That's pretty bleak.

We were meant to tour Bangladesh next month but that's been scrapped. We were meant to tour India in Nov-Jan, but you know......BCCI/GOI

It means that over the next year all we have planned is:

 • Hosting SL in Oct/Nov 2017 for 3 Tests, 5 ODIs & 1 T20
 • Going to NZ in Jan 2018 for 5 ODI's & 3 T20s
 • Going to Eng in May 2018 for 2 Tests
To give you some context during the same period:

 • England are playing 14 Tests, 11 ODI's and 7 T20s
 • India are playing 10 Tests, 25 ODI's and 6 T20s
 • SL are playing 16 Tests, 23 ODI's (+ a Tri-Series VS Bang & Zim) and 6 T20s
Following that we have the Asia Cup in June 2018 and a Tour of Zimbabwe in August 2018

Having said that from October 2018 to to July 2019 - the schedule is pretty packed for Pakistan InshAllah:

 • Host Aus foor 5 ODI's & 1 T20
 • Host NZ for 3 Tests, 5 ODI's & 1 T20
 • Tour SA for 3 Tests, 5 ODI's & 3 T20's
 • Host Australia for 3 Tests
 • Tour England for 5 ODI's & 1 T20
 • 2019 World Cup
So the question is - between now and June next year what should the PCB do?

Should PCB try to arrange another series to fill the void left by cancellation of the Bang & Ind tours?

Should the PCB allow the players to have a quiet year, since the year leading up to the WC seems like it will be pretty busy?

We have already heard about a 10 week training camp starting next month & InshAllah we will have the PSL at the start of next year probably. We've also been hearing rumours of some sort of World XI team touring Pakistan in September InshAllah. With all that in mind should PCB just keep doing what they are doing?

What are your thoughts?

Pakistan should invite afgshanistan and ireland in uae for 2 series test matches , we will get to see some test cricket and it will be huge for both the countries.

I'm certain that there will be other teams resting in the same peiod, so it wouldn't be difficult to set up a full series. Whoever it is, would be a much more exciting prospect than lowly Bangladesh. If India doesnt want to play, we can easily look for a replacement team.

As discussed in a different thread, it could be a good opportunity to invite Ireland for some Test matches in Pakistan. Would be far more interesting than going to tour Bangla.

Pakistan already discarded T20 matches with Afghanistan over their biased comments for Pakistan so how do you this they will consider a test series.

The tour to England next year should have 3 tests at least.

We should tour Ireland before the England tests for 2 tests and 3 ODI's.

The PCB won't invite Ireland in the UAE.It will be too expensive.

With Afghanistan, there might be some crowds in,but then there are political issues between the cricket boards and the countries themselves.

that a VERY bare bone calendar

surely the PCB will need to organize more tours. How will they manage to keep the doors open with that? They'll go bankrupt

Worsening relations with 3 Test playing nation's is never a good sign. Wish India could just stop being such cry babies and Bangladesh could finally develop policies of their own and stop the blind followingof India.

Can't change that. England's contract with Sky TV is for 7 Tests per home season - we get 2 and India get 5 next summer.

Agreed with the Ireland suggestion, we should tour them this summer.

what about an extended Psl in january febuary next year. lets unearth some more talented players..

When are we going to announce the schedule for the Sri Lanka tour yaar. It's ridiculous other countries announce schedules of tours like 12 months in advance. The Ashes schedule was announced like late 2016 and we have not released schedule yet

We need to schedule more tours man. I've always said that Pakistan needs to play more cricket thoughout the year. They need to play to improve the skills and adapt to the modern style of the game. Try new players, try new plans, try playing in different enviroments. Play tri series. God just play more cricket man

Next Pakistan series: Who should they play against?

FTP is completely blank-there are no scheduled bilateral series.
So which team should play against Pakistan?
Any thoughts?

