Wasn't the winner of Wasim' camp, Bilal Shah eligible for this? If so then surprised he's not picked.

Have heard good things about Sameen.

Was in Wasims camp as well right? Anyone seen him bowl?

Zeeshan Malik is tremendous talent.

We have heard this statement a million times and when these wonder boys are put into international cricket or even FC cricket they flounder like there is no tomorrow..

Don't worry, mine picks won't disappoint you ;)

Which U19 player has "floundered like no tomorrow" in international cricket ?

One of the Lahore players scored a FC hundred and he is aged 17 but isn't picked, why have they picked guys that have struggled at the U 19 level but overlooked a player with a FC 100.

Any good fast bowler in the list?

Wasn't the winner of Wasim' camp, Bilal Shah eligible for this? If so then surprised he's not picked.

Well bilal shah was the best bowler in wasim's camp however according to posters here that sameen gul at 16(real age) is clocking 140+.
So pakistan u19 went to srilanka where we got thrashed. Bilal Shah's performance was average so he was dropped after a few matches but in onedays this sameen gul guy was taking 2 to 3 wickets in every match against a tougher opposition.

So he is one genuine fast bowler in this team. Only time will tell how good he really is but till now he has been very impressive

Good to see Hassan Khan managed to Wc squad.. I hv seen him batting.. He z big hitter and very good Off spinner.

I think there's one India u19 vs Pakistan u19 practice game.. Should be fun

Well this pak u 19 is the weakest that I have heard of. Imagine lanka whitewashing us in odis.
india u 19 as always good; and this pak u 19 no match for the young Indians

Batting looks awfully weak. The only batsman of substance, Sajawal Riaz, has been excluded. Zeeshan Malik is far inferior than the likes of Sami Aslam, Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq, Saud Shakeel at this level. For the first time in the recent history of U19 cricket, we are entering this competition as underdogs.

Players to look out for :

1. Zeeshan Malik
2. Ahmad Shafique
3. Umair Masood
4. Sameen Gul
5. Muhammad Umar Burqi

Bilal Shah and Ahmed Safi Abdullah should have been in the squad in place of newbies. Ahmed Safi Abdullah is a legspinner who plays for SSGC. He has played 6 Fc games taking 20 wickets at an Ave of 21 and a SR of 35.

Are they fearing random Wrist tests at Worldcup ? ;-) ;-)

Sajawal Riaz has an awful technique . Thanks God we got rid of him. Zeeshan Malik is future pakistan opener. Mark it. He is your best batsman. If he fires we will reach semifinals atleast.

This Arsal Sheikh from islamabad sounds fishy. Major who is he ?

Malik an utter failure in lanka.
Hassan Khan much better. More of an allrounder

Taking out Ahmed Shafique from my list I mixed him with Abdullah Shafique of sialkot who should have been selected.

It would be a miracle if anyone from the current lot (batting) plays for Pakistan. Sajawal Riaz was not a world beater, but was pretty consistent the last time I checked, and consistency is a trait that was necessary given our sub-150 scores in recent times. Explosive batsmen like Zeeshan Malik are good to add an extra touch when your middle order is performing consistently. I am not against Zeeshan's selection, but the fact that he is the best of this U19 lot says a lot about U19 selection. The fact that we have lost to Sri lanka and Afghanistan is appalling.

Zeeshan's scores in lanka 0,9,55,4,0,24

From your list only Masood is a decent talent. In my opinion Shadab the leggie is good too

I know he failed in srilanka. I have seen him bat live. He is quality.

Also in domestic inter region under 19 odi tournament he scored 4 tons. Remember inter region is played by 18 regions of pakistan. Among 288 players he was the highest run getter with 582 runs in 8 ganes at an Ave of 72 and SR of 108. Nobody scored more centuries than him and the second best was 2 centuries by Abdullah Shafique of sialkot who isn't in the worldcup squad which baffles me.

Zeeshan Malik is the best batsman in pakistan at under 19 levels. And not just stats he is a dynamic player with a vast short range.

