Pakistan will engage in 10 bilateral series next year apart from the World T20 Cup assignment, PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani has said.

Mani said in a podcast that Pakistan had lined up 10 bilateral series in the new year and would play around nine Tests, 20 ODIs and 39 T20 matches as there would be no shortage of cricket for players.

“New Zealand are coming over before the World T20 Cup. Next in is England to play two T20 matches and both teams will then leave for the event in India,” he said.

Mani said South Africa had sent their delegation to Pakistan to assess the Covid-19 protocols and security arrangements and they have agreed to send their team in January for two Tests and three T20 matches.

According to details, New Zealand will first come over in September-October to play three ODIs and three T20 internationals before leaving for the World Cup.

The day the New Zealand team leaves for India, England will reach Pakistan for their two T20 matches. Mani said the board was totally behind the national team management of head coach, Misbah-ul-Haq, coaches, Waqar Younis and Younis Khan and the support staff.

“I don’t think we can have a better management and support staff.” “We have the best and it can’t be better. We have also started inducting elite former players into our high performance centre and domestic cricket teams.” Mani also said that the board realised that Misbah could only work with the available resources and overall selection has been fair.

“Misbah is not alone; he has the support of Waqar and Younis Khan and all of them are people who have played and done well everywhere for Pakistan.”

The PCB chief also made it clear that Pakistan had got no financial benefit from sending its team to England in the summer but it was a decision taken after much thought for the sake of world cricket in the pandemic.

He also said the England Cricket Board had approached the PCB themselves for the short tour to Pakistan and the decision to hold the series later in the year was taken to ensure England’s full strength side came to Pakistan.

“All these positive things happening are only possible when the management in the board is professional.” Mani also said that the Board was working on methods to slowly allow back crowds to matches in coming days.

9 Tests

Hopefully we move this number to 12-15 next year.

If we keep on playing that much international cricket in Pakistan, and get rid of Misbah, team will definitely improve.

Good that a lot of home tours are lining up.

Our team will have plenty of practice before the T20 World Cup.

Hopefully we find the answer to the second opener that we are looking for to accompany Babar.

In 2022 we've got home series vs AUS, ENG and NZ. I think England and NZ are 3 test series, and Wasim Khan said he and CA had an agreement with CA to make the Aus series 3 tests as well. Also, we have a tour to Sri Lanka that has 2 tests. So if everything goes well,.that's 11 tests for 2022.

Comapared to 2019 and 2020 where we played 6 and 5 tests respectively, this is an improvement.

The 9 tests can be seen in the FTP(not including the NZ test 2 days from now). Currently there are 12 ODIs in the FTP, and 23 T20Is (including Englands tour), so I'm not sure where these extra 8 ODIs and 16 T20Is are coming from. Unless they're including Asia Cup and World Cup for the T20I tally. Still no idea about the 8 ODIs though.

Seems they must have arranged some series' that weren't originally in the FTP. Good news though.

I realized I didn't account for the postponed series in SA. That adds 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is to the tally. PCB must've arranged a 5 match ODI series with somebody.

To line them up

2 tests and 3 T20Is in Jan-Feb vs SA in Pakistan
3 ODI and 3 T20Is in Apr Vs SA in SA ( postponed series)
2 tests and 3 T20Is vs Zim in Apr-May in Zim
3 ODIs and 3 T20Is vs Eng in July in Eng
3 tests and 3 T20Is vs WI in Aug in WI
3 ODIs vs Afg in Sep in UAE
3 ODIs and 3 T20Is vs NZ in Sep-Oct in Pakistan

2 test and 3 T20Is vs BD in Nov in BD
3 ODIs and 3 T20Is vs WI in Dec in Pakistan

I think they’ll also play 3 ODIs and 2 T20Is vs Netherlands and Ireland postponed during 2020 in tour or England in June July
Also may be some series in between although all looked jam pack

Missed Asia cup in June as well

two are against zim tho, pretty pointless and only increase risk of injury to premier players in such a busy season.

pak wont get a lot of series against the big three apart from ENG, have to arrange more regular tours with WI, SL and SA and NZ.

Mate I would take those two Tests as an opportunity to inflate some stats and use them to our advantage for debates...

You are right. We are only basically getting Tests from England and Australia out of the big 3. Ideally the England series can become a 4 Tests away and 3 Tests at home affair. We need to play Australia more than 2 Tests at home as well. That’s a joke, not fun beating them 2-0 when we could beat them 3-0 and justify our poor away performances

So Pakistan is touring England again this summer? This is sixth straight summer that Pakistan will be in England. I think PCB should have negotiated with ECB for a test tour in return rather than just 2 T20s that England will play in Pakistan.

39 T20s in a year and add to that may be 7-8 more in Asia Cup & WC + 10-12 games PSL. No prize for guessing what is the prime focus of PAK cricket.

I hope it brings better luck in future ........

One test (home) against Bangladesh was postponed due to covid19. When will that test be played.

That's an insane busy year! Is the PSL still scheduled for Feb?

Should be fun for PCT fans

Pakistan have really packed schedule. PCB should build separate teams for LOIs and separate for test. That way player’s burden would be managed appropriately or else some players would be susceptible to injuries and/or burnout. One thing I really like about PCB is that they never get into 5 or even 4 test match series. 3 test match series is ideal along with 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is.

Pakistani fans will finally get to see their heroes play against good teams at home.

We have lost a test against them under Misbah. I won't be so sure.

I would love a 5 match test series vs england tho, Pakistan vs England test cricket is a lot of fun!

Lol the way u appointed Misbah for head coach and Chief selector shows how professional the board is..

The board says Misbah was let to coach PSL team ISLU citing reasons as he will have experience coaching a side... :rp