10 ODI's before a World cup year? Disgraceful. PCB best start planning more series!

A pity, that.I like to watch Test cricket in England.More tests would have been great but since we toured there in 2016 too,I guess we can't complain.

The schedule can always be amended according to circumstances. It is not written in stone.

just invite Bangla for full UAE tour. No need for this ego the matches will be close and competitive now YK n Misbah have gone in Tests. And in asian conditions Bangla can match anyone in ODIs now.

the whole financially viable argument is rubbish. WI are an even worse team than Bangla we still gave them a full tour of UAE.

Maybe they could do with the breaks in between, our lads are always on the road

It's not just Pakistan...

NZ aren't playing a game for another 5 months...

Pakistan needs matches against top teams to continue the momentum and to groom youngsters. This is pathetic planning by PCB. Their team should be in demand right now to play more. Don't complain if they come out rusty and lose next test or ODI series.

Far too few matches. The fans do need rest but its time we fix relations with Bangladesh. Afghanistan is a minnow and we don't need them as of yet but there needs to be a resumption of bilateral ties with BD and India.

Last time Pakistan tour of newzeland was really brief one and i also didnt recalled newzealand playing in UAE for quite sometime. Its about time that we should extend our cricketing ties

We should have:

New Zealand tour UAE for: 3 tests, 5 ODI's and 2 T20s
Bangladesh tour UAE for: 2 tests, 5 ODI's and 1 T20
Pakistan tour Ireland for: 1 test, 3 ODI's, and 3 T20's

That would make it so we have 11 tests, 23 ODI's and 10 T20's. Really good schedule then.

I dont know how, but if it were possible the PCB should have tried to squeeze in a third test match in england.
If not, then what will make me happy is that we beat england in that two match series and all other matches thereafter are one-sided.

Its been a while since we had a bilateral against SA.

After SA-ENG series we should probably invite them for 3 Tests, 3 ODIs and 3 T20s

I agree. We last played SA in 2014 in a bilateral series. Our next series is scheduled for 2019 which is too far off.

Firstly,I have to say I am not disappointed by this at all because of the history of the PCB and you need to be mentally ready for that.On the other side, there is always a chance for players to work on the areas they need to.

Back to the OP.

The viable options for PCB are as follows:

1)Arrange a full fledged series with New Zealand. They won't be playing any international cricket upto November '17 and hence, you have every chance to host them.

Now the question arises where to hold this series? UAE will be too hot in the coming months(upto Sept)and am not too sure about the NZ either.Someone here can help me with that.So only thing to ponder upon is where to hold this?

2)Before the QA trophy,we can have a tri series tournament(including 4 day,List A)in Pakistan with almost every young player in that with some current Pakistan national players in it.No place for the players like Anwar Ali,Rafatullah Mohmand,Faisal Iqbal, etc.Need to encourage youngsters and allow them to grow.

In the months of July,August and September you won't be having any real problems in preparing good quality wickets.PCB should encourage the curators to prepare true cricketing wickets with true bounce and not the dull, slow and low pitches which the players encounter every season in domestics.

From a commercial point of view I am sure it is going to be a success. With Pakistan being a hot property at this point in time, there won't be any real issues scarcity of sponsors. They should market it really well and telecast it live with the telecasting rights in the hands of PCB as they have in PSL.

If they are able to schedule and executed it right, this can go a long way in benifitting Pakistan cricket.

3)Next summer have a series with Ireland.Might not play test matches as of yet but can play 5 or 7 ODIs with some T20s in that series.

That series should strickly be used to groom and give chances to the youngsters.Resting players like Amir,Hasan,Babar,Malik and playing new group of players.I wouldn't mind them loosing if they think ahead and give chances to the young players. It will also give Sarfaraz a chance to look at some new players and what Pakiatan can get out of them.

Also, with sixth team in the PSL it will be a longer tournament then the previous editions.

Aman UAE is too hot these days, Maybe another neutral venue such as England.

