What's new

Pakistan v West Indies | 3rd Test | Sharjah | Oct 30-Nov 3, 2016 | Day 3

Barring a collapse from either side, I can't see anything other than a draw here.

Tuk tuk tuk and torture end!!!! Really disappointed with Sami Aslam. He was a fluent player now becoming another Shehzad if not worse.

The Azhar- Sami combo doesn't cut it in UAE Tests, we need a more dynamic partner for Azhar. Perhaps Babar or if we are willing to take the risk and go left field, Sharjeel.

Sami is putting the handbrakes on an already lethargic lineup.

2 down for -15. WI should be really fancying a win here.

I have no idea why they go into this utter defensive mindset!! Top teams don't do that!! they assert htemselves . .t aht doesn't mean go and hit sixes and fours . . it means rotate strike and move hte game forwrad . .

Actually, this is the worst type of wicket that you can get to play Test - survival is not difficult here; even No. 9, 10 can block for an hour; but whenever batsman tries to increase the scoring rate, wicket will go down. I was actually watching the SRL-ZIM Test, just for the quality of wicket.

Sami is not a good opener, should bat at number 4/5... he is too slow.

PAK is digging own hole - since tea, 7 overs, 2/8. I was really impressed in Dhaka Test, when our openers counter attacked on a difficult wicket, facing deficit; here PAK is falling in to own trap. 2nd pair for Asad.

Shafiq is not made for no. 3. Should play no. 6 where he belong

Sami has very few shots both to spinners and pacers. He will be quickly found out in NZ and Aus when he goes for a release shot which is not natural to him. Sharjeel might not be the answer but I can understand why he was selected.

This experiment needs to end . . Since they are not taking any other opener to NZ, give Sharjeel a go with Sami at the top and drop Azhar back to 3 and Asad to 6 . . Go the old fashioned way .. this hasn't worked and we can't go in with a half baked strategy to NZ and Aus.

Sami Aslam is such a boring batsman, and Asad Shafiq is not cut for the number 3 position. I hope Haris Sohail gets fit soon, and replaces him at 3. Babar Azam should be groomed as an opener in Test cricket.

lool told you guys yesterday if WI could put up 300 odd runs they will have a decent chance of winning this test. Pakistan's batting were put under pressure first time and they failed.

Half of our lineup back in the pavilion, only Misbah and Sarfaraz to go loool

to be really honest there is no excitement in the current test team barring Yasir Shah or some Amir bowling. no wonder we don't see enough activity in this thread.

lool why would they play a dashing opener in tests? Misbah would more likely to bring another opener player who can play six maidens on trott than Sharjeel.

There is no other opener thats going to NZ! So it will either be the same setup or Sharjeel . .

They won 2 tests in England with the same team and 2 here..stop complaining about the players and the tactics..

Pakistan are such a dull team to watch when batting, too many accumulators and players who go into a shell. Adding Sharjeel into the mix may not be such a Bad idea.

Welp.

Congrats to the Windies on avoiding a whitewash.

But they are doing pretty well..doesn't matter what brand of cricket you are playing as long as you are winning..

Very defensive mindset has put us into trouble, yet again. These two should launch a counter attack, we need some quick 100 runs.

Not complaining but this is the West Indies and UAE is suppose to be out fortress, we shouldn't be losing a game to them.

I told you West Indies were favorites if they could take a 50 run lead. But expected much better from Pakistan stalwarts

Misbah with his usual finding lone man at the boundary shots under crisis.

This Test has really improved Babar Azam's chances of playing Tests Down Under!

Sarfraz and Nawaz will come to the rescue, I feel, Sarfraz's aggressive batting will take us out of trouble.

Only Pakistan has the ability to collapse on a road of a pitch. Remember Abu Dhabi against England?

true. Mostly likely Zulifqar goes an Baber comes in as an opener. Other team stays same. Azhar might bat at 3.

Sami, Azhar and Asad. Too much sameness in our Top 3. If one goes into a shell, the other doesn't pick up the scoring rate at all.

Misbah feels bad for not giving Nawaz enough overs with the ball so he's ordered the team to make sure Nawaz gets plenty of overs to bat. What a guy

it'll be good to see how this fake all rounder does the bat in this crunch times. He has been hiding for a while now. Always felt he was ordinary all rounder. Doesn't add anything to the test team.

Come on, don't call him fake, he is a decent all rounder, he will prove it today, clutch player.

Who are you talking about?

Most Test captains nowadays are lullos, hence the praise for BMac's brainless attack-at-all-costs strategy.

Bmac at times can be reckless at times but he was a great captain.

Did get carried away foolishly but that shouldn't cancel out how good he generally was.

5-4 is Pakistan and Holder has no slip, short leg, silly point and 3 fielders on the boundary. :P

Jason Holder makes Mushfiq look like the greatest captain in the world

WI were 68/4 and ended up making 337. All because they had Brathwaite applying himself and the rest of the batsmen willing to give support to him. We can do the same but I don't think our rest of the players have the patience and the temperament to stick together.

No, Babar should come in at nr.3 and Asad should move back to nr.6 where he was doing so well in the past.

How nice of Pakistan to inject a twist to a likely boring draw to give it an interesting climax in the last 2 days.

And then people say that Pak team doesn't care about the fans.

I think this is a good wake-up call for our team prior to the testing tours of NZ and Australia. And for Nawaz to make a name for himself.

Pak should be restricted to lead of less than 150. Then there will be a fight

One more wicket and they are into the tail. Really need a hundred partnership here.
That is unless Nawaz can do something about it. Looked extremely poor when batting since playing international cricket. Now is his chance to prove he can bat and that he deserves his place in the team.

Holder bowling better than amir... and bishoo better than yasir.... :)))

**Just for fun...**

Wow. We're looking all at sea against the short bowling in UAE. What's going to happen in Australia to these batsmen?

Gabriel really giving his all here.

Unfortunately he needs to mind the popping crease while bowling as well.

What do we have here? leatherface58

whats happening??? came back from class and four wickets down

Bishoo hasn't bowled at all this inns, so... jokes on you bud :)))

Oh dear common sense... why r u not common...
M talking about the overall game till now bro... yasir took 80/1 and bishoo 77/4.

And it was just for fun
