ISLAMABAD: Saniha Ghafoor, a Pakistani female powerlifter, secured four gold medals in the 57kg category at the Oceania Pacific Powerlifting Championship on Saturday.

Saniha won four gold medals in the 57kg category for squats, bench press, dead lift and total weight, a private news channel reported.

The powerlifter lifted an aggregate weight of 280kg, 115kg during squats, 55kg during bench press and 110kg during dead lift.

The championship is being held at Park Avenue Convention Centre in Singapore. The event kicked off on December 7 and will run until December 10.

Other Pakistani powerlifters competing in the event include Sybil Sohail (47kg), Twinkle Sohail (72kg), Rabbia Razzaq (84kg), Muhammad Ahmad Khan (105kg), Syed Nadeem Hashmi (105kg) and Mahmood Heera (120kg).

Don't understand why her bench press is so low

Yes, 55kg isn't much but her numbers for the other big lifts are impressive. Maybe just a mistake in the article or something as that's not a lot at all.

Don't understand why her bench press is so low

I was wondering the same. I assume it's due to power lifters having stronger lower bodies and they don't much have much muscle in the upper body to make the weight range.

Great to hear and great to see Pakistan being represented in a good light on the international stage.
