First match at NSK, not 100% full. There are some stands empty, not a good sign for the PSL start.

There will be beter attendance in Lahore & Pindi for sure i think.

Let's see how it goes as tournament progresses.
 
PSL is a mediocre league, tbh. We are not even close to IPL. Thats a fact. But its hard to swallow because of our national pride. IPL has great quality, which attracts crowds. While, our presentation was limited to lip syncing battle and Fakhar e Alam making strange noises while calling out names of players.

PSL needs devillers, warner, smith, maxwell, buttler, kohli, other indian players to really shine. Don't even get me started on quality of bowlers in IPL, especially Indian bowlers now acing rankings as well

Disagree with that thought. Let's all the team's play at their home ground. Imagine this Quetta playing in Quetta their first match rather than in Karachi. And people do get hesitant to get to the ground because of alot of checkpoints and hassle they have to go through.

Man, it's not about regions. That's some twisted logic. Pakistan has never been about that. The love is for stars and foreign players. Karachi is pretty dense city. It should have attracted plenty of crowd, but it didn't. And the reason is not checkpoints, or hassle. Have the stars play in Pakistan, and I will rush to the stadium myself. But at now, this has been a tournament of domestic players with retired foreign nationals. It just doesn't have revenue or money to hide it's weaknesses. This is probably why you don't see sky sports associate with PSL as well. Even broadcasters are after quality

Finally somebody who is not drinking the PSL Kool Aid. Thank you, exactly what I've been saying for past two years.

You won't pack the stands with mediocrity like Shadab, Nawaz, Amad etc.
 
Cherry picking at its finest. This image is from around 12:45 past midnight Pakistan time on a weekday night.

First half of the game(when it was not too late night) was quite full(apart from one small section that was half full). It looks like you've taken an image out of context just to prove your point...
 
It was almost full in the first innings.. tomorrow is a working day so few of them started to leave as the game finished quite late..
 
Talking to folks who were at the stadium said it was 80% full and the part of the stadium that was empty was right behind the stage setup for the opening ceremony . . those tickets didn't sell . . PCB dropped the prices of those stands as well supposedly . . so I am sure that played a role in that stand being not full . . other than that part of the stadium, I have been told it was full
 
There are lot of issues as economy is not alright in Pakistan. Food inflation is sky high and electricity due to IMF program has also jumped up. For locals there are lot more important things to spend on. Plus interest in cricket has waned due to national team performances. Thanks to Hafeez,MAlik and Imam there is no star like Saeed Anwar, Afridi or Wasim/Waqar. People are mostly following matches from home.

You do realize that this game has more ppl in than any other league including the big bash. Only IPL games are sold out and they have had 11 years of home games.
Lower your expectations mate.
 
Good sizeable crowd now making a lot of noise . A lot of people are sitting right at the back to avoid the sun. And in the shade
 
Not happy with Karachi crowd today, lets see Lahore and Pindi. Pakistanis simply do not put their money where their mouth is.

You do realize that this game has more ppl in than any other league including the big bash. Only IPL games are sold out and they have had 11 years of home games.
Lower your expectations mate.

It was full yesterday. This is a day match on a weekday still a pretty good crowd taking that into account. Evening would probably be full stadium again.
 
Shahid afridi is back expecting full house today

So finally after waiting for almost 11 years the people are finally going to see their boss of entertainment as he is known for best crowd puller
After seeing almost 30% seats empty
So has the finally arrived to witness the full ofcrowd in lahore

Shops are closed for a couple of hours in the afternoon, but it's a normal working day for everyone else. Fridays used to be off in the eighties and early nineties but they changed that in 1997 as the government realized the economy was suffering needlessly.

Its called Namaz Break not an off day when shops are closed for an hour during Jumma prayers.
 
Lol. Lets see how much turn over is on Sunday. People will say, Monday being a working day, it will have less. And Saturday being a holiday after work, it will also have less. There are so many excuses lol. Can we just except that may be it's due to lack of quality?
 
Even IPL practice games, or players practicing in stadiums have full HOUSE. Why? People want to see Starc, Cummins, trent bolt, the stars which are playing currently in the modern game. Not retired players. We only have Steyn and Jason Roy who are good foreign stars. Ricky Ponting will coach a team this year. How cool is that. Man, even our cricketers should play IPL as it will improve our pressure handling capabilities

Who is forcing is to watch this low quality league. I don't know what have triggered you i cannot find single post in this thread who is chest pumping about crowd or quality of league

When you have a 220 million plus population, you expect a 25,000 capacity stadium to be full. Stop making excuses pal. Truth hurts.

