We go to the final game with the series level but more worryingly for Pakistan, none the wiser when playing spin at home!

So, who goes out, who comes in - what changes to strategy is needed?

Why is there no keeper available to replace Rizwan?

We need to fly in Azam Khan from Dhaka to save Pakistan from disgrace. Or perhaps call Sarfraz Ahmed from the other side of Karachi.

Most of the time NZ win matches because of their ability to assess conditions and adapt to it intra matches. They are easily the best side when it comes to knowing who to play and how to play on certain pitches.

Remember when NZ dropped both Southee and Boult from the starting lineup against India in the 2016 T20 World Cup. Hammered India by spin in that match.

Similarly here also they assessed that the reason they lost the 1st ODI was because they didn't have more spin options to put pressure on Pakistan as the ball was turning more and at pace at night. So they rightly dropped Shipley.

Will Pakistan have the brains to understand that they don't need 3 fast bowlers on this track? I doubt it. If Pakistan wins the toss, they might bat first but then still play 3 fast bowlers. Williamson brought Phillips into the attack once he saw Pakistan looking clueless against spin. Babar never brought on Haris Sohail despite NZ also looking clueless and instead fed them with Haris Rauf.

There wasn’t any for Sarfraz after flopping for 2 years. Let’s not forget rizwan played a match winning innings just last match.

Even if we want to try a new keeper, we should try someone new. Sarfraz has always been average behind the stumps and with age he has gotten worse. Maybe worthwhile to have a look at Haseeb Ullah Khan before the world cup. The kid is averaging above 50 with a strike rate of 93 in domestics. Otherwise, we should stick with Rizwan.

Haseebullah is very average. He’s not the answer. Can’t play pace. Doesn’t get in line. He won’t survive at international currently with his technique.

I would like to see some changes.Agha isn't good enough as a 6th bowling option.Haris/fakhar can bowl them 3 overs that Agha bowls.

Imaam Ul Haq
Fakhar Zaman
Babar Azam
Tayyab Tahir
Haris Sohail
Rizwan
Nawaz
Usama Mir
Rauf
Naseem
Dahani

Why would you drop Salman Agha to accommodate Tayyab Tahir? It was between Haris and Tayyab and Haris got the nod so unfortunately Tayyab might have to wait a bit now.

This one size fits all approach will bite Pakistan in the long run. They rely heavily on top 2. Where are the Darry Mitchells, Mahmadullahs, In the last 2 years Pakistan has one of the worst no.4-7 performance in terms of averages. Top order has to take a bit more risk and put middle order under pressure in bilaterals. If you are oging to use bilateral for stat padding that will be counter productive in world cup. Once again Pakistan will have to rely on bowlers to bail them out.

Because he's not good enough to bowl 6 decent overs and Tayyab can play pace decently well whilst they both good players of spin.

True!! Finally someone wrote it with proof.. In 2019 CWC 4 - 7 was Hafeez, Haris, Sarfraz, Imad

Misbah dropped Haris and Sarfraz to bring in Rizwan and the KIA boys , Danish Aziz etc.. Haider Ali another youngster who was spoiled to play from no. 1- 6 eventually turned into a slogger..

Under Misbah 4 -7 was Rizwan, Ifthikar, Khusdil/Asif Ali/Danish Aziz (in rotation), Nawaz.
Also why Misbah and Waqar are a failure as a leader in LOIs especially , cannot build a team

So in the last 2 years the middle order was non-existent as they had the fascination for bits and pieces..

Khusdil
Asif Ali
Ifthikar Ahmed
Danish Aziz
Haider Ali
Saud Shakeel
Nawaz
Shadab Khan
And the keeper himself Rizwan

He is work in progress and may take few seasons to sort out technical issues. I certainly hope PCB groom him and maybe include him in future A-Team tours.

Except Babar Azam, everyone else has technical flaws. We need a proper batsman for middle order. Test Kamran Ghulam and Tayyab Tahir.

NZC chief executive David White talks about his experience in Pakistan and the feedback he has received from the players

Great, full marks to PCB in this regard.

Wasim J or Haris Rauf should be rested and Hasnain tried, other than no other change needed. I Would like to see Kamran G to be given chance but atm no place for him.

Hopefully we will have a flat wicket to suit Pakistan, with series on line we should not have high hopes, Pakistan have lost countless series decider from Karachi to Rose Bowl to Centurion to Emirates

Thank you for this table.
MenInG can you please add it into the thread about taking the game deep.
Surely it tells us all we need to know about how and why Pakistan and Babar go about things as they do!!!

Is there going to be a fresh pitch?

Doubt Pakistan will end up changing their XI or trying giving a player like Kamran or Tayyab a debut with the series on the line.
