Yet again. Most balanced team for these conditions, right on top after Warner gets given out. Australia having off day in field and all luck going Pakistan's way. After shadab's spell they should easily have sealed it. But just like the Wasim akram era -when the pressure in on - pakistan just crumble.

I don't think the cornered tigers nickname favours Pakistan. They are more like the opposite. Once they get cornered they crumble to pieces.

Aus were just too good on the day.

Seems written for them..

Ott threads have started
.

Pakistan handled pressure well. The catches they took were all during pressure situations

It was always going Australia's way. Ali takes the catch it's tight but Stoinis would've launched Rauf

Bad captaincy by babar shouldve been wide yorkers to the long side for the last 5 and mixing up the pace..

Over the top thread period. Reason for the loss albeit after hindsight is the lack of variety in Death bowling and catch drop has affected shaheen immensely there, normally he would've gone for slower bouncer variations, but after the drop and lack of trust in fielders, he was forced to go for yorkers which was honestly very predictable for Wade. After longtime pakistan didn't panic and showed any visible Mental weakness.

Our bowlers not being consistently exposed to the best hitters in the world. It cost them today because their usual line and lengths, slower deliveries got dispatched today

When you are lucky enough to have been gifted the wicket of the dangerous Warner and still cant get the job done, yeah it's makes for bad viewing. However, it's hard to blame anyone more than Hasan - he is comfortably the weakest link in this side. Dhani/Hasnain wont do worse than him and probably wont choke as much either .

It happens. In hindsight i would've wanted a spinner in place of Hassan Ali i.e. Muhammad Nawaz but the memories Pak have given us were immense. No shame lads!

How can you be mentally strong if you are so out of touch with the rest of the world when it comes to understanding the game?

We set up to play this game differently. We appoint those who lack a basic education as our captains and coaches. You can only learn how to be mentally strong if you actually have the wit to understand how to deal with the situation

Nawaz would have also got smashed by power hitting times under the lights

Pakistan played really well and lost a really close game at the end. You guys are going over the top here.

We have been playing our best cricket the past few weeks, and it was a good game today between two very good sides. Nothing was 'exposed'.

T20 is a game of fine margins and we lost simply because of Hasan ali bowling and drop catch had usman qadir or Dhani hasnain played we would of won if Hasan ali doesn't get it to swing hea very easy to line up

I've been saying for past 3 games that we should try to others in place of hassan and fakhar to see what others can do. Just because your are winning doesn't Mena the players who aren't performing shouldn't be replaced dhani or hasnain wouldn't of done any worse then hassan ali thats for sure

Pakistan were lucky to win toss in big games untill now. Also , Malik and Hafeez again failed against better teams , this has been repeated 100 times yet before every WC Pakistan bring in dead horses in the guise of experience .

This started in 96 when they brought in Miandad.

Only Pakistan can not play a young player like Haider Ali , and play old uncles like Malik and Hafeez who have always failed in crunch games.

I'm not so sure it was about the pressure. Hassan Ali has been comfortably our worst performer throughout the tournament and it was going to cost us at some stage.

Just needs one missed catch to ruin the good efforts of of your team mates. Hasan Ali this is the second time your dropped catch has lead to Pak losing a crucial match. Hang your head in shame.

Pak has been the best side this WC but such is the nature of this format, you can dominate 90% of the match and still lose because of some freak knock, game changing double wicket over or blinder by some fielder.

Best side doesn't necessarily win the WC especially if that side isn't an ATG outfit like old era WI or 2000s Aus, those freak sides could coast through even when they misfired.

**** happens, chin up and be proud of the efforts by your players. Wish IPL rock stars had 1% of the hunger and dedication your boys showed this time.

Doesn't matter who wins the cup, Pakistan stole the show in the desert this time. Best cricket I have seen PCT play in white ball since 2009 WT20, even 2017 CT wasn't smooth sailing before the SF.

Poor thread. The pressure was on when Warner and Marsh were slaughtering the bowlers and Pakistan bowled good balls and took good catches under intense pressure.

Hasan Ali is not mentally weak, he's simply not a good T20 bowler. This defeat was down to Stoinis and Wade playing fantastic cricket. Pakistan did what they could, except drop Hasan Ali.

No way was the team going to play an untested inexperienced Mohd Wasim Jr in a crunch match.

Complete waffle
you could say that about so many teams - India, England yesterday, Pakistan

Pressure has an effect on everyone no matter what country you represent.
Look how many catches Australia dropped - they didn't even deserve to win. Unfortunately 1 catch decided the match in the end.

I think for a long time they held their nerve well. Shaheen first over, and the skier catches - a lot of our old teams would have dropped a couple of those.

Hassan definitely didn’t handle pressure - but he hasn’t all tournament and he has no need to work on it cos he’ll keep getting selected.

Why not? Hasan was clearly going to be giving 40 runs away in every match. He should have been dropped after the win against Afghanistan, if not New Zealand.

Unlike Hasan, Wasim wouldn't be under the scrutiny that a poor run of form brings. Not to mention that the other teams would not have much footage on him either.

Histroy of dropped catches/fielding costing pakistan in world cups

2003 world cup: sachin was dropped early on in his innings by abdul razzaq. Sachin went on to score 98 off 75 balls in a crucial world cup group match against pakistan. Result: pak knocked out

2011 world cup: sachin dropped 4 times. Result: india scored 260 as opposed to lower 220-230
Result: pak knocked out

2015 world cup: shane watson was dropped in the quarter final, when the match was in balance
Result: pak knocked out

2021 t20 world cup: 2-3 missed run out chances. one should have gone pak's way.

hasan ali dropping the catch at crucial juncture. Result: loss of momentum and loss of match

I don’t believe in “mental weakness”.

Pakistan won the WC in 1992 and beat the eventual champions in 2019.

Yesterday, Australia benefitted from the toss and Pakistan had one bad over. That’s all it takes in T20.
