Started off well but guess met more than their match!

Can someone please let me know, can Pakistan still qualify for the Semi Final if they wins today’s match or they are out of the semi final race?

Thank you!

This is for 5th place play off ..They are out of the semis as lost in quarters.

Still no Faisal Akram. Faisal Akram should lodge a complain against Ijaz Ahmed

Absolutely disgraceful this ...Faisal should approach Ramiz or come and play in the PSL

Ijaz cannot be trustworthy like his brother-in-law Salim Malik. I hope we will loose today's match otherwise he may retain his place as a coach.

To be honest I think the only reason Faisal is not getting games is because the captain will be competing for the same spot in KK. Otherwise a captain can fight for a player if he has enough confidence in him to deliver. It just seems all too convenient for Qasim right now to leave Faisal out of the lineup. Everyone will blame the coach anyway.

in junior level a coach has more power than a captain.

I don't understand why U19 World Cup has these pointless games (5th place, 7th place, 9th place etc.). What's the point? These teams are already eliminated.

Not getting even a solitary game indicates there is definitely much more to it..

Haseebullah 62*

Also the 6 ft 10 guy not playing is absurd

Yeh that’s even more baffling.. how about choosing to bowl first against Aus when runs on board was the only way we cd hv beaten them. I really don’t understand the thought process behind these absurd decisions.

This lad Irfan Khan has no urgency at all in his batting.

Block, block, block and then attempt a big shot.

he played very good against Zimbabwe in the first game - throughout his whole innings - he didn't allow his strike rate go below 70%.

every game after this he has played poorly.

and pak wins, cant believe they didn't chase this by 38th over

Stumbled their way to victory today.

I like Haseebullah, Shehzad has some work to do but has some potential with the bat. Apart from that not much amongst the top 5 or 6.

It was a good day to bat second at the ICC Under 19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, with all three chasing sides coming out on top.

Haseebullah Khan’s half-century helped Pakistan seal their place in the 5th place play-off at Bangladesh’s expense, despite a fine ton from Ariful Islam.

United Arab Emirates were convincing eight-wicket winners in the Plate final, Punya Mehra hitting the winning runs with 24 overs to spare against Ireland, while West Indies defeated Zimbabwe by the same margin.

A century stand between the Bennett twins, David and Brian, gave Zimbabwe hope but centuries from Teddy Bishop and Kevin Wickham saw the hosts secure 11th spot.

Islam ton in vain as Pakistan beat Bangladesh

Pakistan booked their place in the 5th place play-off with a six-wicket victory over Bangladesh in Antigua and Barbuda.

Bangladesh’s innings was dominated by Ariful Islam, who arrived at the crease in the 12th over with his side on 23 for three and set about guiding them to a competitive total.

Islam had fallen for single figure scores in his two previous innings at this tournament but quickly found his groove here and brought up his half-century with a glorious six over long-on.

The 17-year-old continued to lose partners – Mehran Mumtaz proving particularly potent with three for 16 from his 10 overs – but kept his composure and accelerated at the death, striking three sixes in one
Awais Ali over to move into the nineties.

His century, from 118 balls, arrived midway through the 49th over but Islam fell to the next delivery – the ninth wicket to fall in an innings which was ended on 175 with four balls remaining.
Muhammad Shehzad and Haseebullah Khan started confidently in reply, adding 76 in 19 overs before the former fell for 36.

Khan struck four fours and four sixes before picking out deep square leg on 78, by which time his side needed just 36 more for victory.

Irfan Khan (24) was unfortunate to be run out backing up and Qasim Akram fell for a single but Abdul Faseeh’s unbeaten 22 saw Pakistan home with 21 balls to spare.

Pakistan will now take on Sri Lanka in the 5th place play-off on Thursday, with Bangladesh to play South Africa for the right to finish seventh.

I like Ahmed Khan's bowling , won;t be an express bowler but very good swing bowler with very good wrist position and not shy to pitch the ball up. Very good run up and delivery action . Very young and very raw but has potential.

Because these payoffs will be used as rankings for next edition of U19 world cup. Top 8 or 12 will directly qualify for next world-cup while there may be some qualification matches to book remaining places.

Unlike Senior cricket there is no ranking system for U19 cricket and we also dont have enough u19 matched apart from Asia cup or world cup to tank teams. This makes these matches important for their future teams.

Since New Zealand has not participated in this World Cup, I am wondering if they will be allowed a direct entry in Next World Cup

Just read somewhere top 11 will directly qualify for next U19 world cup and 5 Teams will be selected from U-19 world Cup Qualifiers. One each from Asia, Europe, Africa, America and East Asia Pacific.

why was maaz sadaqat shunted down to 7 8 when he opened in the recent asia cup?

Half the players won't be playing next u19s World cup so it's pointless

Pakistan's away jersey (the one they used against BD U19) is pretty nice. I think it looks better than their main jersey.

Becouse Ijaz Ahmed is clueless.

Ijaz Ahmed has been the coach of u19 since 2010 or longer if i remember correctly.

Even Younis Khan would have been better in the role.

No coach should stay for more than 5 years. That's the shelf life of coaches with a particular team.

That is a long time I wonder what he has achieved since 2010 for him not to be sacked.
