What's new

Pakistan v West Indies | 3rd Test | Sharjah | Oct 30-Nov 3, 2016 | Day 4

Really got to feel for Amir. So many catches being dropped off his bowling since his return. How demotivating it must be to be in a team with these lulloos.

People who say that these dropped catches aren't affecting him are lying to them selves.

They dont even look like they want to win....

Some of the cricket has been ridiculous

Yep....sometimes its just better to tune out.

But Pak still got a chance.

lol.

This is funny. Saw the wickets and that was comedic. But the first two overs of the bowling. hahahahahahaha.

Funniest thing that I have seen all week. I'm not even being sarcastic here. This is like those blooper videos that get played and you watch them while having a miserable day.

Pls Pakistan, continue with the laughter.

Misbah should take off Amir - he is boiling. May be he should come back after tea.

If WI win this, Pakistan would have been one Darren Bravo brain-**** away from losing this series 2-1. Had Bravo stuck around 20 mins longer when he got that ton, this would have been a WI series win.

Its not as easy as you are making it look.

There are so few chases in the world which get completed cos batsmen invariably make mistakes when they come close.

Even in Lara's legendary knock 153* (arguably the greatest ever)....when he came so close he gave a tame slip catch which was dropped. Then there was another edge which went iwhere there was no fielder.

That's why 4th innings chases of big scores with wickets falling down is so tricky. The more closer you get, the more you will make mistakes. Only exception is if team hasn't lost wickets and is cruising along.

Thank God we have a proper Test match pitch tomorrow to watch cricket. Enough of this UAE nonsense.

West indies deserves to win this one and I don't really mind it. It might ignite a fire in them as a test team.
WI are kinda everyone's second team. I've been following WI even during the dark days of when Devon Smith and Daren Ganga were opening ! So I don't mind them winning, its a dead rubber anyway.

They just need more consistency from the bowlers - they can't keep conceding huge 1st inns totals like they did in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Gabriel is lethal on his day but needs to stay fit and be more economical. Joseph and Cummins are raw but with the right coaching can be the new ball pair WI have been missing since Ambrose and Walsh.

Amir should just retire on the spot, now that crap excuse that "drop catches are part of game" even can't justify this shameless stuff by his team mates, it's seems more like "dropping catches of Amir bowling is part of plan" and it is the most suicidal plan ever made. Because it hurting Pak as much or more than it's hurting Amir. It's the worst way of teaching a lesson to Amir.

Can Pakistan do it?

This is as much a pressure situation as a skill situation for WI.

Logically you would say WI can chase this down with no problems but can they manage the pressure now that they KNOW they can win?

Don't think so - 2 catches dropped in 3 overs means PAK is defending 100 now. New ball had to strike before spinners & they spoiled it. Only hope is that it's WI.

Why is Wahab bowling? May be to take the shine off - it's probably better to give new ball to Zulfi than Wahab, who doesn't have the fundamentals of seem position.

Even Yasir has bowled well at times with the second new-ball.

Hurtling towards a defeat tonight, at this rate.

Congrats Inzi to select Nawaz in the test team along with Zulfi to put pressure on Yasir and Micky to put Safiq in no. 3

Last time West Indies won an overseas Test outside of Bangladesh was in Dec 2007 in Port Elizabeth vs South Africa.

When are they going to test MoHa's action - this was the ideal time, just when PAK is likely to lose a Test for lack of a batting all-rounder.

Thats when you miss a class bowler like ajmal.

Ajmal could have done nothing on this placid wicket with such a small total to defend.

Pakistan survived in first test after collapsing to Bishoo. They can't survive here any more. Poor batting on a flat track from no 2 team.

Yes we played bad

But guys in the end this is a dead rubber and even though it impacts ranking it really gives us a kick in the backside at the right time to open our eyes for NZ and Australia. Some of our fans forget about the accomplishments in a matter of a session sigh

You can only find these kind of lulluu catchers only in Pakistan team.Disgusting fielding, not worthy of even club cricket.

It's not a dead rubber - a loss will cost 3 points. Since the ranking started, there is no dead rubber.