There is a spelling error by PCB. Pakistan captain is not Gohar hafeez it's Gauhar Hafeez. Both are separate individuals.

Interestingly. Pakistan captain Gauhar Hafeez has not yet played for Pakistan under 19 team. He was captain of Pakistan under 17 team which toured England.

So in tri series Gauhar Hafeez will debut for Pakistan Under 19 team both as a player and as a captain :-)

How he performed there???

How he performed there???

In two odis in England in 2014 he made 6 runs at an Ave of 3.
He did not bowl in those games.

Looks like second coming of Mike Brearly :-) ;-) just kidding. Hope and pray he scores lots of runs in worldcup and win many games for us as a player and captain both.

Came across hiz stats.. Not an extravagant . May selected purely on his leadership potential ;)
Let's hope he goezz n blossoms.

Always baffels me how the players under the age of 19 but playing first class cricket are not a part of the national U19 team but those who have no first class experience somehow make it to squad.

This means the standard of our u 19 ckt is low. Now the same lanka that thrashed us is being thrashed by the india u 19 at their own backyard

Good spot. He is Shakeel Sheikh's son. Confirmed by a friend who has played U19 cricket at domestic level.

One of the reasons, for that PAK U19 teams are not doing so well in last couple of years, may be PCB is trying to select players who are more or less genuine U19. I watched PAK U19 team winning 2004 WC Final from press box; that team had few stars - Khalid Latif, Riaz Afridi, Mansoor Amzad, Tariq Mahmood, Ali Imran Pasha, Asif Iqbal, Jahangir Iqbal, Fawad Alam, Julkarnine ... were part of that team & Subhan Allah, Khalid Latif was just about 19, rest all were 17-18, & few were as baby as 15-16 - some of those players are still active in Domestic style & they are just about 28-29 now; just like Iftekhar is 25, so is Jamshed.

Anyway, going by that experience & standard, I can safely say - a little bit of "Gunah" & Saud Shakeel, Usama Mir, Imran Butt, Md. Ashghar, Abid Ali, Hasan Ali, Ghulam Mudassar, Aamad Butt, even Sami Aslam could have toured Bangladesh for WC & that would have been almost certain a WC winning team. May be, hind side is not always bad...........

Didnt Pakistan perform splendidly at last WC?

There performance have been down only in last 6-7 months

I know; but 2 years back - the development curve between the age of 16 to 21 is exponential by year - it doesn't matter much between 23 to 29 or 35; but there is a channel width between 17, 18, 19 or 20 - by each year.

I think, you are mixing PAK U19 of 2012-14 period with after 2014 WC period - I said last couple of years.

So when is this tri-series taking place and who are the other teams? Thanks.

So, does anyone know if the ICC verifies ages of the players in a scientific manner?

I tagged you on twitter with his stats someone posted
If those are really his performances than it is really a bad selection.

I may not be at PP than.

Guys watch out for Hassan Mohsin and Hassan Khan.

Told you so.

You need to become a selector.

I think fayyaz needs to be given attention. He looks like a tall powerful stroke maker in yuvraj's mould. He can bowl too.

ghulam mudassar , sajawal riaz and bilal shah afridi are three guys who are missing and may lead to downfall of pakistan U-19

Sajawal is very mediocre batsman rightly dropped alhamdoulillah.

Bilal Shah & Ghulam Mudassar are not genuine under 19 hence not selected. Otherwise there was no way bilal shah would have been ignored at junior level when he also has got pace and is loved by all NCA staff & junior selectors.

Bro what is bone density test ?

Does ICC conduct random bone density tests ?

Salman Fayyaz lives in my society in Lahore. I've stopped playing cricket due to studies but he still plays in the ground and I played a lot with him in childhood.
He has grown up and is quite tall. His bowling is okay-ish (really isn't a leggie, just kumble sort of spin), but he can really improve on batting and turn out to be a good middle-order player due to proper technique.
Used to do a lot of practice with his Dad (who is probably a coach or an ex-domestic) since childhood and it's nice to see him reaping results.
