Shadab immediately destroying Hong Kong batting lineup. I fail to comprehend why Pakistan are so insistent on going with 4 pacers in UAE. Spin attack wins games here.

Well I hope Shady goes for a career best figures here. A 6 or 7 fer. The only positive we can take from this game

Now predicament is that Nawaz could have only played in place of Fahim, but Fahim has bowled spectacularly and also picked up a wicket.

Faheem's been bowling outstandingly lately. You can't leave him out.

If only Usama Mir was selected for the Asia Cup.....

That would have been a masterstroke from Pakistan.

Its not about picking up wickets. Its about sending a message that Pakistan has phaaaast bowlers aplenty.

Honestly I think Nawaz should play over Shinwari. He adds batting, fielding, and can open the bowling.

Nawaz can neither bat or bowl.

Playing him is basically playing with 10 players.

He is a club level player.

What about Harris over Asif Ali

Now that would be blunder.

Haris is a middle order player and an accumulator, while Asif Ali is a finisher, hitter and a game changer. We lacked big hitters in the middle lower middle order and now when we have found one is Asif Ali we dont afford to loose him.

Expecting some crucial innings from Asif Ali in Asia Cup and more than that in the world cup.

Shadab has improved his control a lot- great to see. Needs to stop overusing his googly though.

Still the guy takes more wickets than regular spinners like Raza Hassan, Asghar in PSL. Zafar and Usama didnt get a lot of games though but still if a guy who can bat outperforms specialist spinners deserves a run.

Only slight problem with him is that he looses his line and length if he is attacked, need to work on it a bit.

Tbh he is on par with Nawaz, and a better batsman to boot

And you say that he is on par with Nawaz as bowler is due to the fact?

Has he taken more wickets in PSL? Does Haris' franchise in PSL not realizes his potential with the bowl?

Or maybe he has more wickets in first class or list A than Nawaz?

So you guys s want nawaz to play against the big boys . Imagine him facing up to pandya and Thisara Perere. They will shred him to pieces .

Pandaya will hit nawaz for six sixes in a over. Nawaz is really poor.

Not sure how you can say he outperforms specialist spinners.

Asghar had a poor PSL 3, but his record in PSL1 and 2 speaks for itself (as does his recent domestic record).

Zafar played two matches in PSL 3, and destroyed Zalmi's line up in the first one. He has returned to playing domestic cricket this year post-injury and his recent performances show he is back to his best.

Usama played two matches and bowled five overs in PSL 3. Has shown signs of improvment in recent times once he nails that length he will be lethal.

Irfan (legspinner) is the other option- has made a very good start to the season.

Agree, at least Haris can bat competently unlike Nawaz who is a specialist fielder and Sarfraz's parchiiii

Nawaz is fine for 4 overs, i wouldn't trust him to bowl 10. Both Nawaz & Imad should be T20 specialists. In an ideal world, we'd have picked Gohar as the second spinner, but we haven't

Haris has troubled teams whenever he's bowled in international cricket except vs Bangladesh in 2015. He did well in NZ series 2014, decently in the WC 2015 and was very good in the recent SL series. If he were to play, he would come in for Asif or Imam, and wouldn't have to bowl 10 overs, whereas if Nawaz were to come in he would replace Faheem or one of the specialist pacers and would have to bowl 10, which I am not sure he ca be trusted with

Some people dont have any problem when performers of PSL are selected, but somehow Nawaz who has been consistent with the bowl in each season is somehow in the hate books of many.

Yes I would prefer fit Imad over him due to his experience and game sense.

We need atleast 3 allrounders in the squad and Nawaz is one of those, if Imad is fit he replaces him. For any specialist spinner to be in the squad it has to be in place of either Shaheen, Junaid etc or other one of our pacers.

Replace Malik with Haris. Problem solved.

No need to take lectures on how to handle young pacers from Rameez Raja. Mohammad Zahid springs to mind.

Replace Malik with Haris. Problem solved.

The only thing which is keeping Haris out is his lack of ability to accelerate and lack of hitting potential which is crucial in modern day ODI cricket.

UAE would have been a better team here in their home. Also, they were a bit unfortunate in the qualifier - lost 2 wickets just before the rain interruption, then came back to score like 120 in 10-12 overs to post 177 in 25 overs; since they lost 3 wickets before the break, via DWL, HK's target became 179 in 25 overs, just 2 more than what UAE posted, and they barely reached the target with 7/8 down. Had UAE not lost 2 wickets just before break, that target could have been close to 200. On a 50 overs course, UAE is a better team.

They knew it's in Malaysia and should have kept one extra day for the Final - just one team qualifying and it wasn't fair for UAE.

Whenever Shinwari is bowling I am just keeping my fingers crossed that he doesnt get stress fracture on the back again. He is the only one among our recent pacers who has struggled this much with injuries.

This pitch is gun barrel straight for pacers, havent seen any movement off the pitch or in the air (Just a bit of reverse maybe).

Abu Dhabi is a better wicket for new ball, Laxman should study before commenting.

Dubai pitch is faster than Shaykh Zayed though

Nice bowl from Shinwari, he is learning to move bowl other way as well

O bowled him I swear I had a feeling during this delivery he would get a wicket by clean bowl you can just sense it

But some people still want Shinwari out of the team....

UKS's seam position is very good.

On a side note, Shinwari is one of the lesser known PSL success stories.

His career was going nowhere until Mickey came along and coached Karachi Kings in the PSL (where he obviously impressed him). As a result, when Mickey was made national coach he brought UKS into the national set up.

Otherwise Shinwari would have been one of many bowlers who had debuted for Pakistan (T20 2013) and then disappeared without a trace.

Fantastic..this Usman guy bowls well from both over and around the wicket.. great bowling

Yes totally, another one who got lucky only due to emerging category like Hassan and Shadab

Without PSL we would still be playing the likes of Sohail Khan and Rahat Ali

Usman will be in top 5 ODI bowlers if remains fit till after the world cup or may be even before that.

Its sad but I dont think it would be worth risking him in tests due to his vulnerable back.

I have played hard ball cricket here in HK. The system is a mess from top to bottom. The coaches will only select you if you are able to defend every single ball in the net. If you hit a big shot, you’re out. The coaches only select guys who perform in the nets. Which is why you can see all they can do is block. They have been trained for years to block every ball. I have a few friends who are much better batters than these but they’re not in the team because they play attacking shots.
