I know imran was not bowling fast back in 1992 and commentator was just kidding. Btw he bowled in many matches just in few he played as pure batsman. His overs were covered by ijaz at times.

OOPs! You are right. He had not bowled in the earlier matches (against West Indies and Zimbabwe) and till now I was under the impression that he did not bowl in other matches as well. I did not get to watch this world cup much on TV. On checking up, I find that he bowled in other matches though.
