Pakistan team management to request that Umar Akmal shouldn't be considered for World Cup selection

In my chat with Umar Akmal in PSL, he gave me the impression that he was hell bent on making things right and wanted to avoid all controversy, do things by the book.

Seems that only lasted for PSL.

Seems like he doesnt have any control over himself , remember after he got out in the first match of the series on 48 he said that the team management gave him the role to bat till the very end and he was sorry that he could not do it and made a vow that he would try to play long innings in the coming matches. We all saw what happened in the next 4 matches , he didnt seem in any kind of trouble against any bowling but he chose to play a slog every single time. I think he is a compulsive slogger and can't live without it.

A lot worse, A LOT has happened in past from players during a tour, before a tour and after a tour from getting arrested for posession of narcotics to geting in physical fights outside a strip club (told to many of us as mugged outside a restaurant/bar), having prostitutes over in hotel to secually harrasing females in planes to physically assulting teammates during pre game warmups.

They all recieved fines but never as big as their crimes/issues were.

But seriously what’s with the regular and continuous and flagrant abuse of discipline? He continues to do it without any shame.. if he wants to make a perm place In the team why can’t he control himself for a while?

Because he knew what ever he do, he won't be discarded and banned from pak cricket.

We have seen mohammad yousuf sent back from intl tour over a small discipline issue( i think he was late for practice).

But in umar case, be it
1) an openly abuse/verbal fight and allegations on pak coach.
2) hyderabad mujra incident
3) fake injury
4) numerous fights with fellow players
5) went to England without passing fitness test

Our own management is full of clowns. Instead of enforcing fitness where our supposedly main players are failing, they are taking this dude apart for going to concerts on a rest day instead. Call him out on what he needs to be called out on.

Umar Akmal attending a concert in a nightclub without informing any of the Pakistan team management. That in itself is a security issue, what if some idiot approached him and attacked him or glassed him, that could have been his career over.

Umar Akmal broke the team curfew outlined by team management.

Umar Akmal has had so many chances. Mickey Arthur has given him plenty of chances too.

Umar Akmal will never change.

After watching the video...I am actually feeling sympathetic towards him. First of all hardly anyone goes to a concert alone, unless he is extremely lonely in life. Then the way he was trying lip sync the songs rotating the camera was not looking very normal. I mean he is a cricketer and a celebrity himself but reminded me like one of those Asian blokes in London who barge into a nightclub alone late in the night.

He needs a minder and a brutal personal trainer. Not a punishment.

It’s like South Africa three months ago. Umar Akmal can be babysat and intensively trained and can perform. The alternatives can get fit, but they can’t bat.

I think the ONLY issue was him failing to inform team management.

And he probably thought heck if they say no, " I won't be able to go" and then I will miss out or if I still go then it would be a bigger issue despite not being given permission.

He shouldn’t have played the 5th ODI on basis of this disciplinary issues. Team management looks to be in a sorry state and perplexed. First of all UA shouldn’t have been given the chance with such fitness level and by the performances of PSL alone, including Hasnain. PSL should be one of the yard stick and not the only yard stick to decide any players inlcusion

He and Maqsood despite having all shots and good power hitting unfortunately got themselves addicted to slogging which has brought their careers down faster than they ever imagined.

Maqsoods foorwork is non existent , he can play shots on up but nowhere near the technique which umar akmal possesses.
