Shafiq has only scored one boundary in the last 17 overs. He can not be only supporting the tailenders. He needs to be in charge of them.

Pakistan needed 450 at least. If Yasir doesnt click. England can get 500 for sure. Then put us under pressure.

It is not rocket science why he is not ideal choice for limited formats.

Back to the topic;

Yikes. That gotta hurt. Also that looks serious.

Thank god it missed the patella or his knee joint would have been in trouble! Could have career threatening in a way! But thank god he is ok!

Few Bouncers followed by one full delivery strategy seems to be working quite well for Wood.

This is where IK Mk 1 was important - he helped stabilise the tail, providing a calm presence and farming the strike so it didn't get blown away,

Sarfraz has been really irresponsible lately

Cant blame Sarfaraz. In the Modern game Tail enders should be able to contribute 80-100 runs or at the very least support an established batsmen. Wahab, Yasir and Zulfi are no mugs with the bat either.

With Sarfraz gone, i was not expecting anything close to 400. Dissapointed but let's hope our pacers start of well.

This is not a good score at all, especially given that 10 players in the English line-up can bat pretty well.

Over. 378 is a good score.

Below par.

When you have a pitch virtually set up for you to take advantage of having a leg spinner, and win the toss. You should really be getting 400-500. England now have a chance. Pakistan will have to bat more than once.

From 281/4 to 377/9

That's why blame goes straight to Misbah. As settled batsman, he should have capitalized to build long inning, or at least should have stayed for one session. I never had high hope on Sarfraz Ahmad who was still playing reverse-sweep shots on dangerous line - not ideal for overseas. Asad still can't hit.

We were 87/3

England are no mugs in these conditions. They didn't beat India in India in 2012 for nothing.

Bowled Woody!

Now let us see how England bat against Yasir.

Shafiq is too limited!!! Instead of charging he let the tailenders to score some runs. He did not deserve 100. Our tail enders are the worst in the test team.

Well England will get out under 300 on this pitch. Yasir and Zulfi will be very tough to handle for the english on this pitch.

He played a poor shot. Not only in this innings but also in the first innings of the first test match. A lot of blame goes to him.

280/4 to 378 All out - poor effort by lower order and England will be happy with match situation now, we are going to have to bowl very well here to get foot hold in the match!

Below par score. Our top 3 is a liability. 450-500 was needed. England should be considered favourites.

Its a damn shame shafiq couldnt get a 9th test ton. But very good knock regardless. If it wasnt for the injury i think he couldve done it

Yah technically fine but in the last 20 overs he failed to understand that he had to take proceedings into his hand ... scored only 1 boundary in last 20 overs and gave too much strike to the tail(60 %) . If he had taken charge we could have ended up with around 420 but nevertheless a fine effort.

These two tests so far have shown that 2012 was once in a lifetime performance. Many posters thought it would be the same again. But England did their homework and won in India. England are very good at playing slow attritional cricket that is perfect for UAE conditions. The 2012 pitches were much livelier than this and against Ajmal in ATG form. England were helpless. Even in that series our bats struggled.

I still expect Pakistan to take a first innings lead of at least 30 or 40 runs. Root and Cook are the key for England getting a decent score.

I will blame this on Sarfraz only, his habbit of playing over aggressive cricket will cost us some matches. It is good to play positive cricket but no point in playing over aggressive and throwing your wicket away when it is needed to stick and score.

We need to get cook early. If we get him we can bowl England out for under 350. If cook gets in England will rack up 500.
