He has smooth action and also getting fair bounce
 
134 kph is decent but we expected more

Has a good action, so should be able to add 5-10 kph in pace in few years

Ehsan was around 125-130 in 2012 WC and is now arond 135-140 so these guys can easily add pace if they work hard.
 
His size makes him prone to injury. Don't think he will be any quicker.
 
Disapointed. So we have no real pace bowlers coming through. Damn
 
Has potential..good height,decent action,uses his brain a little and bit of agression. Give him the right treatment and guidance can b a good cricketer.

Still he is genuine 16 years 364 days old without any doubt so I won't be surprised if this FATA boy becomes 145+ kph bowler after 3,4 years.

He is broad and tall but he is merely 17 so his muscles do not generate that energy plus he got injured thrice with layoffs of months so that doesn't help either.

When you get serious injuries at a young age with long layoffs than it requires sometime to rediscover the lost pace.

two back stress fractures cost waqar quite a bit of pace

Cannot say much about him tbh, looks like a line and length kinda bowler.

Its ok, we will find someone else InshAllah soon

At this stage I am much, much more interested in Hasan Mohsin.

Mohsin is clearly only bowling at around 120K, but he looks like he is good enough to bat at around number 4 or 5 at this level.

That raises the prospect of him batting at number 6 in Tests and trundling 10 overs per day like Mitchell Marsh or Shane Watson.

That could be hugely useful for Pakistan. In Asia he could be the second pace bowler with three spinners and outside Asia he could be the fourth seamer who allows better, faster bowlers to stay fresh and quick.

I think he needs a bit of work on the kink in his action. It's smooth, but his elbow is bent.
 
Not quick even for his age really...Alzarri Joseph was bowling 140+ yesterday.

Hasan Mohson was a leg break bowler upto last year and it was just mid last year that he switched to medium fast bowling.Hence, his action is under developed.So,I think the more he plays the more he will get stronger and who knows might add another 5-7 Ks and I believe that should suffice for the role you are talking about.

Gul is very young and very raw but very talented. Has a good built, good delivery action but run up needs lots of improvement. Needs many years of FC cricket before thinking about playing for A team or beyond. He is turning 17 today ?

on second thought
Well, if he adds 7 to 10 kph more in his pace then he can be a good line and length bowler. Throughout his u19 matches his economy in odis has been under 4 mostly and he has taken 2 to 3 wickets......... he might not be that bad then

though i wanted him to be express fast. Nevermind.....still a great find
 
I think two years ago at last U-19 Rabada was bowling at 85mph and now 90mph so certainly possible he can add 10kph
 
TBH I quiet like him ,even though the speed gun shows him bowling in early 130s but the batsmen looked quiet hurried when he bowls to them , a bit like Amir trait. Wish he can add 10kph then he will be deadly because already getting some movement on dead surfaces

I liked these things about him

* Smooth action
* Quite tall
* Bounce
* Seam movement

If he is genuinely around 17, he should be able to add 5-10 kph easily and turn into a 140kph bowler by the time his body matures
 
If someone is bowling at 130 to 133kph at 17, it DOES NOT mean that he'll somehow add 10kph by 22 and start bowling at 140 plus.

Please.

If this is his best, and not due to injury as some claimed, then he won't become a fast bowler. Will stay an Ehsan or Zia ul haq like trundler.

Well obviously it is not a must thing that he will gain 5-10 kph. But if he works hard on his fitness and action he surely can. Even ehsan has gained 5-7 kph in his pace from his U19 days.

Obviously he can go other way around like Zia who was 138-140 in 2012 U19 WC and was bowling 130-135 kph in 2014.

Bottom line is that his pace is decent if not special for his age and he has some other attributes like a very nice action and extracts bounce.

He may not be a special talent but atleast someone to look forward to in coming years

I was excited based on a few hype reports here, but not anymore.

He won't become a world class bowling prospect, unless you're telling me he can swing and seam it massively.

Ehsan can't bowl at even 135kph sustainably. Injures himself whenever he tries to bowl 135. That's one of the reasons why he's so fragile and always unfit.

Someon said Sameen has got injured twice in the past year. That's not good news either.

Ehsan was 125 and there about in 2012 WC, now he can bowl 135 kph with ease he has gained pace and you know if you followed him from his U19 days. He's not a bad bowler and if his fitness improves he can become regular member of PAkistan test team. He has got the skills to succeed in Internationals, its not fair to write him off based on few tests played with lot of gap in between.
 
He was our main hope in WC wrt fast bowling.

He failed to deliver in whole tournament.

# Big Gun Could not deliver.
 
He doesn't hit the pitch hard enough and hence fails to extract anything out of it. With the new ball he gets little movement away from left handers but with his physique and height he should be getting a lot of purchase out of the pitch they he does.

Needs to improve his bowling massively.

What we're the selectors doing by selecting only 1 genuine seamer ?

In a squad of 16 you should have atleast 3 seam up bowlers. (Excluding allrounders & pseudoallrounders)

Human body developes till age of 18 years, after that development is very slow til 24.

If he really is 17 then after two years he should be faster and probably a better fast bowler.

What do you say?

Well we can just hope . We want hitting the 138-140kph mark for which he was known 12 months ago before 2 injuries.

You should not take it to heart if he does not come out as promising as people thought he was. There is so much Tailunt in pakistan...we will unearth someoneelse, inshAllah,

besides Kaptaan has that fast bowling talent hunt program coming up, we might just find another gem :D

Kaptaan's subordinate Wasim found a talent from Jacobabad sindh in a talent hunt. That talent has left cricket :)
 
Though Arfan Liaqat was more impressive than Sameen Gul in world cup wrt fitness, speed & skillset but


It's baffling for me that a boy who has been under NCA wings since the age of 15 was not even given a single over.


No coach had the Jurratt to send message to Younis that number 11 batsman is a bowler so give him ball.

Was Sameen in the ground fulfilling his fielding duties?

If not then he may have been injured and that is why team man mr. stability did not bowl him.

Lol there was some guy who made a thread saying Younis has picked a young squad and will give chance to youngsters.

The U-19 player didn't even get to bowl an over smh :facepalm:

he bowed well in few matches....further he batted well in few u19 games...batted well in last pakistan cup match while chasing

though got hit for six by a no 10 batter via reverse sweep
 
Bowlers like Wahab were medium pacers back in the day, doesn't mean that Sameen can increase pace now can't he.

His action is not gud..he will never b in control of his line and length

HBL dismissed for 139 in their first innings at Multan Cricket Stadium.
 
I saw him in the under 19 World Cup and he seemed to have a small frame
 
That's pretty good actually, considering Mir Hamza and Ehsan Adil are also bowling but have got only 1 wickets a piece in similar amount of overs.

Another interesting thing to note is that Usman Khan Shinwari is also back into bowling action playing for Habib Bank, and getting some decent returns.
 
Good height and form in his action. Better than some of the nonsense I have seen lately in domestics. Bit on the slow side however...

No lol, he's pretty well built. Must have mistaken him for Hasan Mohsin, the allrounder, who's pretty skinny.
 
First Tenfer in Fc Cricket for Sameen at a very young age.

17 years & 278 days ago.


Hope he strengthens his back muscles and is able to revive his Pace.


At 15 he was the Fastest Pakistan Under 17 & Under 19 Team where he used to hit 140-142 kph mark.


Injuries did not help.