I know but I am more interested n series wins....if this loss pushes us ton be better in NZ and Australia then it will be worth it

How much this has affected his average since his comeback. Unbelievable. Not that is the most important thing but still.

Just add a few wickets to his tally and divide it by the runs he has given.

Do it for each format.

And make sure you don't add the wickets of the bats he eventually dismissed after catches were dropped.

Whatever average comes now is the MINIMUM he would have averaged if the catches were taken. In reality, the actual average would be better bcos of bowlers bowling better with more wickets, lesser runs scored by batsmen whose catches were dropped, other bowlers chipping in due to pressure created, etc.

Rashid Latif said that he did an unofficial test in Pak, and 2-3 deliveries were illegal. Still some time to go for him.

This type of loss never pushes a team, rather it demoralizes. Losing a hard fought battle is one thing, that toughens you mentally; losing such shallow way actually damages confidence. From YK in 1st innings to Amir in 2nd innings, at least 15 wickets went down to shallow cricket - then Misbah's pathetic Captaincy to allow WI to 337 from 68/4 on this wicket & out field, finally two sitter drops - it's can be vulgar than this.

Forget coaching.

The way Nawaz is playing, they should play Azhar Mahmood Down Under and bat him at 7!

Pak are 1 wicket away from a major WI collapse.

WI batsmen are hopeless. I cannot believe how poor Pak has been in this series.

This is the same WI team that got shut out by Infian attack on their own pitches for less than 200 consistently.

Which means, when he comes back he won't be better than Asad with ball, but it will take another year for PAK to realize that. Action was part of his bowling skills, I explained in another post, when he was banned 1st time. With a revised action, MoHa might not be even as good as Babar or Asad.

Boss, you were spell bound to play him over Yasir - I guess now, Azhar Mahmood should replace Yasir, Logical though - on green top, pink ball, Azhar is a medium pacer. I guess, Nawaz won't finish a Test career with 38 average with bat.

From a statistical point of view it is valid to count those batsmen twice to get the correct average. Simply think of it as a new batsman arrived at the crease and continued playing.

That's pure stats though. Then we go by the assumption a team plays with 12, 13, 14 or more batsman.

Better to not add them and get the minimum average.

What a turnaround we have here..

In Pakistan's favour, if there is one team that can lose from this position apart from Pakistan themselves, it's the team they are bowling to atm.

Now, I think time for Zulfi - someone to bowl a 12-7-7-0 spell here. If he fails to hold one end, there is absolutely no reason to play him. That will prove PAK actually is playing with 9 players.

once again Yasir Shah coming to rescue Misbah and this test team.

Bravo is so frustrating. Should be averaging at least 45 with his talent but will probably end up averaging less than 40 due to not being consistent enough.

Samuels should retire from Tests if he doesn't get runs in this innings.

Brathwaite will be the mainstay of West Indies' batting in the next 10 years.

nice prediction as always spot on. Can he deliver let's see?

He is out of the next squad ... So no motivation for him.

Yasir has opened the door for Pakistan. Now others need to take some wickets too.

Better to not add them and get the minimum average.

Every time a bowler bowls a ball, there is a certain probability that the batsman will score a certain number of runs another probability that he/she will get out (provided catches are taken) etc. These are the probabilities which determine average runs per wicket of the bowler and if they are constant they can be correctly estimated by double counting a batsman who was dropped.

Really hope West Indies don't blow this. Their best player against spin is back in the pavilion already.

I am following the scorecard, Is Yasirs leg spinner from over the wicket turning away from the right handers?

Can't believe I am missing this match because of the tuition (I am the teacher)

Need to put pressure from the other end. Yasir carrying Pakistan at the moment.

I think Kraigg Brathewait is right up their with anyone else when speaking of young upcoming batsmen.

In 45 minutes or so the match complexion has changed completely. Windies doing a Windies here.

Pakistan need Yasir to remain potent for another hour I guess and Windies need someone to play a quick cameo for an hour.

It's Pakistan's game to lose from here now. WI will keep losing wickets, just need to keep it tight.
