Pakistani player 'invited female guest to hotel room in honey trap plot' during BPL

Saved the player's face. Otherwise would have been hugely embarassing for him.

His team should have sent him home and made it public why.

100% agree with this.

given whats happened recently, this degree of stupidity/indiscipline/corruption is precisely the kind of thing that led us into trouble in 2010. there should be a zero tolerance policy. clearly the pcb educational programmes are not working, and someone needs to be held to account there too.

This individual was being touted as the next pakistani 'aggressive' captain in LOIs. Shameful behaviour.

It's one of two people
Id b shocked if it was the senior of them

I'm sure the
player in question was only getting his clothes ironed as any normal Pakistani man would do in a hotel

I hope bcb will also further ban this cricketer from future bpls.

I thought at least bpl will be away from this kind of shameful controversial activities especially when when rotten bad apples of cricket aka Indian cricketers don't participate here. But alas I was proved wrong by this Pakistani lad.

Lol you're acting as if this was the first time such a thing happened in BPL

It's regular occurrence and Ashraful also got life ban for it before if I'm not wrong

Its funny how people from conservative societies often get involved with this stuff behind closed doors.

Its funny how people from conservative societies often get involved with this stuff behind closed doors.

It is funny that people are finding it offensive here as well.

No idea what it matters, but having our noses up in the sky about irrelevant things to add to personal worth is what we do.

This is literally a situation of who cares, and we have people talking about "shameful behaviour".

Thank god this happened.

I like BPL, atleast by sending our players over their we figure out who the bad apples are.

There is a reason why Misbah and PCB made Azhar Ali captain. We saw what happened when the last test captain before Misbah got involved into. A player getting involved into controversies isn't as bad as when a captain gets involved, who ends up bringing a bad name for everyone.

The player involved here, when he started to perform well at international level, some people wanted him to be captain.

Its incidents like these which tells you how careful we need to be who our future captain will be. Misbah and Azhar Ali have led Pakistan in such a way that they even don't get themselves involved in activities or say things which could bring a bad name to the Pakistan team as of whole.

Is there anything to suggest he was actually involved in fixing or giving information.

Said player does come across as being a bit taken into his own hype and isn't that likeable- maybe he was just arrogant enough to think he's going to get some action.

Look whether you like it or not, Pakistani people will never like such incidents. Thats how our culture is. ANd every Pakistani knows this.

When it comes to representing our country, these guys need to be verycareful in what they do. Because their acts bring a bad name to the country as of whole

2nd problem here is that the women was a suspicious person, someone inrelation with cricket corruption.

It is obvious who the player is, here are some clues from this article which will lead you in the right direction!

- All rounder
- Current player
- Recently played well
- Have a careful look at the players in the photo!!

http://www.newindianexpress.com/spo...est-to-room-let-off-with-warning-1547955.html

Pakistan generally don't play all-rounders in test cricket (except Mohammad Nawaz who hasn't played in BPL as he is with the test team) = MUST BE AN ODI/T20 PLAYER

I think you might have figure it out.. I thought he was religious. But you find the answer Through Mohammad Nawaz..... Good hint through Mohammad Nawaz;

Swagger I guess. !!! About Picture... there is no One there lolz...

He Really Played well, Mohammad Nawaz was not in BPL... Parallel things Recent ODI's ..

I am yet to read details & I'll get the exact information in few days or weeks time from genuine sources. What I have read, based on that I can only say this is not only shameful, but a bigger offense than 2010. I am not a saint & don't bother which player does what with whom - I am not looking for a match for my sis or daughter.

If you have money - EVERYTHING is available in Bangladesh - from Russia to Brazil to Egypt to East Europe to Philippines - who cares. BUT, there was a specific reason to avoid such incidences & the mentioned player (s) was instructed not to indulge with such characters. It's not that he is a "pindu", that he can't read English instructions or understand briefings, it's not that he is an alien who has just landed on planet earth - he is a full grown up young-man, quite intelligent & aware. In 2010, environment around PAK Team/Players were different - it's like - "keya farak parta - one extra peg se hangover thori hota hai ......."; it was almost whose who & those 3 idiots forgot to pull their zippers back on time.

This is different - someone didn't bother to care, despite knowing the possible consequences. I can see 3 sides of this - 1. either he was black-mailed for some past evidences or 2. the return & relationship (we are talking about platonic business relationship here, not e....c) is too sweet not to take that risk Or 3. there are bigger fish to cover the *** if it gets exposed. If PCB doesn't dig deep into it with proper spirit & urgency, 2010 will return back in PAK cricket.

