no fault at all. The other batsmen should be blamed no doubt.

err no they wont..like I said stop reading the manic depressives posts..we can easily beat them again..we should have won this but this team hasnt got the experience in situations like this..bigger teams have failed under this pressure..they will learn..be patient..
 
Pakistan always crumble under pressure and have panic attack. This was an easy chase were cruising on their home ground and then this happened. This has happened numerous times in the past. Pakistan is a bigger choker than SA. Congrats to NZ for this fantastic win
 
Ramiz thought ajaz is a recent migrant and thought he spoke little english. he asked if he is comfortable in speaking in hindi only to hear him respond in a heavy new zealand accent:)):))

Micky Arthur, Ul Haq & Sarfraz should be made to read PakPassion for 24 hours at one go - without sleep, food, and pee (water is allowed but that doesn't help without pee option). Use search option and red every thread, every post related to PAK's Test combination, UAE wickets and domestic bowlers.

PAK lost this Test, ONLY & I repeat ONLY because of not picking a 2nd specialist SLAO spinner. And, the irony is that, the MotM is a SLAO spinner!!!!
 
Lost for words. We may win this series, but the mentality of this team is awful. You can sense the panic spreading not only amongst the youngsters, but the senior players who bottled it again.

Even putting aside the chase, to get only 227 in the 1st innings was disgraceful - after bowling them out for 153 our lackadaisical attitude suggested we thought we already won the match.

It seems Indians and their descendants are more triggered by that celebration than anyone else, why else would you be waiting for a loss to post that? Totally random.

Anyway Pakistan's batting as usual below standard, this is always where the issues are.

Uh, he did it to us in the Test and has done it against us multiple times in the past?

It's obnoxious and provocative. He was one of the batsmen who threw his wickets away which led to Pakistan losing.

I wonder how you would have taken it if Ajaz did that celebration after getting Azhar out.

Its a good reality check for this so-called no. 1 T20I team. This is one of the worst defeats we've had in recent times. The pitch was good. It was not flat deck but it was okay.

Imam-ul-Haq (Not a test material)
M. Hafeez (Sack him for good)
Azhar Ali (Limited player)
Haris Sohail (Need to work on his fitness, looks lazy at times)
Asad Shafiq (Never won us matches dont know what is he doing here)
Babar Azam (Need more grooming)
Sarfaraz Ahmad (Doesn't deserve a place as a player let alone as a captain)
Bilal Asif (I wouldn't select him in the street team)
Yasir Shah (Just not impressive at all)
Hasan Ali (Need to get that fame out of his brain)
Abbas (Justifies his place)
 
We need world class batsmen in ability but also mental strength of Younis Misbah Inzi. This is where we lose winnable matches.

No need for over reaction had we got those 4 runs do you think NZ fans would be asking for complete team change. Many players performed really well to put us in the winning position. Seniors like Hafeez Azhar and Asad let team down. The only two changes I agree with you is Hafeez and Bilal.
 
We need Umar Akmal, PP’s don’t realise that the other players they mention like saud shakeel, Saad ali etc wouldn’t have done any better than today’s lot. Umar Akmal is our answer to success.

There was a thread which went to 200 replies from Indians incensed about Pakistani player celebrations in general, and another one about him doing it at the Wagah border. Now even after 6 months seems some people are still burning about it. It's not healthy to carry rage over a nothing incident for so long.

Heck, put yourself in the batsmen's position, how would you feel if someone sent you off like that?
