We have heard of 1000 runs in an innings by Pranav Dhanwade, 300 runs innings in a T20 match by Mohit Alahwat and now a Pakistani kid of class 9th has scored 221 in an inter-school Cricket tournament organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The 14-year-old Kamran Riaz from Islamabad, plays for Islamabad College of Science and Arts. He hit a mind-blowing double century in a 35 over match against Beacon House. The innings was filled with 40 boundaries. Kamran wants to achieve heights greater than Sachin and bring more pride to Pakistan than what Sachin brought to India.

The 14-year-old said, “I have always watched Tendulkar’s batting and I want to become a batsman like Sachin,” Kamran added, “I want to play for Pakistan and want to break all the records set by Tendulkar, I want to bring all those records to Pakistan."

The kid’s father Mohammad Riaz told Geo.tv revealed that he had started encouraging his son to take up cricket from a tender age of only 3, making him play with plastic bats and balls. “I always wanted him to play Cricket, so I handed him plastic bats and balls when he was just three years old” said his father.

Nothing new in kids getting inspired from the legend. But Kamran should know he needs a Vinod Kambli in his life to be Sachin. Also, his dream of reaching Sachin's level would have looked more real if his innings of double ton was declared before reaching 200.

Beacon house is the only provate school in pakistan that invests in sports.

Roots a d many other schools domt care about sports, they dont even have teams.

Beacon house has u13, u16 and other level teams. They even proper divisions and tournies with coaches and all

Don't know about Islamabad, but in Karachi St. Pats and KGS had good competitive teams. Lyceum was another one that wasn't half bad.

Good luck to this kid - hope he makes it and is able to work hard on his game!

Has to follow the same mantra that Babar had at 15- Eat, sleep, train.

Also needs a lot of luck.

Astagfirullah! this naive boy needs to change his aim before it is too late. But congrats on this fantastic effort.

Babar was under the wing of the PCB since the age of 15 hence the professional schedule and having the ability to solely concentrate on cricket.

Children like these have to go to school then tutoring and spend the rest of the evening doing homework.

Yup. That's what I meant. He needs to get lucky. Hopefully this innings will get him noticed and an opportunity for professional training.

Hope he's not forgotten a few years down the road and he actually makes it far.

All the best, Kamran Riaz. :kakmal :wahab

Doesn't matter much - cricket is among very few sports where you can play at professional level managing your studies. Obviously, you won't be going to Harvard or can study medicine, but it's possible to complete Graduation, even in engineering. For that, one has to be disciplined, dedicated & schedule bound. And, he'll indeed need support from family, his educational institutions & PCB, but it's possible.

At this moment, good news is that it looks this kid is probably coming from an affluent family, & has full support from his parents.

The hell does the line "He needs Kambli in his life to be the next Sachin" mean? Both of them broke into the team together but it is not like Sachin used Kambli as a stepping stone for his success. If anything, despite his issues, Kambli get getting into the Indian side because of Sachin until he was left behind by superior players.

Bad News: Pakistan don't even have any batting role model from recent past or present, our kids have to make foreign role model

Best of luck to the kid. At least he has chosen a good role model.

Why would anyone be upset with taking foreign batsmen, especially the likes of Sachin as role models? Plenty of bowlers from other nations took Wasim and Waqar as inspiration too lol.

Best of luck to this kid. Hope he makes it far and becomes a staple in our batting unit. Seems like his parents are very supportive of him and his cricketing pursuits.

If he's aiming for LOIs he should take Kohli or Ponting as his role model.

For Tests, Sachin is good as a role model.

Yes..right...but I rarely seen our players mentioning them as role model. Generally, they mention kohli or sachin.

when i was in my teens there was a time when Yousuf was the role model of our mohalla teams.
and then people say he will not be remembered Like Misbah or Younis (maybe they haven't lived many years in middle class and lower middle class of Pakistan).

but yes for majority of my childhood and teenage Tendulkar and Lara were the role models and now Kohli.

No matter which level of cricket or age group are we talking about. These sort of achievements are always special and it takes skill to achieve them. Wishing the kid the best of luck, He certainly has got his aim right. Delusional bitter haters may say all they like, Tendulkar's career achievements dwarf any batsman ever. Brian Lara has stated the same on record.