Exactly. The lack of quality is the reason for not house full crowds. Why does it hurt you?

One more reason I can think of is, that tickets are expensive. And the middle class doesnt have much to spend on their lives, so how you expect them to spend insane money on tickets. Tickets should be cheaper, so that working class can also be part of the crowd. If it will be housefull, you will have much better enivronment

Ipl fan boy t20 tamsha league alone doesn't improve pressure handling otherwise South africa would won atleast 2 icc tournament since 2010

Except one stand the crowd was pretty good and beat the empty stands in Dubai.

I'm talking facts. Your posts have very little facts. Aside from one stand the rest had a good amount of people with a lot of noise throughout the game.

First match was almost full what else you want?
As for quality of foreign players, I hope you know that this is the first full PSL in Pakistan, so the foreign starts would start joining in when the security confidence would grow. IPL financial might is a lot greater than PSL as well, so stop comparing PSL to IPL and either enjoy the PSL or go out train spotting,
 
This game was 100% better than those games in UAE and the crowd as well. The stadium was not full but after 4 pm it had quite a crowd. Around 80% it was I'm guessing.

A number of factors add in to why the stadium was not jam packed.

And this was a day game that too on Friday. People are working on Friday in Karachi. And I think ticket prices can be lowered more. [ If someone cam confirm whether the 500rs (lowest tier) tickets were sold off or not. ]

Karachi has suffered so much in many fields in the recent past. And I honestly feel Lahore will always have better crowd attraction than Karachi. I don't know the exact reason why.

Also you can't expect houseful on every game just because PSL is back in Pakistan. There's need for improvement and not many great foreign stars currently.

I think if tickets were like 200 or something, with 50 percent off for students , there will be a lot of students & working class too. These two make most of the noise. And adds to the environment of the game. VIPs just stay lazy and dont even chant for their stars

By your logic a stadium in Karachi should never be empty even for a test match. Same should me the case with big cities around the globe. Lol!

Exactly. You know what the talk is in the students circle. They want to buy tickets and go see match together but 500rs tickets are more or less sold off and they can't all afford 1000rs and plus price tickets. And Pakistan very recently had their currency devalued.

It's the classic problem of our society and system. Those who make decisions like that, are from elite sections and don't get such things right. Kind of like how things are with government as well. They don't buy stuff like a common man and then complains that media is conspiring against their 'perfect' government. You gotta have the feel of the society and people. Otherwise, there is no point. Young generation are unemployed. And those who are employed, they have very low salary. 500 Rs. ticket and then they need money to travel & eat there too. So, it's a lot tbh. We should not compensate for our losses in Dubai by overcharging the locals here.
 
Empty stadium in Lahore.... don't see the usual suspects barking like they were yesterday.

Imo 75% of the tickets should be 1000rs and below.

That's the case with sports. Have you watched soccer? NFL? Any sports other than cricket? India is the power house, like Australia, like England. They always have crowd full, no matter the occasion. Kinda suits them to be big three, although I am against the structure, but those who earn the biggest, must have their due share.

I have watched other sports as well including premier league, NBA, Ice Hockey. Yes stadiums are full its not like there is no empty seat for every match. Also dynamics are different, its not look they often hold matches in the afternoon or morning of a week day as we see in cricket leagues every other day.

League matches in North America for NBA or NHL etc are always in the evenings so that people can come to the arenas and watch them or watch it at home after work or in a bar with friends. The purpose of the leagues is to provide entertainment to the people and therefore it is adjusted around people's schedules. Not like these T20 leagues that have 5 matches a day just to get through them quickly.

I think Big Bash follows a similar pattern to North American leagues.

Exactly.
 
The problem with camera work is, it only focuses on areas or spots where there are people. So, you dont get actual picture. Unlike, what England has, where people make waves in stadiums and cheer and sing songs and cameras focus on whole stands

DissapoinTed at the lahore crowd..thought the nsk one was good..I'm expecting the lahoris to come in a bit later..overall I'm not too fussed as it's just great to have it in Pakistan. I feel this is a reboot and ee should be supporting it instead of wrist slitting.
