Pakistan team management warns three players to quit smoking or face being dropped

If smoking relaxes your body and mind then why not??
i know the three smokers I saw them in Nz hahaha they smoking in a gully far off from the hotel they stayed in.. But i m not against smoking occassionally

Wonder if you could share who the 3 were?

Based on the post, I think the 3 are Haris Sohail, Shadab & Shafiq

Pathetic stuff, smoking is a personal habit, none of the team management's or Mickey Arthur's business.

Which bird has told Rudi that shadab smokes?.... Although it could be true...My family always comments on how he looks the most unfit out of the new bunch.I also wouldn't be surprised if it's Hassan,Faheem and shadab

Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities smoke, other sporting celebrities smoke as well. It is possible to be supremely fit while smoking. The team management shouldn't be interfering too much in the players personal lives and opening an unnecessary can of worms.

Hollywood and Bollywood celebs aren’t sportsmen who need to keep healthy for a living And what rubbish is that you can be fit when smoking.?

Smoking causes amongst other things the narrowing of blood vessels, lack of blood oxygen to the heart lungs etc, increases heart resting rate well as airway resistance - all causing shortness of breath and impairing sporting performance It can cause various physiological diseases such as cancer, heart disease etc etc

Any tom knows there’s a negative connection between smoking and sporting performance

Haris Sohail and Rumman Raees are likely two of the three. My father saw them smoking behind the dressing rooms in Hamilton, beginning of this year.

Explains Haris Sohails lack of fitness....

Starts most innings in complete with superb timing then loses steam after 30 or so runs.

With all the news coming up now, this is an interesting bump.

Wahab is confirmed but I wonder if any of the newer guys smoke

Incredible how any professional athlete can maintain this habit. Would have a massive impact on fitness and even concentration.

Instead of putting restrictions and getting too personal with players personal life, the PCB should come up with tough criteria to qualify the fitness level.

1. Passing the YoYo (genuine score)
2. Minimum gym fitness level
3. Extremely strict diet provided by the chef appointed by PCB

Imad does too I saw him at Babar Azam's brothers instagram story, he was in the background of a function with a cigarette in his hand.

Two types of smokers - one who is habitual who just cant quit. Other could be somebody who might have a puff or two at a social gathering. Seeing somebody at a party smoking could mean nothing, it could just be someone chilling out occasionally. But somebody seen smoking during an event like the world cup is a habitual offender & needs to be taken action against, especially if he was already warned earlier.

Shane Warne - 40 a day.

40! I've been smoking for a decade and a half and the most in any phase I've gone to is 20-25 a day. 40 a day is another level in terms of what you feel. I think it has to do with genetics and Warne just was able to pull it off.

I've seen a match where Wasim Akram walked off the field in between play and lay down with a smoke in the dressing room. And he was also diabetic.

Javagal Srinath was a heavy smoker. John Wright used to just make him jog a couple rounds extra compared to others.

So, if the body can take it not sure anyone should be concerned about a smoker.

All your examples are of players who played more than a decade ago & has no place in modern cricket which demands extreme fitness levels to help manage the increased workload across all 3 formats of the game. Show me a modern day cricketer who smokes 40 cigarettes & still consistently plays across formats?

Warne was a one-off across any sport I think. Just very very unique genes.

Modern cricketers too smoke. Kohli has been photographed, though I doubt with his fitness obsession, he smokes regularly.

Joe Root and other England players too have been seen smoking. Point is not that everyone should smoke 40 :)) But that there have been players who smoke and currently do, and shouldn't be held against them.

Kohli i doubt smokes, not with his training & food regimen. Heard he has recently turned vegan too.

Read my post above yours, i had already said that occasional smoking in a party is ok, but regular smoking has no place in professional sports. If somebody cant/don’t want to quit regular smoking, sit at home or join a smokers club

Warne was also fat as a goat in his later years. He wouldn’t have survived the demands of modern day cricket.5

So from what I read here.
Rumman/Shadab haris wahab?