Not interested in whatever players do off the field as long as it is not related to drugs or corruption.

I guess the player thought I'm away from home, nobody will notice, I'll get away with it.

Good of the security personnel to spot this, but poor from the organisers of the BPL not to expose this guy and make him an example to others.

i hope if its possible, youre able to give a stern grilling to the next appropriate pcb interview you have and ask them how its possible that if their educational processes post 2010 are good enough, this kind of thing still happens...

wow...Nawaz alternative got caught with girl and i thought he was going to be Pakistan captain in Limited format.

One thing proved again that Never judge the person by its look

So? What does it have to do with cricket?

If a person cant follow the one simple instruction, how is he going to do the captaincy? He can do whatever he likes, I dont give a damn... but if he was asked not to invite any female guests into your room while playing BPL then it has to do with cricket

Culture can change as well. I suppose the 40,000 people being killed by terrorists is what has actually brought shame. That is what has bought a bad name to the country as a whole.

'Shame' is not the main point of this story.

This is:
“In the case of this Pakistani player, he was advised in particular about a foreign national girl who was on the watch list of the anti-corruption investigators in the BPL.”

terrorism is a separate issue. A guy representing you needs to be more dignifying.

Do you not think that the ACSU had done it's bit by advising him?
Why force him?
They could have waited to see how it could have played out and then banned him if he did get involved in wrong doing.

I will happily abide by the instruction NOT to name the player.

I'm just relieved that for once it is NOT Umar Akmal!

It's a nice change!

But what kind of non-story is it that someone living in a Conservative society wants to behave like someone in a more modern one.

If my kids - who live in Australia - weren't doing this by the age of 18 I'd be seriously worried that there was something wrong with them.

What he does in his personal time is one thing, but ignoring instructions and tournament rules is downright idiotic.

Considering what occurred in 2010, there's no excuse for such actions.

You have missed the key point here - you had been in Dacca, even in 80s, you should know that there is a niche, who has a lifestyle which even in western world will struggle to match.

No one is questioning or shamed for the "obvious" part of the info. - in late 90s, early 00s many PAK players used to play in leagues - some of them used to go to Jumma (Friday) prayer directly from ..... leave it. And the BD, SRL, IND, ZIM, Kenyan players are not saints either - even the Afghans, trust me. And, you'll be surprised to know that Arab players are few degrees ahead - many of them from Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, Oman, Uzbekistan used to play league football in Dhaka.

The issue is not the "Social" status of the lady, it's her "Legal" status that's more of a concern.

If it's a retired/out of contention for being selected for Pak, the PCB doesn't need to do anything about it. He'll be blacklisted by all the T20 leagues, disgraced in Pakistan and that will be the end of that.

If it's someone who's a part of our plans, he should be handed a year ban by the PCB. Disgraceful behavior.

Didn't you read the news / posts here?

Young all-rounder who has recently done very well for Pak in LOIs, and also didn't play many games in the BPL. Touted to be as 'aggressive' and 'educated', some even calling him as the next captain.

:))

I can tell this forum is full of Pakistani's...everybody is jumping to firm conclusions without knowing all the facts :68::68:

This is a promising player who as far as i know does have a good head on his shoulders. I am sure there is a lot more to this story and until then he gets the benefit of the doubt from me.

No, I don't have much time so I couldn't read the details. But touted as captain? Don't tell me that one of the suspects is left-handed (hope this isn't considered naming someone, dear mods).

See if this sort of media coverage existed in the 70s-90s, a lot of our Pakistani heroes would've been brutally exposed already.

Really don't see what the issue is regarding inviting female guests into their rooms. It's their life so they should be able to act how they want in their spare time.

Nothing wrong in having a girl over for a late night romp. Obviously, the one in question was on an anti corruption list so it's not reasonable, but the Bengalis shouldn't have received the fines for having girls around.

Not surprised at all. When ever a new guy comes in and perform at the highest level he finds a way to ruin his career, already used to it...

Some people are even asking for a ban for him :))

He got a slap on the wrist by the BPL organizers, and thankfully they aren't as stuck-up as few others.