PCB needs to get it's act right.

BCB don't follow any board, they have their own policies. Don't be so blind.

Great.. Asia Cup is better (according to my time zone).. A Pak Ind match on the cards? Is it 50 overs like 2014 or t20 like last year?

The 2016 world cup was very exciting, but I prefer the Asia Cup too because it gives us a chance to make up for this CT loss against Pakistan. If it runs, it should be ODIs.

It's not just Pakistan...

NZ aren't playing a game for another 5 months...

Pakistan and NZ should play a series in NZ, it would be quite fun. Always love seeing Pakistan and NZ play and our team is also very competitive so a LOI Series in NZ would be interesting.

We toured twice last year for 2 short series, and we're scheduled to tour for a LOI series in Jan next year.So I don't think we're likely to tour them.

We'll get in a series somewhere. But this rest is good. We need to be fresh, fit and firing to bring that World Cup home. :akhtar This is strategic genius from mastermind diplomat bodman Sherry.:shkhan He's read the plot perfectly.:raja

Pakistan could invite Bangladesh for a short series.

We are however quite busy this year. August and September we play Australia and tour SA. Then we have BPL.

I have no clue about what series will we play in the upcoming year tho. But it's likely we have series against West Indies and Zimbabwe. And Asia cup too.

There are three nations who aren't playing against Pakistan and this is extremely bad.. India, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

While nothing much can be done for matches against India and I think after the extremely distasteful comments made by the Afghan cricket board, Pak should not entertain them.
However, Pakistan are unnecessarily spoiling their relationship with Bangladesh. I think Bangladesh are more than worthy of a full series in the UAE, other than asking Ban to visit Pakistan there are no issues with the Bangladesh cricket board. PCB should understand the reservation BCB has against touring PAK, it needs more time for international cricket to return full fledged.

No hope really of expanding the England tour- England have a packed schedule & organise these things years in advance.

The biggest interest & most benefit might be drawn from touring Ireland in June/July/August (following on England tour or go home & return after a break) for 3-5 ODI's, 3 T20's & 2 Tests. To be part of Irelands first tests would be a big deal & generate some interest & gain experience in different conditions. Play 2 of the ODI or even a third test in England if possible to give fans a further chance to turn out & celebrate/acknowledge their new heroes, plenty of Pakistan fans in England we know already. There are a lot of Irish there too. English grounds are commercial entities these days- any chance to earn $$$ hosting an match, they will consider.

Then invite Bangladesh for 3 Tests + 5 ODI in UAE - as others have said, these will likely be quite competitive, the Bangers are a useful side in Asian conditions these days. Lucrative or not, your players only improve by playing.

Then focus on the world XI T20s. If they are successful, try to organise a similar World XI for 3 ODI if that all goes well.

If your board gets really busy, a decent schedule can be organised. If they can achieve 2 out of those 3, they will have done pretty well.

Make Ireland tour Pakistan in August for 2 test 5 odi just quick series to check your bench strength , play your 2nd string side against them.

Touring Ireland this summers is not a bad idea. Fans would get some cricket to watch provided rain doesn't spoil sport and our team would get a lot of practice for next year's England Tour. 2 Tests, 3-5 ODIs, 2T20s

Chances of any Int. Cricket between July and september?

So, is their any chance of scheduling of series for Pakistan?

I really don't like lengthy gaps between series but then again our players deserve it after a tough CT win. I remember when we won the 2012 Asia cup and the next game we played was the 1st T20 against SL which was Hafeez's first game as captain. The time I had to wait for that game felt as if I was waiting 4 years for a FIFA world cup. PCB shouldn't have cancelled the BD tour.

It's not new for pak cricket. They always play very few test matches.

Pakistan should invite afgshanistan and ireland in uae for 2 series test matches , we will get to see some test cricket and it will be huge for both the countries.

Why should Pakistan do that? There is no benefit of playing Ireland and Afghanistan.
