This needs to be addressed urgently. For a long time now, there are some batsmen in the Pakistan team who have absolutely no regard whatsoever for the rest of their side and will take a review on an LBW regardless!
Here is a clear example
Notice Rizwan’s body language here. He doesn’t look at his partner, he doesn’t even ask him if he recons that’s plumb or not. He goes off in his little daze and then takes the review. You cannot blame his partner here because Rizwan had no intention to take his non-striking Partner’s view into perspective here.
Now let me tell you at least in this match, how detrimental this could have been to Pakistan’s cause right now.
1. Rizwan, like Abdullah burned a review on a decision that was 3 reds. This left 1 review only, with Pakistan still needing 110 runs in the deficit and only 5 more wickets remaining.
2. Salman Agha was beaten by a good leg-spinner by Rehan and could well have had 3 reds himself had there been a slight deviation on where the ball landed. So that 1 review left could also have been burned but luckily it was not on umpire’s call.
3. Nauman Ali when the score was still 180-7 could also have been a goner as he was given out, but luckily with 1 review remaining, his decision was overturned and then he managed to put up that excellent partnership with Saud. Had there been 0 reviews left, the score would have been 180-8 and Pakistan desperately against the ropes!
These are the fine margins when it comes to taking reviews as batsmen, or even bowlers on such tracks! Why is it that some batsmen in the Pakistan side have zero care about their team? How could you think it’s ok to just take a review without even consulting your partner??? Who are you? Who is anyone in this team? Are they all Viv Richards, Tendulkars and Lara’s? I wouldn’t expect t these three legends as well to not take reviews which they know are 100% plumb.
