Match starts tomorrow. Interesting to see what kind of pitch is on offer. The matches against Zimbabwe in 2015 were played on flat pitches, but the PSL Final wasn't supportive towards batsmen so not sure what to expect.

Looks like Fakhar will be the first-choice as opener. Probably with Shehzad and I'm guessing the rest of the Top 7 will be Babar, Amin, Malik, Sarfraz and Imad.

As for the bowlers, Hasan Ali and Shadab are locks. Looks like it will be two of: Yamin, Ashraf, Sohail, Nawaz, Usman and Rumman.

Really hard to predict the XI, but it should be an excited match regardless, considering the strength of the opposition.

Think there'll be plenty of rotation with the bowlers. Batting lineup will be more settled but we need to find another attacking opener to partner Fakhar.

Pitch will probably be a belter and there should be good crowds. Hoping all goes off without a hitch.

World XI won't know what hit them. Some of these players will be playing against the toughest opposition they will face in their entire careers.

Extremely happy about this, just to see the location of the match in the OP gives me goosebumps!

Let's go Pakistan! The stadium will be jammed packed, flat pitch, bowling is good on both sides. Should be a great game.

I would rather go with this 11, than playing Shahzad, for first 2 matches.

Fakhar
Babar
Amin
Malik
Sarfraz * +
Fahim
Imad
Shadab
Sohail
Hassan
Rumman

3rd match, the ones warming the bench should get to play in front of the home crowd.

Fakhar
Shahzad
Amin
Malik
Sarfraz * +
Yamin
Faheem
Imad
Nawaz
Usman
Raees

Usman, Raees, Imad and Nawaz would bowl 4 overs each. Faheem and Yamin to bowl 4 overs together.

Can someone please post the starting time in North America? Toronto/NY should be enough.

10 AM

I hope it isn't too long. My class is at 1:45 so I want it to end before that.

Last time with PSL, they had rubbish like the ceremony before the match and it took so long to remove the stage from the playing area.

Drop the class/exam then - you can do that next day, next semester .... at worst, next year:(. This occasion won't return twice in history.

Expect maybe Paine and Cutting, most of these players have faced plenty of tough international opponents . So dont think they will be blown away.

Facing an in-form Pakistan in Pakistan is one of the toughest prospects in world cricket. Search up historical records. Pakistan doesn't lose at home.

It should be around three hours long but that's rarely the case. If there are no delays, it should be finished in around 3.5 hours I guess.

Match is in Pakistan, it will be a minor miracle if there are no delays.

I suspect tomorrow’s line up will look something like this:

1. Ahmed Shehzad
2. Fakhar Zaman
3. Babar Azam
4. Shoaib Malik
5. Sarfaraz * +
6. Imad Wasim
7. Fahim Ashraf
8. Shadab Khan
9. Hasan Ali
10. Usman Khan/Sohail Khan
11. Rumman Raees

This is the playing XI I would play (at least for the first match):

1. Fakhar Zaman
2. Babar Azam
3. Fahim Ashraf (let’s test him out)
4. Sarfaraz * +
5. Imad Wasim
6. Aamer Yamin
7. Shoaib Malik
8. Shadab Khan
9. Sohail Khan/Usman Khan (rotate)
10. Hasan Ali
11. Rumman Raees

How long is a T20 match usually?

20 X 2 X 4 = 160 minutes +15 minutes in between; so around 3 hours if the game goes to 240th ball. Add to that 30 minutes for toss before start, but that's not affecting you here. Ideally, a 10 AM start should end by 1 PM; but here they might start a bit delayed because of media circus - from Najam Sethi to his cat, everyone would have wished for couple of minutes of air time ....

Also, if PAK bats 2nd, don't expect the match going beyond 35th/36th, at most 38th overs.

Really hope they don't have any of these speeches, those things are embarrassing and a waste of time.

What form are you talking about? Pakistani last played three months ago. Also don't forget Pakistan have been one of the worst teams in limited overs cricket over past two-three years. Small sample size of Champions Trophy does not erase the bad performance of past two years. Also what record at home are you talking about? This is first home series for like 10 or 11 players out of 16.

Too many people are taking World XI too lightly. Their batting order is pretty solid with decent/little below average bowling lineup.

