So if the match between the two lineups below take place will it be a competitive match or can Pakistan main XI make it a one sided affair in a 3 match T20 series. What do you guys think? And also should there be such a contest once a year in white ball cricket?

Pakistan XI

Babar Azam (C)
Haider Ali
Mohammad Rizwan (WK)
Mohammad Hafeez
Iftikhar Ahmed
Khusdil Shah/ Hussain Talat
Shadab Khan
Imad Wasim/ Faheem Ashraf
Mohammad Hasnain/ Faheem/ Wahab/ Musa
Shaheen Shah Afridi
Haris Rauf

Rest of Pakistan

Sharjeel Khan
Fakhar Zaman
Zeeshan Malik
Sohaib Maqsood
Azam Khan (WK)/ Zeeshan Ashraf
Danish Aziz/ Asif Ali
Aamir Yamin/ Mohammad Nawaz
Hassan Ali (C)
Usman Shinwari/ Akif Javed/ Amad Butt
Zahid Mehmood/ Usman Qadir
Mohammad Amir

One idea could be to play 3 t20s in NZ after the entire series is over. All PCB have to do is to keep the squad for 3 more days and book a stadium in NZ.

1. Babar
2. Rizwan
3. Hafeez
4. Husain Talat
5. Khushdil Shah
6. Danish Aziz
7. Imad Wasim
8. Amad Butt
9. Usman Qadir
10. Haris Rauf
11. Shaeen Adridi

VS

1. Zeeshan Malik
2. Imam ul Haq
3. Haider Ali
4. Abdullah Shafique
5. Shadab K
6. Iftikhar A
7. Faheem Ashraf
8. Sarfraz A
9. Wahab R
10. Naseem Shah
11. M Hasnain

This will test the players in tough bouncing NZ conditions. Plus, most of the players have done nothing apart from travelling to NZ, thus may have some fun

I don’t think the Pakistan XI vs ROP you’ve listed are balanced. There’s a need to drop some of those at the end of their careers like Wahab, Sarfaraz, as well as those out of form even in domestic cricket, like Sharjeel and Amir.

The Pakistan XI would more or less be the main team, and the ROP would be the main team if the first team vanished from existence.

Abdullah Shafique, Naseem Shah, and Danish Aziz don’t make it because the actual sample size of good T20 innings by them is way too small (though they are all very talented).

I think the above two teams would be very, very competitive over a three match series. The end result will be 2-1 to the Pakistan XI.

There should definitely be a contest like this once a year, a three match series held as exhibition games right after the National T20 Cup. That’s the perfect time to host such a series, with everyone in form and the selection decisions made easier by recent performances.

There can also be a more even split, where the 22 best players are “drafted” by two captains/coaches.

This will attract a lot of broadcasting numbers and views, and in turn sponsorship money, while also allowing youngsters a chance to perform against the best of the best.

No idea why these arent done. Should be like an end of season game - would generate lot of interest.
