This time around both teams boast a number of genuine fast bowlers while Archer and Markwood will be bowling at searing pace for England, Pakistan has 6 bowlers who fall in genuine fast category. In my opinion Markwood will bowl fastest ball of the tour but in terms of average speed Naseem Shah will be the quickest.
What are your thoughts?

Agreed

In terms of sheer pace, I'm most excited for Husnain in the T20's. He can sustain speed's in mid 90's mph range for an entire spell

In order of highest pace they will end up hitting:

1. Wood
2. Naseem
3. Rauf
4. Archer
5. Hasnain
6. Shaheen

Tests would be Naseem vs Wood(if he plays), otherwise the Pakistani should be quickest overall.. Archer stayed in the mid 80s last series barring the odd bouncer touching 90.
Husnain should join the party in T20s. Hes been clocked at 95 before.

Hasnain has already bowled 155ks I m sure he will cross 150ks mark haris has also bowled 152 ks he can be a contender also.Even Musa can bowl 150ks but in terms of average pace Naseem is gonna be the fastest. He is already the fsstest pacer in Asia.

Yah, hes most probably going to be the fastest when it comes to average speed...tho Husnain would be my pick for the fastest ball.
Shaheen wasnt too shabby pace wise in the PSL.. Consistently 145 - 150...tho its highly unlikely hell be able to maintain that in test matches.

Yeah he bowled fast and he became real fast bowler during the PSL.if he plays t20is he will touch 150ks. Yeah it's difficult to maintain those speeds in tests but he will do fine speed wise I guess.

Yeah I agree, Wood may have the highest max speed, but Naseem will easily have the highest average speed and that's more important.

No speeds on ICC but I saw Archer get to 88mph

88mph from Archer again to Babar after he hit for a four :)

Looks like only one contest when it comes to speed in this test with naseem winning it hands down

His fastest has been 142ks I think.Naseem will probably bowl 147ks and on average he will be much faster than jofra.

73.3 A brute of a short one at 143km/h, to Shan Masood by Archer.

Naseem first over today (mph):

84
86
89
89
90
89

Naseem consistently 87-89 mph in his first 2 overs this morning.

Naseem constantly hitting that 89mph into his 3rd over

Naseem hits Woakes on the head with an 89 mph bouncer.

Naseem constantly hitting that 89mph into his 3rd over

That’s pretty fast but also makes you appreciate how quick Shoaib Akhtar was to have spells where he regularly clocked over 150kph multiple times an over.

These days you see someone clock at 150 once in a while.

And yes before someone comes along to remind us, I agree that pace is not everything but we are allowed to talk just about pace sometimes aren’t we ? :)

Im sure he can go quicker.. Hes really focusing on just getting the length right at the moment

Naseem is bowling well , but it almost looks like he’s been told to focus on line and length — you need to use this guy like a weapon and let him bowl 3 or 4 overs burst at 92-93mph range to give some bite to the attack.

Been a little underwhelmed by Naseem's pace. Not sure if its the lack of match practice, change in bowling priorities, the duke ball, or something else. But he really hasn't gotten over 90mph much

Big engines need time to warm up properly. And Neseem is one of the bigger ones.

Naseem consistently between 86-88mph after his first over.

Am I mistaken or was Naseem Shah actually getting upto 92/93mph range on the Australian tour?

Understand he’s only 17 and will probably get a bit quicker in a couple of years - but I’m not convinced with hype about someone having ‘genuine’ pace if they only clock at 90mph once a test match and mostly in 86/87mph range. That was my view when Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra huffed and puffed themselves to clock at 86/87mph and it’s still my view.

Genuine pace is what you think of with fast bowlers who bowl spells where they rip it at 90-93mph range consistently ( with some like Shoaib, Lee, Tait, pre-94 Waqar getting into 95mph + range even)

He did touch 148kph in Australia and was usually around 140-145ish.

Well naseem is famous for his high average speed ,even in this match his average speed in first innings
was 88mph and he bowled many deliveries at 89mph and 90mph , remember that in same innings peak speed of archer and shaheen was 89 mph and 88mph respectively

Naseem cranking it up now, consistently hitting the 89mph mark.

89mph, the fastest thus far from Naseem. Average around 87-88mph

Exciting , this lad has some serious pace apparently. It’s only now that I realise so too did Javagal Srinath and Ajit Agarkar back in the 1990s.

Haris Rauf hitting 90mph in his first over today.

Harris bowling at 90 were naseem bowled 88 throw out his spells in test match

Husnain is faster I belive but top speeds by rauf
Yah, Husnain has a pretty good effort ball. Hes been clocked at 155 kmh a couple of times now, tho his average pace is around the same as Rauf i believe.

The ball by Rauf to get out Banton was 92.2 mph...Rauf needs more experience and he'll be great..needs to cut out them short deliveries

Hes great but to sustain this in test matches is a real challenge.

No bowler bowls at his peak speed in tests for long periods. Almost every pacer operates at one gear below the top. Great ones know whet to shift to that top gear.

I think if he bowls at the the stumps he will be lethal due to his speed but am soon as he gives width down alongside and offside he will get hit

Only 1 or 2 bowlers can consistanly bowl at 90 pluss in tests regularly shaheen average speed in tests is about 85 which is good enough