Tamim
Amla
Faf
Bailey/Elliot
Miller
Cutting
Paine
Sammy/Perera/Collingwood
Badree
Tahir
Morkel

If Pakistani players are still over the moon about Champions trophy win, then they will be trying to figure out what hit them so hard.

It's still better than delaying a T20I for that some Sheikh couldn't finish his evening booze in time......

The occasion is such that, there has to be some political gain - if Mian Sharif is allowed for next election, you'll experience how this event is used. However, instead of delayed start (not saying it's going to happen), they might prolong the dinner break - from viewership, that's actually most productive time.

That's as poor a T20 side as it can get for world XI - top 3 doesn't belong to T20, while apart from Tahir, none of the bowlers should make their team, may be Morkel as well. 2 Leggi in a D/N fixture at Lahore in mid SEP isn't the greatest idea while that batting with some retired greats won't last long against PAK attack.

We might see a 2-1 series result, but I know what I am writing and fair enough - the occasion is far, far bigger than the result. A great gesture from ICC that they gave it International status, but it won't have mattered otherwise - probably none, including myself gave PCB a chance to host such series after the Lahore bombing.

General inquiry

Hello I would like to know what time will be in Pakistan (local) when the first game will be starts vs WXl?
I am in USA

Who's broadcasting this in the UK?

Hope it's a good game and any political stuff the PCB, etc are planning is kept to a minimum.

World XI Top 3 are not great T20 players and yet they are prefered by leagues around the world for this format. What an irony...

While Badree has been in the top 3 T20 bowlers since his career started. Also only one of the retired player Elliot or Collingwood would play most probably and both have performed well in recently held Natwest T20.

Combination wise its as good as a team can become. They wont be easy to beat as they have some good match winners but than Pakistan also doesnt lack players ho can take the game away.

Going to see the match, hopefully it will be a good game of cricket. 🤞

Will be awesome to see Pakistan play tomorrow. It's been almost 3 months since we last played.

I put the list of broadcasters in the OP earlier to avoid these kind of questions. It doesn't seem to be working. :(

It just goes to show how many people don't read the OP, I suppose.

It's not like the broadcasters have only just been announced either...

When thread goes into second or more pages people just read thread title and start posting. I know because I do the same :amir2

Edit: this thread is only on half of first page, disregard what I just said :srt

This would be my 11 as I now know Amir is unavailable

1) Fakhar Zaman
2) Umar Amin - he's not even an opener by trade but Ahmed Shehzad should be nowhere near the team so UA will do
3) Babar Azam - didn't have a great CPL but doesn't necessarily mean he is in bad form - leagues aren't a good indicator of form all the time
4) Sarfraz Ahmed (C) (WK)
5) Shoaib Malik
6) Imad Wasim
7) Shadab Khan
8) Mohammad Nawaz - only because it's in Pakistan so spinners will come into play. Not impressed with him so far
9) Fahim Ashraf - he impressed me against SL in CT
10 Hasan Ali
11) Rumman Raees

Peshawar Zalmi Congratulates PCB, ICC and Pakistan and Welcome World XI
Chairman expresses admiration and support for World XI series

Lahore, Pakistan: PSL Champions Peshawar Zalmi congratulated PCB and the nation on the revival of international cricket in Pakistan. Peshawar Zalmi Chairman Javed Afridi said "The World X1 tour is a huge step for the revival of international cricket in Pakistan and we are all hopeful this series will go a long way towards advancing that in the country. The efforts of the PCB and the ICC’s support are commendable and I congratulate Chairman PCB Najam Sethi on this series."

The Zalmi family expressed their excitement for this series as being similar to that experienced during the historic PSL final between the Peshawar Zalmi and the Quetta Gladiators, when the Zalmi team, under Darren Sammy’s leadership, came to Lahore and supported Pakistani cricket at a difficult time.

They also expressed their gratitude to all the foreign players of Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators and the World XI squad for coming to Pakistan.

Pakistan will face the ICC World XI for a series of three T20 Internationals. The matches will be staged at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on 12th, 13th and 15th September 2017.

Hopefully this time everything goes as smoothly as planned and play can get underway at 10 AM. *fingers crossed*
