In an interesting move, three franchises of the Pakistan Super League have decided to hire video analysts from India for the forthcoming edition of the league in the UAE.

A reliable source, aware of the developments, told PTI that Lahore Qalanders, Islamabad United and Multan Sultans are planning to hire video analysts from India.

“Indian video analysts who work with Kolkata Knight Riders and another franchise have been offered the assignments in the third PSL edition,” the source said.

In the first two editions of the PSL, Lahore and Islamabad had local video analysts with the former hiring the top video analyst of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Talha Hashmi.

“But Talha has been told to wait and his contract for the third PSL is now on hold by the Lahore franchise,” the source said.

Coincidentally all three franchises looking for Indian video analysts will be coached and supervised by the former pace trio of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Aaqib Javed in the third PSL, which begins from February 25 in Dubai.

While Aaqib is head coach of the Lahore franchise, Waqar recently joined the Islamabad United while Akram has taken over affairs at the new entrant, Multan Sultans.

Akram, in particular, has spent a lot of time on the coaching staff of KKR in the Indian Premier League and Waqar also worked for a season in the IPL with the Hyderabad franchise.

This will be a start but gonna be a long time before Indians play in PSL and Pakistanis play in IPL

Question is will Modi government allow them to travel to Pakistan.

Dont see Indians playing in IPL ever until BCCI change their stance (Indian playing foreign leagues). Allowing Indian players for one league will create an environment where other boards would demand similar treatment. Plus PSL runs during India’s domestic and International assignment.

As far as Pakistanis in IPL, it will most likely comes down to Govt we have. Modi or BJP govt would definately continue their Anti Pakistan stance, whereas Congress govt could be more lenient. However, dont see Congress ever returning to Govt (I sure hope they never do) in near time, meaing Pakistani players would’ve to wait very long time perhaps even another decade or so.

Last thing i would add is, apart from 1st few season, Indian fans have generally not missed Pakistani players in IPL.

Anyone is free to do anything from an individual perspective. Problem is when you are representing India as a nation.

I think what is being missed so far in the thread, and as usual being hijacked by IPL/PSL talks, is the quality of Indian video Analysts which makes them hot property. I know one guy who works with Mumbai Indians and is currently witht he Indian team in SA (Dhananjai), he is a known acquaintance. He is really sought after.

Cricket Analytics has boomed in India and I know a couple of companies doing some serious work there. Even the analyst for SA team (yes the one who was jumping up and down when Steyn took Dhawan's wicket) is an Indian. He is Prassana Agoram and also works for SRH.

I am not at all surprised with this news tbh.

You are right in stating that individual requires no approval from Indian Govt. However, he will definately need NOC from BCCI, which may be refused under Govt pressure. Govt is more than likely to be involved whether its a team or individuals when it comes to India and Pakistan.

Why will independent analysts need noc from bcci?
