Pakistan v South Africa | Edgbaston | June 10, 2013 | South Africa Innings

Here we go boys
Toss, 12.30pm: South Africa have won the toss and they are batting first. One change for Pakistan - Asad Shafiq goes out, Umar Amin comes in. Two changes for South Africa - Chris Morris debuts replacing Morne Morkel (which we anyway knew), Aaron Phangiso replaces Rory Kleinveldt. No Dale Steyn.

Pakistan team
Imran Farhat, Nasir Jamshed, Mohammad Hafeez, Umar Amin, Misbah-ul-Haq*, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal†, Saeed Ajmal, Wahab Riaz, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Irfan

South Africa team
HM Amla, CA Ingram, F du Plessis, AB de Villiers*†, JP Duminy, DA Miller, R McLaren, RJ Peterson, CH Morris, AM Phangiso, LL Tsotsobe

Good to see Umar Amin in today.. but we have to bowl well in order to restrict Saf under 200

A little worried about Phangiso he is a left arm spinner and we usually don't play them well saying that they already got Peterson

Good to see Umar Amin play today, but I hoped Farhat missed out. Anyways good Luck Pakistan!

Could be a good toss to lose due to the cloud but will be a tough chase on a wicket which will get slower. Must target Phangiso.

SA score 250+ which they might just do then we're in real trouble :(

To be honest, they can't drop FArhat.

He has been averaging good, barring a rare failure.

But I agree, he has no right to be in the side after 10 years fo failures.

Things going SA's way. playing two spinners, have won the toss, put runs on the board on a slow pitch and then choke the opposition with two (three including Duminy) spinners.

Must restrict them around 220.

I'm worried about chasing under the lights. There is some cloud cover so we need to use it fully. Bowl them out for as cheap as possible.

Imran Farhat performed against SA in the warm up.

Asad shafiq did nothing in the warm up or against west indies. Why is it surprising that he's playing?

Time for Pakistan to wake up in the tournament!

don't agree with leaving out Shafiq. He has more experience against the SA. Umar Amin won't last 5 overs against them...what a terrible way to make a comeback :talha

What about Malik, how much does he average in last one year!

Umar Amin should have replaced either Malik/Farhat, not Shafiq.

We won't be chasing under lights out chase will begin around 5.30ish and gets dark around 9.30

Happy for Amin i hope he plays well today.. but at the start we need to bowl really well and restrict saf under 200 as anything above 200 will be v difficult for our fragile batting line up.. but i hope our batsmen will stand up today..!

Have to restrict them under or around 200 if we want to win this the ball might swing under lights.

Big call on the other hand to drop Shafiq.

That just tells youngsters, if they fail a couple of times they will get thrown out.

And players like Malik will not be thrown out no matter how many failures.

This is height of injustice.

How do you develop new talent without giving them adequate chances?

Well thats a good news cuz Pakistan and chasing under lights never go together.

Changes:

SA - Phangiso in for Klienveldt, Morris in for Morkel
Pak - Amin in for Shafiq

Seems like many people have overlooked this but clearly it won't be dark till very late into our chase and at that stage both balls will be old and shouldn't make a difference with lights.

asad should have been kept.... malik or farhat should have been on the chopping block.

Taken off for today game tired watching them on streams, Pakistan on roll dropping shafiq and retaining Malik

losing badly wouldn't be the worst thing for Pakistan cricket if we can get rid of extra baggage, come on in this
day and age when Air lines are getting so strict can pak take a cue..

SA will choke. Crowd will hopefully be will into it again.

Can't understand the logic of dropping Asad and retaining Farhat and Malik, especially as Kamran can open.

As crap as Farhat is he will do a better job than Kamran at opening and Shafiq just like the two you mentioned have all done nothing so I guess seniority comes into it but Shafiq has looked as bad as anyone.

I have a feeling twilight time would be more dangerous. I remember in 2010 Odi series, Gul seamed the ball alarmingly during the 3rd and 4th Odis at that time.

With the recent cold weather, a drop in the temperature late in the afternoon could cause the the pitch to misbehave. That said it could result in the moisture saturating the ball.

I agree that Shafiq isn't a first pick but he has more to his game than the other two.

It's no coincidence that Malik has only scored when the going has been good since his comeback. And that's with the very little he has scored.

I only made the point of Kamran opening, as a counter to the management thinking they couldn't drop an opener.

PP boys, what's the mood like today? :afridi:

Are we going to win today and have some fun? :yk

Why does Wasim always reading everything off the screen every 15 minutes? Literally everything!

Huge game for Amin. About time he comes good in int'l cricket. Such a great talent.

I will be back during half time report :raja

Don't have the patience to sit through here at work... Inshallah jeete ga Pakistan :misbah

Are they gonna play like Bell & Trott did before 2 days on same pitch?
