I think Saud gonna play long for Pakistan and if you don't have enough options then go for young gun make him captain.

My second option is Shaheen but he is prone to injury and he is gonna miss test matches here and there.

We don’t even know if Saud can cut it at this level and you want to make him captain. So on top of trying to cement his place in the side, we’re going to put the added pressure of captaincy on this shoulders and make him a young captain in a team where seniority culture also runs rampant. Great thinking!

There is no other option but to persist with Babar until someone else emerges. Maybe down the road it’s Saud, but there’s no way in hell he is captain material today, he’s barely test material. Shaheen is again not articulate enough from the interviews we have seen of him, plus he’s very young if his age is real. We’ve seen enough of rizwan to know he won’t cut.

As much as we want Shan Masood to be the guy, he’s not very good at the one thing he should be good at: Batting. The fancy English will tickle our fancy every now and then but when you see him bat and get out cheaply those thoughts quickly vanish. We can’t cut and chop captains regularly, the next captain is a big decision. Best option is for Babar to register in cricket strategy tuition.

Totally different sporting culture in SA Vs Pakistan. Regardless, I certainly hope he plays for a long time. He has the potential, and I’d like to see him put up big scores consistently away and at home. Once he does that his name will automatically come up for captaincy.
