A commentators role is supposed to narrate the game and keep viewers engaded (not distract). They should read the play and let the game do the rest of the talking.
Though I'm not their biggest fans, I appreciate how Nasser Hussain, Atherton and Bumble the ideal trio in that they compliment each other, bring that little hype to the game and not mention the obvious.
A bad commentator can really distract viewers from even the most exciting games. (Sanjay is a good example of how IPL cricket and fans can't stand him and his nonsense.)
PSL has a nice family/party vibe to it when we had the late Dean Jones, Danny Morriston, Cork etc. I feel Pakistani commentators are lacking though. BIG TIME.
Look, I like Ramiz, but it's shameful how his commentary has never developed since he started in the late 90's. It's the same buzzwords and broken sentences with pauses every 2 seconds.
Bazid Khan is hit and miss.
Wasim Akram seems to struggle sharing his thoughts jn English, but he is awesome when he offers technical insight and has a keen eye for what bowlers and captains are trying to do.
The female commentators dont seem to talk properly and keep pausing like their mimicking Ramiz Raja. ***?
Some of the commentators in the QIA tournament would do a better job.
Do PCB have any say in commentators (like BCCI)? They're meant to sell the game. They have people who can't speak proper English and can't say anything past generic ** like they don't want to be there (looking at you Ramiz).
It's 2020, not the 80's and domestically played games. If PCB are going to use the free to watch YouTube route, they need a proper set up.
Hope Wasim Khan can sort this out. He's the only one who seems to know about the commercial aspect in the PCB.