I bet if he was 18 people would've coddled him and said "he's just a kid, "the girl probably trapped him instead" :amir

It's a professional setting and maybe not the brightest idea to do this while you're under a BPL contract, but it is his personal life at the end of the day.

They don't really go into much explicit detail in the article but you are free to make your own mind up

I'm still shocked that they went into his room to ask about him rooming with an overseas player and found the girl there casually
It beggars belief it really does

Bengali players deserved their fine because it broke established tournament rules. The "unknown" player should have been fined too.

I doubt the tournament organizers care about players enjoying time with women (even if they publicly state otherwise). In fact, it would add to the allure of their tournament and bring in players.

However, it appears women are being used as messengers or "gifts" in the BPL. The organizers have to nip that in the bud because of past allegations surrounding match fixing in their league.

How do we know that?

A few posters are saying it is all all-rounder but nowhere in the article does it say that.

The only cause of concern is the status of the woman here. Otherwise, no one should care what he does in his personal life.

I guess the problem is the tree itself. I see what you're saying to some degree, you play for team Pakistan, you should know what they are like, but then when you say it brings a bad name to the nation as a whole I roll my eyes. No one in the world cares what any cricketer does in their personal life, and anyone who thinks that is true, has a blind eye to the worlds realities.

Certain people will make these things a big issue to deflect away from real issues. Unfortunately I cannot get more into the discussion as it will probably be deleted so I will leave it at that.

This makes sense.

Thanks for the clarity.

Several people on this thread seemed to have missed the entire point that makes this so serious. The female guest was on an ANTI CORRUPTION WATCHLIST, and the players were specifically advised to STAY AWAY FROM HER. A player getting entertained by a female guest isn't the issue here, it's the association of that guest with fixing activities.

Right or wrong

You guys or girls have no right to judge

Another person who did not even read the article. ICC has every reason to judge as this woman was known as suspect by ASCU of dealing with bookies and player had been warned about this particular woman being a trap. If there was any other women no one would be judging as no one would know as ICC and BPL organizers wouldn't care

Yo are deliberately missing the point again and again and I dont know why. Because you are fooling not a single person. Multiple people ave pointed out that the problem here was clearly that this woman was on ACSU list and all players had been warned about her being a honey trap. There are clearly other women in Bangladesh and BPL and no one would care if this was any other women

I seriously do not think you have comprehension problem so I do not see the reason for this charade. Are you using this opportunity for providing a moral lecture on what you "perceive" people are thinking, because not a single person have spoken about the moral aspect, only the absolute stupidity of mingling with a woman about whom ACSU has warned before the series

Apart from the alleged person in question meeting up with a women who was on an Anti Corruption list I see other details as practically a non issue.

Even for this reason there should be a slight inquiry only !! This is nothing serious as majority are making it out to be. Also it's very disappointing to see how fans are treating the said individual on Social Media :(

Only thing that matters is whether the woman is indeed involved with corruption. Other than that, what someone does behind closed doors shouldn't be of any concern.

I am extremely disappointed to assume who that guy is.I liked him so much up to this point.I even opened a thread on him here in PP assuming him to be a captain material for Pakistan.I thought he had an very mature intelligent head over his neck. Now i think he is not a captain material at all.A guy who can't manage inner instinct, can't manage a team like Pakistan.

He is young , famous and handsome, so what if young females are attracted to him, let him have a good time and play quality cricket. I'm not sure the people calling for his head , writing out of jealousy or for some other reason ?

He was told before the tournament to watch out for this particular female as she has links to bookies

People are writing out of frustration st his stupidity

Some people here are giving this silly player a run for his money in the idiocy department. I couldn't care less about what this guy does in his life but the fact is that he was mingling with someone who has a link with fixers, and from what I've managed to gather from the article, was blacklisted by the BCB. After all that has happened to Amir, Asif and Butt, it takes a really problematic player to get his nose into the fixing business and this guy needs to be taught a lesson just like the trio was.

THAT is the problem.

Credit to European footballers that inspite of all those distractions they go down and play footie every weekend for a year, our cricketers seem so easy to be in controversies anyhow lets wait for more details.

No. Credit to Europeans who aren't puritans obsessed with preventing interactions between the opposite sex.

That's not the point.

The point is that the woman in question was on a known list of fixers, yet the player ignored that and jeopardised his career and integrity.

Why would bring a known fixer to a hotel room when you're alone abroad working in a popular league

He really should be glad he was playing in such a prestigious league players of his age would dream to play in
